doob Posted January 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2016 Have recently booked a cruise and realised we will be in Civitavecchia on Easter Monday. We had planned to visit Rome (areas away from the Vatican) but now believe that many restaurants will be closed as well as shops. Our question is - is it worth making the long return journey? We would consider other towns/villages, even Civitavecchia. It seems a shame to stay on the ship! Any ideas welcome thanks!
luvtheships Posted January 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2016 If you have never been to Rome you must go in!!!! The entire city is an open air museum!!!! Eat a big breakfast on the ship and then grab some prosciutto and provolone and a hunk of bread at a salumeria and eat in a piazza!!!! Fwiw. Easter is a big travel time in Rome....restaurants will be open as will churches the Spanish steps the trevi fountain the piazza navona the pantheon. LondonTowner Posted January 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2016 I also have to say, if you haven't visited Rome before, then you should visit. If you have been there before, then maybe consider doing something else, as it will be extremely busy over Easter.
