Hi everyone. Im getting married on embarkation day on the Conquest in April. One of my close friends that will also be going on the cruise is a photographer. Obviously we cannot use her skills on the cruise, but we would like to have a private photography session at one of the ports if possible? Does anyone have any suggestions? We are wanting to do a trash the dress in the ocean picture! :) Thanks in advance for any help.

We were married on the Carnival Pride July 5th 2015. We have a family member who is a part time photographer. We had him do pictures for us at Half Moon Cay. It was no problem at all. Just go to the far end of the beach away from the crowd. The beach is gorgeous and they turned out great. The photographer from Carnival even told us the best places to take our pics. The professional pictures from our wedding that Carnival did were beautiful.

I am a photographer and have done a few cruise weddings. The couple usually tells them I am a family member (who happens to also be a photographer) and as long as I do not use extra lighting equipment, tripod, any of their setups or in any way block off an area or move guests, I have never had an issue shooting couples in various locations (usually sunset and outdoor) while onboard.

Now, for the 3 ports you are visiting, The port "areas" on Grand Turkmand Amber cove are owned by CCL, NOT the islands... for grand Turk, I would recommend going to Governors beach (right down the other side of the commercial port, which is a public beach and ALWAYS empty. There is a cool shipwreck, rocks, trees etc... a GREAT location for trash the dress IMO! I have not shot at Amber Cove but there are for sure some great resorts or public beaches that I am sure you can shoot at. Half Moon cay, since he photographers are few and far between, I would go to the far end of the beach, past the cabanas OR rent a cabana and do a photo shoot... they would have to make a special trip to stop your family member from taking photos, which is unlikely (and the worst they do is ask you to stop as this has happened to me before when shooting in the atrium late night once)... nothing major.

Hope that helps...
