LTLBrissie Posted July 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2016 What things are their to do in Mumbai when arriving via cruise ship and you don't have a lot of time. I would like to know if anyone has looked at tours in Mumbai, in particular the Kanheri Caves, Elephanta Caves or Karla and Bhaja Caves? The ship I am on docks at 7:00 am and departs at 6:00 pm, that is a whole 11 hours. However, what I gather is that most tours don't pickup until 9:00 am and I would like to be back on the ship by at least 5:00 pm just in case there is a delay. If anyone has visited the caves, which ones would you recommend?
Rare Keith1010 Posted July 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2016 Welcome to Cruise Critic. Places I would post are the Asia ports of call board http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=70 And your roll call to see what others are doing. I have been to Mumbia a few different times. You are wise to not plan anything before 9:00 AM. Aim to be back to the port by 4:30 PM not 5:00 PM. Traffic in Mumbai can be horrible. LTLBrissie Posted July 24, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted July 24, 2016 Thank you Keith for your information, when you were previously in Mumbai, did you go to any of the caves and if you did which one would you recommend seeing? Rare Essiesmom Posted July 24, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2016 The only ones I have visited are the Elephanta Caves, and I seem to remember some steps to get up to them. But this was back in 1985, so my memories could be a bit hazy... I found them interesting. EM
