rpfarris Posted April 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2017 I had a 3-layer discectomy a few years ago and I'm wondering about the idea of signing up for massages in the Spa. Do the therapists know how to deal with something like that? Is it something they run into?
carefreecruise Posted May 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2017 Don't think you need to worry. You can ask them when you get there. If not maintenance can loan them some hammers and wrenches.
Rare spinnaker2 Posted May 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2017 All jokes aside. Have you been cleared by ur doc to have cervical massages by anybody? Steiner peeps are not medical personnel. I think I'd skip a neck massage without clearance.
Rare RachelG Posted May 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2017 They give you a form to fill out prior to the first massage that asks your medical history. If there is any concern about the neck, they would just not touch that area but could work on everything else. I had a fractured shoulder and surgery for that 3 days before a cruise on Regent. The only way I survived was with massages every other day by the excellent masseuse who also happened to have been a physical therapist in Croatia. He was able to really help with the swelling in my hand and forearm and work on the muscle spasms in my back while avoiding the operative site. rpfarris Posted May 3, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted May 3, 2017 Rachel, that is exactly what I was hoping to hear. I'll report back after my cruise (which I embark TODAY! - Tokyo to Seward)
