Montego Bay Excursion

We are sailing Feb 2017 with family, 4 kids 5-10 and 8 adults. Want to do a beach or fun excursion that is not expensive as some don't have a big budget for excursions. Does anyone have suggestions? After reading other posts it seems MB is not a place to get off and just Wander around or wing it or book excursion at port. Can you please address this point if you have been there. Also, what form of transportation do you recommend...ie taxi, bus?? Thanks for the help. First time in Montego Bay. thanks!!

Our family enjoyed a great day at Doctors Cave Beach Club when we were last in Mo Bay. Entry is about $6 per person and you can rent umbrellas and chairs if you like. No vendors are allowed so it was a really relaxing day. Also, the food was quite good - local fare on the beach.

How did you get there?? Taxi? Bus?? Remember cost??

We took a cab from the port but sorry, don't remember the cost.

A guidebook from your library will be VERY helpful when planning a DIY day! Gives info on transportation, beaches, restaurants, shopping, safety, etc....

MoBay is the port we have not been able to find out much about. We've been there before but flew in and went straight to a resort and stayed there. We will probably try to find a taxi and go to Doctor's Beach Cave. Does anyone know a good shopping place to buy Blue Mountain coffee?
