hi. Any recent cruises who have sailed from venice what time is the best to go to port to board jade ?

We have sailed on her a few times so not really in any rush to board so we could spend a few more hours in venice before collecting luggage from hotel.

Last time the cruise port was so busy. So don't want to spend along time queuing.

The departure time is 6 o'clock and we have to check in 2 hours before.

Last Oct we sailed on Jade out of Venice.

We are repeat cruisers and no longer like to go to board ship early and lug around with carry-on until the room is ready ...

So, here is what we did ....

We had breakfast at hotel and checked out and left our luggage with them. We set off on water bus to Rialto Bridge, got off, did sight seeing, looked at shops, bought souvenirs and found an off-track restaurant for lovely lunch. Enjoyed our drinks and 3 course lunch. At 1:30 we said "Time to go to the ship!"

We boated back to hotel and collected our luggage and walked over to P. Roma and caught a cab directly to the ship. Boarded at about 2:45-3:00 - no queues at all and it was fast boarding - and went directly to cabin.

Dropped off our carry-ons and set out to enjoy the ship and the fantastic sail-away.

We had been on Jade before ...

We got to the terminal at around midday on 20th June, it was very busy but the terminal is a very well oiled machine so we didn't have to wait too long.

Enjoy your cruise :)

Thanks. Was it expensive to use a taxi from p Roma to port?

We hired a private water taxi in advance on the web. We were picked up at San Marco Sq. and taken to the port. I think if I recall correctly, it was 65.00 US but not sure. Let me tell you, the only way to arrive at a port is via a private water taxi. The very best and frankly the only time I have arrived at a port by boat, other than a cruise ship. Way cool, but pricy, worth every bit.

We sailed in May and took a van from our hotel with 4 others. The price was not much with 6 of us. We got to the port around 12:30 after checking in we got right on the ship. It is the best embarkation anywhere, anytime. Even our cabin was ready. We dropped our carry on in the cabin and went for drinks by the pool......drink package....then went for lunch in the buffet.

We loved this cruise, the bev package and the ports. Had the BEST time.
