How long are taxi's available at Canada Place?

Recommended Posts

We were notified yesterday that the airline (AS) has changed our flights for our Princess coastal cruise in Oct. We will no longer leave YVR at noon but rather 2:30 PM which means that we will not be among the first to leave the ship at Canada Place. Will we be able to get a taxi later on in the disembarkation process? I believe the goal is to have all passengers off the ship by 10:30 AM. We will be the only ship at port that day.

Theoretically cabs will keep coming until there's no more disembarking pax. The real question is 'how long will I have to wait for a cab if I disembark late?' and since you're the only ship in port, probably not more than a few minutes (if it was a dreaded 3-shipper, that's when cab queues of over an hour can occur later in the morning).

You won't have any issue getting to YVR in plenty of time to meet their very conservative recommendation (3 hours pre-flight) even if you are the last people off the ship and into a cab.

^Actually Vancouver (~630,000) is very close to Seattle (~680,000) in population, and basically identical to Portland (~630,000). If it were American, it would bump Boston down a spot and sit just outside the top 20 biggest cities.

The CMA (the adjoining cities that if you didn't see a sign telling you that you just crossed into a different one, you'd assume it was just one big city) sits just under 2.5Million - also very close to Portland/Vancouver/Hillsboro MSA at ~2.4M. Seattle does begin pulling away in this category with almost 3.8M - but again, compared to all of the USA Vancouver would slot in between the Denver and Pittsburgh areas, comfortably inside the top 25 metro areas.

Small we are not.

It feels much smaller to tourists though, because the airport is relatively close, the cruise port in the heart of downtown, and the overwhelming majority of popular tourist sites likewise. OP - depending where in Oregon you may already be familiar with Portland and you'll find that Vancouver feels similar in many ways with good mass transit, local booze and food, food carts, bikes a-go-go.

Unfortunately it sounds like you won't have time to see much of the city this trip - but do consider us for your future vacationing needs;-)
