Yacht Club Genoa to Miami

Lets start with check in. This wasn't great in fact it was a bit of a shambles. No yacht club tent, this could be because we arrived too early but there was at least 20 to 30 couples in front of us. The waiting area in Genoa is a disgrace compared to Miami. A butler did escort us on to the ship together with about another 10 couples. You can imagine the people at the back of the queue trying to follow the butler at the front, it was a mess from start to getting on the ship. No butlers about to show the new people around like previously. Didn't get to even meet our butler until we came back from dinner. So not a great start. Thankfully that's were my moaning stops.

The ship especially the Yatch Club is spotless the service was fantastic and it was nice to meet some of the staff who we met on our previous trip. The just couldn't do enough for you. We loved the food in LaMuse but I heard quite a few americans complaining.

We also enjoyed lunch in theOne Pool bar and snacks in the Top sail Lounge. We had pizza delivered for 8 of us late at night and ate it at the One Pool bar. The butler even brought us drinks upstairs even although the bar was closed. Again great service..

Most of the ports were great too and the crossing was so smooth. But don't even get off the ship if it stops in martinque, it was a bit of a dump.

Shows much the same as we had on out last cruise, not really to my taste too much opera. The Michael Jackson show was fabulous though.

Would we go again......In a heart beat

the laundry package was great value for money 20 for $35 or 40 for $50 and you can send them in separate batches.

thank you very much for this review. I always enjoy reading reviews, especially of the YC...

I read in another (quite shocking) review of the same cruise that the meals in Le Muse were terrible, that the menu was the same as in the other restaurants, that the service was not good at all and that there were many butlers, that did not seem to be well trained.

Also,, they stated the same problems in genoa (probably due to the fact, that Divina was there together with Preziosa and Preziosas embarkation took place in the usual terminal whilst the Divina embarcation had been moved to a secondary terminal).

Could you comment on the menu and on the food in Le Muse? Was it really that bad?

thanks again

The food in LaMuse in my opinion was really good, granted there wasn't big slabs of new York strip steaks on the menu and not as much pasta as I'd have liked. There was always 2 starters, 2 soups 2 main courses. The also had a healthy option menu and an 'always available options ' this included soup, pasta, fish, chicken and tenderloin. I had most of these and was more than happy.

Our main waiter Pascale and our assistant waiter Jamal were fantastic, no complaints from me with either the food or the service. The sommelier on the other hand was a bit inconspicuous by his absence. Our waiter made up for this ten fold. And the wine was fab, if you didn't like the wine after tasting it, it would be changed immediately. Hope this helps.

this helps a great deal. Thank you. Phew, really relieved!

Just one follow-up: Did you notice if the menu in Le muse was really the same as in the classic restaurant?

Had a look at the menu inthe main restaurant and somethings were similar. They had shrimp cocktail as did LaMuse and to be fair there was more choice on there menu, but and this is a big but that is were the similarities end.

went there for lunch one day, waited for 15 min just to get a menu. Asked after waiting another 15min if we could place our order. Eventually walked out and went to LaMuse. The menu in LaMuse is not as vast as the main dining room, but the service and the ambience for me more than makes up for this.

We were in YC on this same cruise. True the embarcation at Genoa was slightly chaotic (only slightly) probably due to the two mega ships boarding at the same time. The YC experience was wonderful both in the Top Sail Lounge and Le Muse restaurant. Le Muse has it's own kitchen with its own chef and staff and menu. We thought the food was great as were the Maitre d' Giuseppe and waiters. The Sommelier Luigi was always present but if he was inconspicious it was probably because he was usually chatting at our table. Sorry.

We found the embarkation more than slightly chaotic. And thanks for clearing up for me where the sommelier was. It's fabulous that you got to chat to him for a couple of hours each night, whilst the waiters did his job. Definitely no need to apologise to me, as i said i had a great time.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've just submitted a lengthy review to cruise critic which, if the administrators approve it, should appear in Divina member reviews in a day or so. I felt a little self-conscious writing of a great cruise in YC when the majority of the passengers in the other classes may not have enjoyed it as much.

We had quite a few cruise critic members at the CC meet & mix meeting on 26 October but I'm surprised none of them have added to this particular thread.
