Taxi Question

There will be many tour/taxi drivers offering tours of the island as you walk off of the ship at Port Zante in St Kitts. There is really no need to book ahead except for some of the busy and popular excursions such as the train tour & the catamarans.

No need to book ahead of time -- LOTS of taxi drivers who will be delighted to take you on an island tour. :)

As mentioned, the "Scenic Railway" offered as an excursion through the ship is a very popular way to tour the island. It does fill up quickly so booking in advance would be advisable. ;)

Any idea how much the taxis were charging for an island tour? There will be three women, just a little nervous.

Tour prices can vary depending on where you stop on the tour. Most tours will have a short tour through Basseterre- The Circus, Independence Square, the Co-Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the War Memorial, then you will go out of town on the main island road past Ross University, Bloody Point,Old Road Bay, a stop at Caribelle Batik. They can stop at Brimstone Hill Fortress ( this has an entrance fee ). A stop at Black Rocks then back towards town. They will take you to the beaches if you want with a stop at Sir Timothy Hill on the way. The tour will take about 2-4 hours depending on stops.

We just went last week and negotiated a tour to brimstone fortress, the batik shop (Romney manor) and the beach for $80 (not including tip and not including te $10 per person to get into the fortress). This was for 6 people. The driver stayed with us for the whole day and waited for us while we swam for hours at the beach.
