ArthurUSCG Posted February 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2016 We are leaving BWI at 9:55am and lading in Seattle at 12:35pm. Is there parks/playgrounds near the airport that we can have the kids run around at after being in an airplane for 6 hours? We have reservations at Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort in Olympic NP the next day.
moki'smommy Posted February 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2016 So are you looking for a hotel near the airport for an overnight? Or a park to run around in? Guess I'm confused since you say you are arriving at the Seattle airport shortly after noon but have reservations for the next day. That said, we stayed at the Doubletree near the airport which had a pool but also a large amount of outdoor green space. We were just a pre-cruise overnight so didn't explore the trails, etc. There was also a small grocery store within a couple blocks that I walked to. The Seattle airport is also very nice with reading spaces, kid spaces, etc. If you have time and want to go somewhere, the rapid transit train will get you almost anywhere you wish to go. The airport is one of the big stations, so you can get anywhere from there.
ArthurUSCG Posted February 3, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) This is for when we are arriving from BWI. Our day would have started around 3-4am Seattle time. The kids would be 2, 5 and 6. After 6hrs in the plan (non stop) + 1hr for luggage and car rental pickup, we were thinking the kids would not like being in the car for another 4 hrs to Olympic national park. (we also would not like to be with them in the car) We are flexabile, so if there is a nice park near the airport where we can have them run for a while. Then we could split the drive or we could stay near the airport. Looking at Google maps, it looks like Fort Dent park with in walking distance from the Homewood Suites 6955 Fort Dent Way, Tukwila, Washington. There are 10 people in our group 7 adults and 3 kids. crzndeb Posted February 3, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2016 You might want to post this on the West Coast Departure thread. There are a lot of locals that will be able to answer your question.
Tasm3n Posted February 3, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2016 I live in Seattle. There are quite a few parks in that area. Here is a list including map. http://www.tukwilawa.gov/recreation/Park%20Map%20and%20List.pdf There is also the shopping mall at SouthCenter (Westfield). There is a play area inside that might be better given our somewhat weird weather at times.
