Don’t take this a guarantee as things can and do change from time to time but my last Fred cruise yes they has JW black label. They also had red label and double black (which I like as nice and smoky)

Thanks for your reply, when were you last on Fred and which ship?

  2. We've Never sailed with Fred Olsen before, but watched a lot of YT videos and the World Cruise ambiance and itineraries look very appealing.

One thing, that might seem trivial to others that read this is that my favourite tipple is Johnnie Walker Black Label. I drink 3 or 4 large ones each evening. Every cruise line I have sailed with thus far has stocked it, lucky enough for me, (HAL, Regent 7 sees, MSC, NCL, Princess, P&O, Vikings, RCL etc)

It is super important to me that Johnnie Black stocked on board, or I won't take the cruise of this length. So, do any if you good people know if Black Label is sold on board?

  3. Hi all. I am looking at the Bolette WC2025. We've Never sailed with Fred Olsen before, but watched a lot of YT videos and the ambiance and itinerary looks very appealing.

We have now had the 20% FCC awarded to our October cruise on Sky Princess to the Canaries, so that reduced our outstanding balance.

If I book a Princess Cruise with a travel agent,  can I use the 20% FCC to spend on a drinks package?

Interestingly what he said in his Facebook post is different to what he allegedly said to the Daily mail

Mr Cassidy is reluctant to make a claim on his travel insurance for fear it will push up his premiums’

im truly sorry his holiday was ruined, it sounds awful for them both. I hope they can get compensated for the holiday time missed & medical expenses. Insurance should cover both

if what he said to The Daily Mail is true, not claiming on insurance makes no sense.

We’ve claimed for £2.5K on our annual travel insurance just last summer. We’ve claimed for 2 cancelled holidays over Covid amounting to much more than that too. (luckily had pandemic cover- although we only got that addition for the weather travel disruption it also covered)

Our premium increase was v small

I hope this gets resolved quickly

I wonder if his concern about his insurance premium is because of his age? (I don't know it).

I was chatting to one person of 78 that said that when you get to 80, your insurance cost is as much as the cost of a cruise.

I think many cruise ship physicians practice something similar and want difficult cases to get off their ship.

    That's interesting, Hank.

The poor passenger that was lifted off didn't even need to be evacuated. He had muscle strain!

  7. Hi a friend of ours is looking at coming along on our next cruise, but is unsure if there are enough activities to fill her time on sea days.

We can't remember everything, only the stuff that we took part in

, so I was wondering if anyone remember to take pictures of any of the Princess Patter daily program for this cruise? If so - please post them many thanks.

If I recall correctly it was not the Captain's decision but that of the pilot who has a far greater knowledge of the port conditions than anyone onboard. Also what has to be taken into consideration is the conditions at the time of departure and whilst in port.

Yep,  and also the chances of getting away from Iceland to get to the UK by Saturday.

The naysayers, where did they go to maritime school and receive their captain's ranking?  The weather looked okay to me. Swells, winds, tides of the seas and working with port pilots. No captain is risking damaging a close to a billion dollars ship.

Think that the Captain may have chose the wrong time to announce that we had high winds when attempting to enter Akureyri, so had turned back out to sea when at the same time people were on their balconies and on deck and felt just a calm breeze & the Windy app was showing 8 knots. Then because of a medical emergency we sailed back to fjord and towards Akureyri and still the weather was calm, not even white tips on any waves.

Not saying that the Captain was wrong in any of his actions, but the circumstances of his announcements confused people and they have a right to question it after spending thousands in $$$

I always imagined that we'd lose some ports this far north...luck of the draw.

New to this thread. The magic show had very little magic-trick content, just childish nonsense prattle going boringly on and on.

I will say that apart from the afore mentioned, IMHO the entertainment has been very good thus far. The shows and the musicians and artists in the smaller venues have been better than many cruises that we have done.

  11. For me the lesson learned on far northern cruises always choose a ship with a covered/ indoor pool, unlike Sky Princess. Otherwise everyone is squeezing into the inside bars, the outside pools  and outside spaces are almost redundant. This weather problem would have been much more bearable if we had inside deckchairs and pools.

I’m so sad for you both right now 😞

Had a quick look on Marine Traffic. Have you been trying to get into Akureyri and having to come away again?  Your route on the tracker looks a right mess 😱

I hope you guys are ok & they sort out an alternative itinerary for you 😢

    IMG_0711.png

Captain announced at about 8am that he had tried to get into port but the winds were to strong, so we have abandoned Akureyri and set back out to sea.

Then a medical emergency meant that an hour later we were sailing back to Akureyri to get someone to a Hospital. Hope whoever is sick recovers safely.

Now we are headed back out to sea again.

Strangely, the weather seems fine on on deck, and sea very flat, and the wind appears calm. The Windy app on my android phone is showing an 8 knot wind so puzzling to me why we can't get ashore, but that's the captains call, not a novice like me.

Disappointing to hear about the lack of seating in the lounges. That is one of our favorite parts of cruising. IMO that is a huge problem caused by adding private/pay areas and decreasing public areas. I guess I better move Sky down my list 😪

We had that problem with RCI last October. Too many venues that were too small for a ship of 3500 passengers.

It meant that we ended up in the same few areas each evening because we don't like early dining.

  14. HI - Sailing on the Sky Princess on the 13th May, in a day and a halves time and I Just noticed that I need a Jacket dry cleaned. I don't want to chance next day cleaning here in my village in case it is not ready to pick up tomorrow..

Does any one know  if there's a dry cleaning (rather than laundry) service aboard and if so how much for a Mans Suit jacket to be dry cleaned?

    Thanks in advance

  15. Wife and I, then in our early 50's took the HAL Volendam from Singapore to Hong Kong and we didn't think that the demographic was any different to say a P & O. We made friends with a 40 something couple and their 14 year old daughter and  a 20's something couple and enjoyed various day excursions as a group with them (arranged on the fly with local taxis etc) We had a great time. But what we did find was that no matter the age group of he passengers, most people were in their cabins by about 9pm.

It wasn't the age demographic, it was just preference. Maybe people choose HAL for the company of like minded 'early to bed' types.?

We loved our trip, it was our favourite Cruise, the staff and just about everything else was fantastic, and eventually the few night owls like ourselves find each other and met up til' late. The entertainment in the crows nest (I think it was) remained until post midnight for the little group of us that wanted to drink and dance til late.
