  1. Annoyed at NCL. Never going to use them again.
  2. Oh yes they have been on another social media site and a bit unrealistic about their complaints.
  3. I realize the original post was from a few years ago but in answer to DrRuby - We did this a few years ago with NCL and our drop off was by the Palatine Hill near the Arch of Titus between the Roman Forum and the Coliseum. Not sure if they still drop off there but it was a convenient area for the bus to pick us up, too.
  4. I’m glad you’ve rarely experienced any issues on a first cruise after drydock. That certainly was not the case for our cruise on the Spirit in Feb 2020 as she came out of dry dock. Not only was our cruise embarkation in Rome delayed by 3 days (we were only notified of that a week before our expected embarkation) and our cruise shortened by those 3 days, once we got on the ship none of the suites were ready for passengers - there was a pile of equipment outside our bare wall cabin so we spent 2 weeks of a 19-day cruise in a lesser cabin category despite being told on checkin we were upgraded. Hard to upgrade from their suites. We think they outright lied to us so once onboard not a lot we could do about it whereas prior to embarking we could have insisted on a refund and flown home. Yes, we would have done that if given the opportunity to make that decision prior to boarding. We were actually downgraded in our cabin assignment for the first 2 weeks. In addition, there were work crews all over the ship working in hallways with electric cords, open panels and equipment all over and several other areas under construction. One afternoon they spent 4 hours pounding and drilling above our room. It was a cruise that truly tested our patience but we made the best of it since where would we go? So yes, you take a chance taking the first cruise after drydock and schedules of completion are not cast in stone especially now with supply chain issues after Covid. Enough others on Cruise Critic have told stories of problems sailing on the first cruise after drydock. If that is a concern for you, book a few weeks later once the ship is back in service after drydock or book on another ship but remember there are no guarantees your ship will be fully completed on the date they say it will be done.
  5. Thinking about doing an Alaska Cruisetour in 2025. Anyone done a cruisetour to Alaska and can tell me about them? Also, no Alaska cruisetours listed yet for 2025 so any idea when we might see them available to book? TIA
  6. Does anyone know if NCL offers a shuttle into Barcelona from the cruiseport like they do in Livorno so you can walk around and explore on your own? TIA
  7. We are on the Viva in November and stopping in Provence/Marseille. Can anyone tell me what the name/address of the port is?
  8. On our most recent cruise the casino was closed the day before debarkation. In the daily they stated all casino services including the atm would not be available so not sure OP could have used that option either.
  9. Location set for US and not in airplane mode. I turned my iPad off and on again and think it may have adjusted. Thank you for your suggestions.
  10. Just returned from a cruise to Europe. My NCL info is now displayed with “choose a language” and offers English or German. Happened while on the cruise. And when I select English, the pricing is in euros where in the past it was in US dollars. I turned off and restarted my iPad but still get the same thing. How can I reset my iPad to get English right away with pricing in US dollars? TIA
  11. I agree. Wonder why the change but I’d rebook the cruise for another date if possible if the Napali sail by has been removed. The Napali coast was one of the highlights of our cruise.
  12. We just did the Panama Canal in an OS and think it’s the best suite. You have forward views plus you can got on your side balcony and see the action there, too.
  13. We love the forward facing suites with balconies. Yes, windy when at sea but we love the views and seeing where we are going.
  14. We mix it up with NCL and private tours but when we see something we like, we book it right away. NCL tours do fill up and no, they usually do not hold spaces to book once onboard the ship so we book early but know we can always cancel if we change our minds or find something better. The problem with NCL is once you book a tour for your port, the other tours offered no longer show up on your Plan and Explore so it’s tougher to find other tours offered unless you do a general excursion search for port excursions.
  15. Thank you. I was thinking it was canceled.
  16. Thanks for the review Bird but is it still offered?
  17. Is the Velvet Dinner & Show still offered on Breakaway or is that another entertainment option that has been canceled by NCL?
  18. You will love the suite at the front of the ship. We were in it and moved between balconies for our transit of the canal. Best seats on the ship for the PC!!! And in the canal you get to see the locks closing and opening from the front so not sure if you need to go to the aft but it’s a great day of chilling on your balcony!
  19. Yup. I always do but a good reminder for all.
  20. And the second pending charge for NCL Sky has disappeared, too. Phew!!! Saves me the hassles of dealing with NCL customer service and my credit card company. I’m still trying to figure out how charges from a ship we never sailed on get posted but not going to obsess over that. A good lesson learned though - check your credit card charges closely following any cruising so if there are mistakes, you catch them early.
  21. A great review! We were on your sailing, too, and share most of your observations. We had a front facing cabin and were able to be on our balcony for the entire transit without baking in the sunshine plus had a nice cooling breeze. And we did the Cabo camel ride - a unique experience.
  22. Well one of the charges has dropped off this morning. I’ll keep watching if the other one does before pursuing them via telephone or case submission. NCL bookkeeping defies logic!
  23. We returned from our cruise on the Jewel on Jan 26. I checked my credit card and see the charges I expected for that cruise on Jan 26 but I have two charges for NCL Sky dated on Jan 24 and Jan 25 which I did not generate. We were never on the Sky. Who do I contact at NCL to get this resolved?
  24. Just got an email saying the following below so think that means no upgrade for us. But we were really happy with our original selection so not too disappointed plus it saves us money. “This email is to confirm that we have received your offer(s) to be upgraded on your upcoming cruise. While your offer has not been selected yet, you may still be selected for an upgrade by our onboard team.”
