Given how often they are visiting it, I think the entire crew will be world class experts in Burnie by the end of the season. 🤪

I also have a 4 day Hobart cruise booked, but in January. Who knows, if you are at the trivia I may see you there.

Haha good point! We did Burnie in March and thought it was delightful - the mayor came on board the shuttle bus to welcome us! Lovely  stuff!

There’s plenty of YouTube clips on this ship - if you are imagining Cunard and port lectures, then this is not the cruise line for  you.  Expecting big sit down shows or  captain announcements, again, not for you.

there’s Scarlet night (where the whole ship is red - so dress up in red ), Pajama night…l plus a few shows in the Manor.

doing the Melb to Auckland trip in March - but wish I could fo the Athens to Sydney trip next year. There were a few deals a few weeks ago offering decent bar tabs (we got $U900)

Well that’s just it. We have seen some YouTube clips showing PJ parties and all the dining options so as aware of that. However I’ve since seen mention of game shows and trivia so there should be enough to keep us entertained. Thing is - this itinerary is just fabulous and we can’t find an alternative. Happy to do Princess 👑 Norwegian for example but can’t find an alternative.

  3. We have booked for a 4 night Sydney-Hobart (and back!) on Resilient Lady and looking forward to trying it with the idea of also doing the October 2024 Athens-Perth repositioning.  I'm on top of things with regards to the app, check-in, Hobart excursion booked (beware, the cruise was in AUD but the excursion was charged in USD although quoted in AUD, so we incurred international transaction fees) BUT I would love to know what the entertainment on board is like.  Afraid to say I am mad keen trivia player and wonder if that's too old fashioned for Virgin; or do they do upcoming port lectures for instance???  Anyone able to help?

  4. Can anyone confirm if gratuities are in fact included in our Australian cruise fares?  Because our travel agent seemed to think our Sydney-around NZ cruise would need to have gratuities paid and of course we are only a few days away from setting out and I've just thought about it!

I have no experience with Nieuw Amsterdam but I like to use the deck drag feature of cruisedeckplans.com.  Here is a link to that page.

Just click on the cabin in question, slowly drag that deck to the deck above it and line up the stairs or elevators to make sure you are locating it properly.  Looks like J1031 is right near the Billboard pianos like you said.  The J1063 is under Queens Lounge and Culinary Arts Center as well as being connecting.  I have no idea what they use that area for nowadays.  Hopefully someone else has some ideas for you.  Good luck!

Wow what a fantastic site, thanks so much for sharing!

The Coral Princess was due in Napier on Sunday 12th Feb. Captain Pears told the passengers that he had to decide that morning to cancel the port call into Napier. He said that with 'Gabby' chasing us, if we went in, we wouldn't be able to get out.

I will prepare a longer review of the cruise. We just got home today and I am trying to catch up with emails etc, then un-pack. Laundry might have to wait a day or two.

Did they take you to another port?

We are there on Quantum on the 20th of March. I can't see why they wouldn't go there still as I don't think the waterfront was destroyed.  Now if you have a tour booked that could be a problem.

But of course we do haha!  It is absolutely awful that the tourism industry is going to be so badly affected just as it was picking up again.  I have wanted to see Napier's art deco architecture for years, so very disappointed; we will just have to make another trip next year!  Wondering where we will go instead, though.........

I am logged in in all the time

Does your browser clear the cookies automatically when you close it ??

I am on laptop using firefox

Hi LHT28!  I don't think the PC does that as it will keep me logged into other sites quite happily.  However, I have just realised I haven't tested it on either the Ipad or Iphone, so will do that before I get any more hot and bothered!  Thanks though, I may just have to call in a tech expert!

At least you are receiving notifications. 🙄 I'm not. I have to go to the notification bell (upper right) every time I come to Cruise Critic to see replies.

Hi Coralc, well, I actually may be able to help you with that!  If you click on your user name (on the upper right), and then underneath that,  "manage followed content" you have the option of choosing how often and in what way you receive notifications.  You just have to turn on email notifications .... please let me know if it works for you!  I get the notifications (eg emails) but have to log in with the password EACH time to respond.    Although having said that, that's what happens on the PC, maybe I should see what happens on the Ipad and Iphone.  Hmmmmm....... good luck anyway!

  10. Hi Kiwis!  I have tried to start a roll call three times and think I may have finally done it on the fourth attempt - it's a shocking website despite following the instructions.  Anyway will check in a while and see if it's still up (it's gone up before and then vanished, very frustrating).  Won't bother again if this doesn't work.  We are in Sydney and it's our third time on NCL.
