  1. Following, I'll be on the Breakaway in just 19 days! First time in NOLA and so looking forward to it.
  2. January 27th - duly noted! I'll be off the Anthem on the 18th so I'm sure by the time you sail I'll be going through major cruise withdrawal. :)
  3. Wow, what an incredible review...just found it this evening and have read all of the posts. I'm on the Anthem in early January and all of the info is welcome. I'm actually thinking I may do a BOGO (and this from a cheapo who rarely does specialty dining). I'm a little disappointed at the beer menu, pretty short but they have my fave, Blue Moon so I'll be good. The one thing that surprised me was that the Solarium Bistro was not a la carte. Definitely going to check it out. Hope you had safe travels home!
  4. To official retirement date - January 31, 2019 - 102 days To last day in office - November 29, 2018 - 39 days # of working days including today - 21!
  5. Following! Even if I am too late to get in on a share of the lottery winnings. đŸ˜› St. Kitts was one of my favorite ports - I'm looking forward to getting back there in January on the Anthem. On my first visit we did a little train ride around the island. It was ....okay. But the island itself is beautiful. For St. Thomas, you could take the ferry over to St. John.
  6. Very much enjoying your blog! The commentary is well written and the photos are terrific. I'm on the Breakaway Dec 6 out of NOLA, my third NCL cruise and first on the Breakaway. All the info you can provide about the ship will be very helpful.
  7. Following, Vancouver Island is one of my favourite places in all of Canada. Hope to visit there again soon...and it will be awesome to see it through your review!

    # days to your next Princess cruise

182 days to the Star Princess - Santiago to LA
  9. I started posting here a few years out, as of today my retirement is 145 days. But, I'll be out of the office for a good portion of that time, my last day in the office is only 82 days away. Best of all, when I count the days I have to be in the office...I'm down to a mere 44 days!

Doing it yourself at LA SERENA (COQUIMBO), CHILE

I am there next March.with Princess and was disappointed to see the cost of the DIY tour. I picked up a Lonely Planet guide to South America, and according to their info there are 29 churches in La Serena, a few museums, and a few restaurants. However, there are a number of nearby beaches. I haven't decided what I'll do but for certain I won't be visiting La Serena on the DIY...as you note, the price is ridiculously high.

Help deciding between 4 Caribbean Cruises

I agree! Both itineraries are great. My first cruise was a 14 day southern Caribbean cruise on Princess - I was hooked. We did not do a lot of excursions on that cruise - most islands we simply wandered nearby the port, and when we wanted refreshments we found a local bar/restaurant by the water and enjoyed. It was unforgettable.
  12. Following... I couldn't believe when I searched "review" to find this. Surprised but so happy. Way to go Owen! Things were getting a bit boring here on CC after Rick's last cruise so glad to see your dad and mom acceded to your request. :)

    Compulsive cruise prep

I must admit I'm pretty compulsive with certain things. For example, I have a document entitled, "if I were to die today" that provides the info my family would need to know including life insurance, pension info, financial details, etc. I update it every time I travel or when something changes significantly. I'm retiring at the end of January and for the past couple of years I've kept track of the work days remaining using a spreadsheet calendar. I've reduced the days by earned days off, vacation, stats, etc. As of last Thursday I had 55 days left in the office! So yes, I think I'm pretty compulsive. :p
