To me, pink and smallish rooms aren't a concern. I do like the fact there is food available all the time so one doesn't have to be looking for place to have a snack or lunch. Both Continental hotels are a convenient spot for sight seeing, getting around Barcelona at a reasonable price.

We stayed at Continental 3 years ago. The location can't be beat since it's right on Las Ramblas. The hotel is nothing fancy but it's clean. We don't spend much time in our room. If you book early enough, you might be able to get a balcony overlooking L.R. Saved a lot of money on food, by just eating off the buffet. We rode the HoHo bus all over Barcelona. They have 3 different lines, so we went from one to the other. And yes, it is still pink but I thought it was kind of pretty.

Desert Cruizers-Hindsight is always 20/20. Maybe, your travel agent will give you enough shipboard credit to make up for anything you lose by cancelling the Allure.

Royal probably isn't in any hurry to notify anyone on the Allure sailings. They want to hold on to that money as long as they can.

Molly & Ken we spoke with Customer Service from RCCL and upon receipt of the 2nd Certificate each in the amount of 300 (150 PP ) from our past Bookings on the two Allure sailings for April 19 & 26th of 2020, my TA is to call in before Cert expires to have a total of 600 FCC applied to the two Freedom sailings for March 1 & 8 of 2020. Good news.

Why didn't your agent just leave the booking on the Allure and wait until Royal cancelled it? Nothing would stop you from making a reservation on the Freedom and paying the deposit, which sounds like what you did. You wouldn't have been out any money, if your agent hadn't cancelled the Allure and you wouldn't be messing with FCC's, since you'd have gotten a refund for the full amount.

Even the original post said paid in Euros.

Once you have booked and see your category room go down in price, just call in and get the reduced rate. I probably check ours regularly.

Evidently you only read the original post. The O.P. is from Spain. DiffErent rules apply outside U.S.

Should have added elevators to the BAD area. Always crowded and waiting time could be long depending on time of day. We used stairs as much as possible.

I agree. We've sailed on Oasis Class ships three times. The last time we sailed on the Allure. The whole ship felt crowded, especially in the Windjammer. Central Park was even crowded. The last morning in the Windjammer was chaos. I doubt we'll ever go on this class ship again.

Gay, I’m not quite Asure why your TA cancelled the Allure cruise and booked a new reservation on the Freedom. She could have just easily switched sailing dates and then you wouldn’t be having to wait on the FCC.

Also, you wouldn't have the $100 penalty, if you'd just waited until RCCL cancelled the cruise. Plus you lose any shipboard credit you would have gotten from them for cancelling the cruise. If I'd had a cruise booked for 2020, I believe I'd have waited until Royal cancelled my cruise. Not likely Freedom would sell out this far in advance. I don't worry about things like that. I'd rather have the money and then book my cruise.:confused:

Stop calling the phone reps, if you feel you're being nickel and dimed. They won't call you. Once onboard, a simple, no thanks has also worked for me or just shaking my head. Same thing in any ports and just keep walking.

I think over planning can ruin a cruise more than under planning. You're on a ship. Just go with the flow. You can always eat in the Windjammer on those days you don't want to spend two hours in the dining room. Be flexible. There's a lot of people who plan each day as it comes and have a great time. We never make plans for every port and a lot of times just walk around, go to the beach or spend the day on the ship.

I'd say it depends on how much stuff you take. I've always found the storage to be sufficient.

We've been on several cruises at Halloween and from what I've seen, there haven't been a lot of kids on our Halloween cruises. It's been mostly adults who dress up. Probably, because it's less than a month before Thanksgiving break and after that, Christmas break.

Case in point-You only had one couple with you and not 10 people. Also, sounds like you didn't ask. BIG difference.

I book direct with Royal and then transfer booking to my agent within 60 days. I've received several thousand dollars in shipboard credit doing it this way. Since I'm a very low maintenance customer, the only reason I use an agent, is for the credit. She profits and so do I. :)

It seems to me, Royal is catering more to family cruising these days and the WJ fits in more with the family concept. Cruising has changed so much, in the over 25 years we've been cruising and in my opinion, not always for the better. On our last cruise, on the Allure, the WJ was always crowded and the last morning was chaotic.

No it's not. You don't know what you're talking about. One has a deductible and paid after the other one paid.

We buy cruiseline insurance since it's usually very inexpensive and does cover several things, however, we purchase GeoBlue annually for additional medical and evacuation coverage. Last trip, my husband had to visit the medical center and both companies paid.

Well, this just gives me the kick I needed to start looking at other cruiselines. If they're not loyal to me, why should I be loyal to them? You'd think they'd be adding benefits, not taking them away. They have a lot of ships to fill and there's a lot of competition out there.

Are you calling the O.P. a liar? Were you there? Just because it hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean it didn't happen. Frankly, food and service isn't as good as it used to be. We're also thinking about trying a more upscale line and we've been cruising on RCCL for 25 years..

Perhaps, the question about sweat pants has more to do with how other people will look at someone, instead of if it's o.k to wear them. Several people have posted pictures of nice looking sweat pants, which imo would look fine in the dining room. Most people don't like to stand out.:)

It's hard when you get the "Preparing to Depart" flyer so soon after you board.

I agree. It seemed like we had just got on, when we were preparing to get off. We dec'd never again would we take less than 7 days. Really prefer 10 days or longer.:p

Our first cruise in Europe, many years ago, was called European Capitals. It was on Holland America, the theme and food were based on the country you were traveling in. I don't know if they still do that or not, since we travel mostly on Royal now. A lot of things have changed and now Cruiselines are more alike than different. I'm glad I had the opportunity to experience the "old days".
