Delighted to report that our double points for booking a cruise have now been posted. We booked 30/04/21 and sailed last week on Silhouette, in 2A balcony cabin = 3 points per night x8 nights

    =24x2 =48

Also, 1 extra night for Go Green reduced laundry service:

    48+3= 51

My points yesterday were 631+51= 682

    🎉

Somewhat off topic but do you remember when that promo you booked under ended? I booked a cruise on May 28, 2021 and I can’t remember if it included double points. I contact Celebrity but the rep was entirely confused by my question and started saying only Apex, Millennium and Summit applied for double points (which I know is not true).

  2. It’s really going to depend on which beach and if there are shops immediately at the beach facility.  If the beach property has shops, you can visit those.

When the excursion is over the bus will drop you off at the port. Sometimes you can visit the shops which are in the parameter of the port. It’s very possible the shops may not even be open.

When I was in St. Maarten in June, the shops were completely closed inside the port area.

Do you know which beach you are going to? Perhaps someone has recently gone there and could provide more info.

  3. I originally was in an SV and booked the Elevate package which included included $300 in OBC.  I then called Celebrity this evening and upgraded to an S2 and paid the difference.

I asked if I would be refunded the price of the elevate package as I no longer needed required it since premium drinks were now included as part of the S2.  The rep told me the package was automatically canceled.  When I asked for a receipt to show cancelation she said she could not produce one because the cancelation was automatic, but my credit card would be refunded in 3 to 10 days.

Has anyone heard of this before?  To add further confusion, I already spent the $300 OBC which was part of the Elevate package, but when my booking was updated to the S2, I only received $300 in new OBC and not the $600 the booking stated.  I think that will be a wash, once I am actually refunded for the Elevate package.

Thanks in advance and hopefully someone else can relate.

Well, it's a done deal! Just got off the phone with my Vacation Planner and paid the extra for the upgrade! Will post a full review when I get back. Thank you all for your input!

You will have streaming internet and therefore CC will load properly. Maybe you can do a live review now 😄

We sail on Edge this Saturday.  The minimum move up bid for us from a SV to a SS was $1000 per person.  We bid $1060 and did not get it.  It's doubtful we will since now all the SS are sold.  We still have our fingers crossed though for a last minute cancelation and an upgrade at the pier!

This actually surprises me that you didn’t get it. SV are highly sought out cabins due to the traditional balcony. I would think X would upgrade you to free up a SV cabin which would be sold in hours.

I personally think that Celebrity will always be a step up from either NCL or MSC, regardless of cabin choice.

I can’t speak from personal experiences yet but looking at the Retreat area on Edge class videos and comparing it to the Breakaway (+) class Haven...I am very underwhelmed by what I see.

This is only taking into account the the suite areas themselves of course. I haven’t been able to find any comparison reviews which talk about service levels or actual experiences.

  7. Im not surprised by this. A few years ago I use to sail with Carnival and the entire buffet was self service, except for the bacon. They always had someone there to dish it out.

You can imagine the look on my face when I sailed with other cruise lines for the first time and the serving tongs were faced outwards toward the guests. LOL

Sign up on the website for an appointment.   They ask a series of questions.  If you answer them truthfully I believe you will qualify for the test at no cost to you.

That’s what I thought as well but post #5 says they had to pay. Ughhhhh

Anyone have experience using CVS and indicating your test was for travel?  I’ve taken countless tests through CVS and up until a few weeks ago there was no option to indicate travel.
Im sailing 9/4 and have already booked my

test...now I’m regretting being honest and saying it was for travel.

My travel agent just called.  I am Elite.  They said it was $22 a day to upgrade to stream on the 9/4 Edge sailing.

Im also on the 9/4 edge sailing. If you booked under Always Included you already have Surf Internet. To upgrade to Stream it is $18 per day.

Elite is 30% off, so you’re paying $12.60 per day, per device. So your total will be $88.20.

If anyone quotes you a different price and you already have Surf Internet, they are not applying the correct package to your booking.

  10. I called today as well to upgrade from Surf to Stream.
As a select member I get 25% off so the price per day came out to be $13.50.

Just make sure you let the rep know you are upgrading your current surf package to stream.
When I originally called on Thursday, the person I spoke to didn’t upgrade my internet but rather charged me for a whole new package. Luckily, it was Cruise Critic to the rescue and saved me about $70. Had I not looked at these boards I would have never known I was overcharged.

  11. This question isn’t related to tipping but has to do with Luminae.

Would attire that I wear in the MDR meet the dress code requirement? Or can I expect to see men in blazers and dress pants in Luminae?

Just one or two responses are fine. I don’t want this to turn into a dress code thread.

    Thanks in advance.

I've been told on this forum that you can't post on CC unless you have streaming? Sounds crazy to me. True/false?

True for me. Had surf on Millennium in June and Equinox in August.

It’s one of the reasons I’m getting streaming for the Edge in September.

Maybe it depends on your device though? I tried on an iPhone 11 and Dell laptop and wasn’t able to.

I think you were charged for a new single device package instead of an upgrade. This is what originally happened to me and the cost was almost the same.

Check your email for the transaction; it should say ”Always Upgrade to Xcelerate Stream 1 Device”, not ”Xcelerate Stream 1 Device.” If it doesn't, call them back to get it fixed.

You are right. Thanks for your help. Now I’ll have to call 😌

I think you may be the lucky recipient of a pricing error.  The Surf to Stream upgrade with the 35% Elite Plus discount is $11.70 pd, so 7 days should have been $81.90.

    I’m super confused now...

I paid $165.41 to upgrade from Surf to Stream for a 7 day cruise. I’m Select, so 25% discount.

So that’s $23.63 a day. Did she over charge me?

Hi - we sailed with Deepak as the GM 4 times on the Escape in 2018.  He remembered us each time and took great care of us, as did his team.  It is always nice to see familiar faces on NCL cruises, and somehow they remember us from prior cruises, which is amazing considering they deal with thousands of people a week.  We always try to be nice, which probably helps.  Anyway, we hope he is still on next month.  Deepak is on the far right in this picture.

There’s Mandy 😁. She’s one of my absolute favorite Cruise Directors.
