That is rather why I asked which dock you were leaving from.

    See here

    https://www.cruisemapper.com/ports/southampton-port-115

    scroll down to the map

this will give you an idea of the problem - there are 4 cruise terminals.

Some can take more than one ship

if you click on "Schedule"  it has the dates in Aug 2023 when Disney ships are in

but they may not have allocated a berth yet.   Aug 19  4 Ships showing  so busy

    Aug 26 3ships.

Berths can change  anyway and you may depart from one and return to another.

Maybe open  a googlemap of the area and see where the hotels are.

We have stayed at the Moxy   @John Bull mentioned and it was good and

we walked to the  QE11 terminal from there.  ( It is a Marriott Hotel and I am not sure

if their points interchange with Hiltons)

Looked good but the moxy is 17 square meter rooms and they’re saying it won’t fit two cots. The issue I am having everywhere apart from anges Hilton

Which dock are you sailing from?    on cruise days southampton can be

chaotic  last twice we have been  we walked to the ship  2 of the 3 docks are quite a hike

One you can get a  bus near to but its still some way.  Taxis are queueing for ages.

not to sure, we are sailing with Disney

what hotel would you suggest booking between the two

im guessing I could book a transfer in advance

  3. I was just about to book our testing for our cruise on 28th sept going out of Rome and going around greece

just checking firstly that this test is still required and a video appointment would be accepted as proof

Does anyone think I should wait a bit longer to see it the rules change before the cruise in three weeks time?

Check out their updated testing protocols, they don't need to be supervised any longer if I am reading it correctly.

We will begin accepting results from self-administered home tests. See full testing details

    https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/what-tests-are-accepted-where-to-submit-the-results

Yes your right but it sounds like that’s only if there are no stops in Greece

Accepted Tests for Europe Cruises Departing on or After September 5, 2022; with no stops in Greece

    • The test you take can be professionally administered by a health professional, such as a doctor or pharmacist, or you can use a home test kit. Home test kits for these sailings are not required to be administered under live video supervision.

To be accepted  by Royal Caribbean the test must be proctored/monitored by a qualified medical technician.

I was going to use docHQ so I’ll need to pick the option for them to watch it via webcam

If you are comfortable with the driving (which is what I would do) I'd suggest you aim to stop over twice - perhaps Yorkshire area and then Cotswolds / Oxford area. Then proceed to Southampton on the day of the cruise in time for early check in.  Probably aim to just stop once on the way back - perhaps Derbyshire area (North of Birmingham anyway)

If not comfortable driving - best seems to be direct train to London (perhaps stay over in London) and then train to Southampton

    Enjoy the cruise whatever

We took our three children on the Disney Magic many years ago - they loved it (as did I )

Aged 2 or 3 is however very young - whilst they will no doubt love it, I suspect they will not remember too much of it and you may have to go back and do it again when they are a bit older as well !

Special times - enjoy while they are young

Yeah that’s a idea and makes it a bit longer the trip too

well there very good travelers there were in Florida in May at 13 months old for 17 nights and they loved it, had two flights to Orlando and never cried on the flight for more than 10 minutes all in, we’re great around the parks too

we are doing a royal Caribbean cruise next month too around Greece so they will be well traveled already before there Disney cruise

That's because they are all different things.

The "babies and tots programs" are like going to "story time" at your library -- it's like a "mommy and me" class or a playdate where the parent stays and participates in the program.

The "babysitting" refers to IN YOUR STATEROOM childcare -- it used to be a service that was provided in the past.  Two employees from various departments (food service, laundry, whatever) would come to your room and babysit your children in your room while you went out and about in the evening.  I believe they dropped the program due to liability concerns (no cameras in staterooms, but they have them in the nursery).

The "nursery" is a drop-off program for children under 3yo that is on newer ships.  See how it says  -- Nursery drop off not available on: Empress, Majesty, Jewel, Adventure, Explorer or Voyager of the Seas -- that's because those ships didn't have a nursery area built into them.  The nursery accepts kids in diapers, whereas the regular children's program requires kids to be potty-trained.

    I hope that clarification helps.

Thanks for confirming, no need to panic after all 😂

Trainline currently have a discount on Railcards, 33% off; so £20 for 1yr or £47 for a 3yr card... travel 1st class to London! 🤩

as much as I would love to do that, I would probably Ned to leave it as I would want our two year old twins annoying any first class travelers

We were last on Odyssey in March and rules had just changed again for Adventure Ocean/Nursery from a month prior when we went on Symphony. So you may find more up to date info than this. However, my suggestion is once you are onboard, IMMEDIATELY make your way to the nursery to register! They do not take as many small kids as they do in the other groups. Plus, you have 2 kids! Up front I believe they were allowing 10 hours per child for initial bookings (choose your days and times). Other than that, you could stop in and if there was an opening, you could leave your child. I will say, every time we passed by the nursery, there were only a couple kids and it was spring break! They do not charge gratuity to your seapass card. However, at the end of the cruise, we always tipped (cash!) the crew members who took care of our kids. 🙂 Have so much fun!

    thanks, that’s very helpful

when would you suggest going back if you wanted more hours than the first initial lot they give you?

do you remember when it closed, I’m guessing they have cribs if it’s during nap time

The amount of time you will get in the nursery will depend heavily upon how many hours others might want to book. I think they allow you to book 10 hours to start, after which you would need to check availability. Some have reported that they were able to book all they wanted.

That’s good, one person on here said it stated u can’t leave them at the nursery and u need to be there but that doesn’t sound right

Does anyone know how tipping works at the nursery, do they just add 18% to the bill like they do with spa etc
