The cruise line will not provide a double stroller.  Getting on and off a tour bus with the twins and the double stroller will be a nuisance for both you and the others on the tour.  Walking the hills and narrow cobblestone streets with back issues, hmmmm, that will not be a pleasant experience.

so you think two single strollers would be better 🤷‍♂️

no I don’t expect them to give us a stroller. We need it through the airport etc anyway

I can’t see it being a issue them putting the stroller underneath in the luggage part of the bus, surly thousands of people have used strollers on excursions

Well, my wife uses a travel mobility scooter, obviously not the same thing, but we traveled all over the world with it.  Is it comfortable? No.  Can it be bumpy? Yes.  Are sidewalks sometimes complicated - narrow and with obstructions?  Yes.  But it is not really different with steollers, but you might reconsider a double wide, and each push one.  Sometimes, I need to give my wife a "boost" going up some areas, but again, it is just the way it is.  Enjoy your trip, don't be afraid, get something light weight, and in the worst case, you might have to carry short distances but most likely not.

    thanks for some great tips

where on the ship do you think we will struggle with most with the stroller, seems the stateroom and getting there is the main issue, I’m wondering should I just get a room near the elevator to sort that issue

we do have one of the smallest double wide strollers you can get, but may need to buy singles if that’s what we need

Ignore this ridiculous comment.  We flew to Europe to do a cruise with my daughter when she was one.  Different?   Absolutely.  Would I do it again if I went back in time.  Absolutely.

yeah I’m not even nervous, after flying to America for 17 nights and seeing how much they enjoyed the parks and everything I no they will love it. Barely cried the whole of that trip. As soon as we got back the crying starting again, they just love doing things and not being stuck in the house. I was amazed cos they only had 1 hour naps max in America every day and they weren’t even moody

so when did you use your stroller on your trip at one, eg excursions, by pool deck 🤷‍♂️

Well, first, you said how to find a double stroller?  Just like all vacations, you need to bring your own supplies, so it's time to go shopping and pick items that will work for you.  It is part of the cost of doing vacations.  By my second vacation, I was using umbrella strollers and leaving the big one behind.  An umbrella stroller is easy to manage on tours.....a wheelchair is not, so that is why they tell you about mobility devises.  A stroller is nothing like a mobility device.  You are never going to find the perfect remedy to your specific needs, but whenever possible, you should try to do things on your own, or with a taxi, etc just because it might also make it easier than trying to do things with big crowds. It might be more enjoyable for you, and having less stress.

    thanks for your tips

the umbrella stroller sounds good if you can get two that clip together, as that would be easier

so see these excursions that say you must be able to walk 1-2 miles etc, is that still suitable with a stroller or could it be narrow wee up hill roads. It doesn’t really say and wasn’t sure what to do

i think we might try some on our own and 1-2 with the cruise line

I applaud you teaching your kids to be mobile, flexible and good travelers at an early age.  This is a great thing for them.  But this is a message board.  Did you think no one would suggest not going?  CC is kinda harsh.  You have to just skip over unsolicited advice/comments.  Hope you and they have a great trip.

BTW the post to which you referred was not snarky or rude, just an opinion.

Aww thanks, well I think it’s always best to start young, that way your used to it, why wait, you never know what’s around the corner

yeah I think it’s just a silly thing to say to my question, when I’m asking about stroller advice it’s a bit daft advising to cancel a trip and lose thousands of pounds but there we go. I would have never have booked in the first place if we weren’t wanting to go but there we go

I never had the courage you possess , as i waited until my youngest was 6 before our first family vacation .

If you are flying, be prepared for your babies not being able to deal with the change in pressure on their ears. A pacifier will help.

I hope it works out well for you and the family.

i no a lot of people that wait until there older but we wouldn’t want to miss out on 6 years off no holidays, they have been on 6 flights already and have always been so well behaved thankfully

so there very good flyers so far, there just back for an 11 hour connecting flight to Orlando and never cried for more than 10 mins the full time, there and back, we put ear muffs on them for take off and landing which I think helps 🙂

they done long park days too for over two weeks so they do seem to quite enjoy been out and about

  7. Hi

we are doing a cruise on the odyssey with our 18 month old twins in sept and was wondering how you find a double stroller on the cruise

I am also booking excursions and was wondering will the stroller be allowed. A lot of excursions say you need to walk so far and wheel chairs and mobility issues can’t pick this tour etc. does that mean the stroller could be a issue

We are going to Greece etc and everywhere says it’s narrow roads etc so don’t no what to do but my wife still has back issues from pregnancy so holding them all day isn’t really a option. A bit stuck

There is very limited availability once you board. That should be top priority to book if you need their services. And don't ever be a minute late picking up your tot.

Thanks I’ll need to go straight there when we board. How many hours do they normally give you to book. Not sure if it’s so many per a family

  9. Hello

me, my wife and our 18 month old twins girls have a cruise at the end of September booked on the odyssey out of Rome and had a few questions

    - I am trying to book the three day dining package but it does not let me add our twins to the booking (they would be free anyway due to there age). However if I was to book the unlimited dining it does let me add them and it lets me add them to all the excursions etc. Do you know if they must be added or how I add them on. we would need a table of 4 obviously so didn’t want this to be a problem

    - if dining or shore excursions go down in price do I need to wait weeks for them to refund and rebook at the cheaper price or can they issue the difference as a refund or onboard credit, does the 3 night dining package normally go up and down on price?

    - I noticed a lot of excursions are sold out, do they normally add more on closer to the time?

    - finally I understand we both need to do a test 24 hours before (the twins don’t) however is there any further testing through out the cruise and is it easy enough to do testing near the port as that is where we were thinking of booking hotel the night before

    Thanks for any help given

I think that if you sit down and write out your drinking habits, on a port-intensive cruise where you are off the ship a LOT of the time, with 18 month old twins in your cabin, you may find that an unlimited drink package does not work out to your advantage.  Without knowing you personally, I would guess that you would be MUCH better off just having the included (free) drinks, then paying for extras as you go.

What do you mean the included free drinks?

well we aren’t getting off at Naples as we been there a few times. So three days at sea

at the other ports we may do half days some days

normally we would have a drink with lunch and two drinks at dinner straight away. Then probably a few cocktails in the afternoon and to be honest we would normally have a few in the bars etc in the evening. if the nursery is open we would use that sometimes too.

I have never been on a ship with twins though so don’t no how that will work out but I was at a all inclusive resort this month with them and in the evening they would sleep away in there stroller from 8pm until we went to bed, hoping it’s like that next year too but who knows

but yeah we love our cocktails  and we also would be having soft drinks, smoothies and the odd coffee  so I’m not sure how much it would cost with out it

  11. Thanks for the tips everyone, think we are just going to folk out for a taxi, was looking to save a few pounds if possible but the train is starting to sound to stressful

checked the drinks prices again the the USA prices don’t include the tip so it’s about the same. It’s £54 pounds right now with tip. Just hoping it goes down further 🤞 as it is still a bit steep for us. I was in a panic to buy it at one point as it said 30 percent off but as people said sounds like it’s all marketing, think I’ll hold off for now with it

Don’t believe the 30% off they always have some sort of offer on.

    oh that’s good to no

do you remember when they done all inclusive free here in the uk with the premium drinks package. I was hoping that would come back for next year but not looking likely now

  13. 12 minutes ago, Norwich Cruiser said:

You could take the train it could well be a pain though with a lot of luggage.

Another possibility is a shared transfer but again could be kept waiting around for others.

If the ship docks on time and is cleared by customs a 12.15 flight is doable but I’d definitely pre book a taxi it’s about an hour to the airport from the dock but with traffic may take longer.

You could book the drinks package then cancel and re book if the price ( it almost certainly will ) comes down.

You would probably need about five alcoholic drinks per package to break even.

But the package would also include coffees sodas bottled water orange juice etc.

We put pillows round the sofa bed with no problem.

    Thanks for your tips

so you think that drinks price will come down further. Even though it’s saying 30 percent off

  14. Hi

we are planning a cruise 2 adults and our twins that will be 18 months at time of sailing and wanted a bit of advice for our oddsey of the seas sailing

    - is there a cheaper way to get from the port than a taxi, we will be staying in Rome city centre to the port and then port straight to airport. Can’t really find much information about coaches etc

    - do you think a 12-15pm flight on the way back is enough time to get to the airport. Only one flight that day

    - I was going to add the drinks package on but it’s saying it’s £54 normally £77 so it dollars it’s about 72 dollars each a day still. Apparently that’s with 30% off.  Do you think this deal is likely to improve mybe In the January sale or at another time. Still seems quite a lot

    - also the room they said they will only allow one cot and the sofa bed. Anyone have any ideas if they might give you a second cot on board or if not what do you do to make the sofa bed safer for a 18 month year old. The guy on the phone said put extra pillows etc around it 🤷‍♂️

    thanks for any advice given
