  1. I'm using a TA for the first time in maybe 5 years for my upcoming cruise. Her agency has been great with automated email reminders. However I ALWAYS insist on having her also send me the invoice from Royal. Changed cabins, requested invoice. Final payment made, requested invoice. If the TA does not want to do this extra work, then I find a new one. So far, this one is passing my test!

  2. Frequent traveler (weekly business trips) and iced tea drinker here.

My recommendation is to order Twinings cold brew tea bags. They come in several flavors and quickly turn room temperature water (I use 1 bag in a water bottle) into iced tea.

Is there a product like this to make iced coffee?

  3. I will be in St. Thomas on a RCI ship. Will these be the closest beaches? Which one is the closest and nicest beach you can recommend? I have a commitment to get back for mid-afternoon.

We will be docking at Crown Bay. I did not realize that the port was changed from Havensight to Crown Bay for RCI ships.

  4. Crown Bay has some advantages over Havensight. Iguanas are always there and people love taking photos of them. You rarely see iguanas at Havensight.

Crown Bay gets more breeze than Havensight usually. Much more pleasant to sit on the dock and enjoy.

There is a popular with locals eatery at Crown Bay, Island Flava, whereas no local eatery at Havensight.

There is a bookstore at Crown Bay that also has local gifts. Their ink pens made from tropical hardwoods are gorgeous!

There will soon be a local brewery near Crown Bay so there will be even more to do.

Harmony docks at Crown Bay? VERY DISAPPOINTING. We were planning to walk to the tram this trip as we have never done it. And we love shopping at Havensight!

  5. It looks like you are at the West Indian dock/Havensight. There are no beaches within walking distance. The closest by taxi are Morning Star (at Frenchman's Reef), Bluebeard's Beach Club (aka Lime Tree) and Bolongo.

  6. No. The JFK Library is removed from the rest of Boston's tourist attractions. HOHOs don't go there or within walking distance. You'll need to take public transit (Red Line) or a taxi or Uber

Can you advise which stop for the HOHO tour would be best to get a taxi from / to the JFK Library? I am looking for closest proximity, ease of getting a cab, etc. We may want to work it into the day.

  7. You might want to check on the number of ships in Boston on the day your ship is there. One of the earlier threads on this forum indicated taking the trolley was difficult based upon the number of ships that were in port. If you were lucky enough to get on a trolley, they indicated you didn't dare get off because the other trolleys that came by were all full. They had to end up taking a cab back to the ship to make it in time. I think the experience is good if you don't run into those conditions.

How is this checked for Boston?

  8. Late 20s. Wondered if they could park and commute in and stay a couple of nights at a hostel. Saw some at 35-50. Presume per person?

When we sailed from Bayonne in 2014 we parked at an airport parking facility, took the patting shuttle to the airport (free) and then took a bus into Manhattan. I cannot recall the name of the bus but it was a service for air passengers so the carry-on we took was easy. We bought round-trip bus fare which is cheaper. Then the could stay at the Y or a hostel, perhaps in Manhattan which is more convenient than travelling back and forth to NJ for a few nights stay.
