  1. From the NCL Website:

"So many cuisines to choose from! Make dinner on every night of your cruise a delicious adventure at one of our Specialty Restaurants. Kids 3-years old and younger always eat for free. Kids 12 and under eat free from the complimentary kids' menu at all specialty restaurants. Excludes dinner and a show dining events."

    1. For Kids 3 and under it just says "free", but for 12 and under it says "free from complimentary kids' menu". Does that mean under 3 can order off specialty menu for free???

    2. Is the kids for ages 3 - 12 menu a condensed/smaller portion size of the specialty menu, or is it the regular "kids" dining room menu (hot dog, hamburger, pizza, pasta, etc.)??

    3. With regards to Margaritaville; does this mean kids under 12 will have a kids menu to order from for free?

  2. One serious quesrion, why are you so happy about paying for a hamburger? Your point should be im ok with it not jumping for joy wahoo I get to pay for something that was supposed to be free. It looks kind of silly to be so excited to pay for a burger on a cruise ship. If your ok with it that's one thing but this excited?

If he stayed in the Haven why didn't he have the butler get him Margaritaville food?

His claim to have waited in line multiple hours and not receive any food is just too outlandish for belief.

And when he decides he doesn't really want a $40 hamburger lunch for him and his GF when there are other options on the ship, he can just enjoy the longer lines of those venues due to increased demand.

I've never paid for a hamburger on a ship. This whole thing is dumb.

  3. I've heard the shows are not up to par. Am I the only one that Cruises with the entertainment in mind? Besides this is the Norwegian threads right?

Celebrity is a fantastic cruise line. A really good time. Try them out. Experiencing the differences between lines will help you appreciate those differences and discover new things, some you will love, some you will not. We will be onboard again in a few days for the 5 nighter.

  4. Really? New Year's Eve is supposed to be wild and crazy, that's when more clothes come off not on lol.

On NYE cruises I usually see a lot of formal wear/tuxes on men or suits and cocktail dresses. It's a fun night to dress up. Been on many different lines. People are having fun. I've never seen anyone start stripping on deck. The average cruiser body...would not be a good sight for that. Whatever you choose to dress in is fine really. Don't worry about it so much.

  5. It's already been said they can't add more wait staff if they don't have more quarters to put the staff in. If you're talking about taking weight stuff from other restaurants which one do you take from? Immediately decreasing the wait time is a good thing, I can't speak for you but I didn't go on a cruise to stand in line all day lol.

You're on social media complaining about $7 burgers though

  6. Now you are just pulling things out of the sky, for example I had a spa Haven suite and the spa was unavailable and they gave me a $100 onboard credit and I was happy with that. I heard some of the people mumbling and groaning about it but I said come on hey it's A extra hundred bucks

Chris it was a question so simple a kindergartener would understand it and you still didn't. You should tattoo rip me off on your head

  7. this is CRUISE CRITIC - the whole website is designed for us to compare and contrast our opinions of cruiselines. and they have a good point - the buffet and MDR/free food on Carnival is MUCH better than on NCL, which is CRAZY because I will tell you right now, I pretty much will not sail Carnival, so it does kind of irk me to say that. So I am not "propping up" another cruiseline when I say it, just tellign you my opinion, as NCL is competing with Carnival cruiseline and my opinion is that the free food Carnival offers is far superior to NCL, in terms of quality and dining options

He just can't bring himself to say they reduced the value and pulled a fast one on people. He truly believes NCL made this restaurant for a charge for the customer benefit. There is no possible response or question to make him even entertain the idea that NCL could have run the restaurant differently and satisfied guests. It is acceptable to cover up for poor service by instituting new fees to lessen the load on the service.

Think of it like this. You book a plane ticket to Hawaii. Standard coach is $1000. Business is $2000. You opt for business class. When you get to the gate they say we can't let you into business class, but we will still take you to Hawaii! Here is a coach seat. If you want business class still, add another $200. By Motley's reasoning that is a fair deal, because you still end up on the ticket. 99 out of 100 other people would at least want a refund down to the coach price or refuse to pay the upcharge. But to Motley that is sweating a small detail. He truly and honestly believes NCL owes you nothing other than X days on *A* ship, anything else is them being nice, and the customer wanting what was advertised was just naive of the customer and the customer is greedy. If you can't afford a hand dipping into your wallet three times for something it was entitled to once, then perhaps you can't afford to cruise???

  8. I think is the difference between buying a car and simply going on a vacation. It's a vacation to relax have fun and please don't sweat the small stuff.

So if you pay for a spa haven suite and you get on the ship and NCL says no access to the spa unless you spend an additional $200, but you don't HAVE to, and there's no refund for the premium you paid for a "spa suite", would you think that is a fair deal and that you got what you had paid for?

    Yes or not?

  9. I think disparity is a bit of an over reaction. That's the thing cruising is optional nobody has to go on a cruise. Just like there are different options on different ships.

It just means there is a difference between something. It's not an emotion, or reaction, or really even subjective. Look at A, look at B, measure the difference. that's the disparity.

Motley, if I advertised a free bag of popcorn with a movie ticket, and you paid for the movie ticket, and were then charged $5 for the popcorn would you pay for it, or would you say "I was told that was supposed to be included with the ticket price"?

  10. I may have missed it, but has anyone figured out about breakfast at Margaritaville?

    Is it still complimentary?

    Is it ala cart?

Is breakfast even still being served there? (it was for a few weeks, then was not even served last week or so)

Or will this be another "just pay for it, and you'll find out when you get there?" Sort of like the infamous...."Vote for it (Obamacare) and then you can read what's in there"

Unless you are boarding the ship today, whatever answer you get won't matter when you board in the future.

  11. And that is a very good analogy!! If you have a contract that specifies you get desert for the price you paid, you can go to court and probably win. If it is not in writing, tough luck, either pay extra or don't get it.

Same with NCL, if you can show me in the T&C's where you are contracted to receive Margaritaville, you have a good chance of winning. I think the terms specifying that NCL can make any changes they want will trump your free snacks. NCL's advertising information that states that it is free is over ridden by NCL's T&C's.

    bad business.

if this change has no impact, why continue posting. I don't post in threads where the topic has no importance to me or that I don't care.

You obviously care a lot. Your value has eroded but you are too blinded to see.

    Sad.

  12. Just for you, regular fonts!!! I do like red though.

I am happy to get whatever is provided on my cruises. If the day comes that something changes to make the value less than I feel it's worth, I'll go to another cruise line. Right now and for the last many years, I've always received more perceived value than what I've paid. I will continue to bring new cruisers to NCL as I feel the value is there. If another cruise line is ever cruising from a port that I like and offers me at least as much value as NCL, I'll give them a try. Right now, I've not been able to find that value. For five years in a row, my cruise price has dropped for the exact same room. I have not had a single thing taken away that has any value to me. Should that ever change, so will I.

I just struggle with the same small group of people publishing the same negative doom and gloom over the slightest thing.

I traveled for a living all of my life. Everything changes, hotels, airlines etc. Folks say they never change anything that has a reservation, but that's not true. When the airlines quit serving food for free, they didn't say, if you already have a ticket we will still feed you. They just quit, no one boycotted the airlines. Same thing with hotels, when Marriott closed the concierge lounge and free food on weekends, they didn't "grandfather" everyone that was already booked for the next two years, they just stopped. Every cruise line out there is trying new things. Some good, some not so good. We either adapt or drop out. Easy.

    Great

  13. not sure i understand your point.

Does not matter who set it up, it is not NCL who is getting hurt, its the employees, NCL could care less

If NCL could(n't) care less, why should the guest who isn't getting an adequate level of service? Why should I be guilted about a back of the house guy not getting his cut because my room steward sucked? NCL set up the system to distribute the charge, whatever it may be, and obviously this system has it's flaws but everyone here says the crew is happy. So if they are happy, maybe there isn't a problem?
