Someone on my TA roll call has been talking about the Hawaii - Sydney sails. They cited $700 ish p.p. Inside for one of those trips. Spewing it was so cheap for them.

Don't forget the longer the cruise, the older the clientele in general which will mean the higher chance of someone passing away on board. :(.
I can only imagine how much more irritating that would be for the OP. not only do oldies have the hide to cruise & enjoy themselves but whilst doing so, they also up n die on board...... Just disgraceful behaviour you oldies . Hang your heads in shame. Leaving this world doing what you love instead of staring at 4x walls of a hospital room. Tsk tsk. What are you lot thinking?? I can see why the OP is so annoyed now!!!! :p

Also, welcome to CC. Please post back on your cruise experience! I am. Assuming it is your first one? :) I always enjoy hearing about others' experiences!

Hi there,
I'm on the Carnival Spirit departing next week and I was just curious as to what happens if the ship misses a port due to rough weather? For example, if the seas are too rough for the ship to safely anchor at the Isle of Pines, does that mean we sail straight to the next port? And if that is the case, wouldn't that then mean a shorter cruise?
Cheers
:)
I think it means you have longer in other ports! You will not get a shorter cruise :). Worst case you will get another sea day! :D IMO, with I of P, not necessarily a bad thing! Not much on the Isle. Most people on our cruise were fed up and ready to catch the tender back at 11ish in the morning..... :( we were just arriving then ;)).
We did a dodgy little bus tour. $25 au p.p. Fantastic. Loved it. Totally got to see the church, caves, prison some beaches and beautiful graves areas as well as local sports fields n schools / villages etc. it was the only one to catch and left about midday. Recommend it! :)

As I said the add this morning again said as it did on my first post,
These prices include gratutites of $11.50 per day. They are optional, so take them off for an even LOWER price
Note they can't even spell the word.
Yesterday after I gave them a serve they changed to What OzKiwi posted.
"Royal Caribbean - 7 Nights - 2 Adults + 2 Kids from $2019 or pay just $1699 if you dont' wish to pay Gratuities up front!!!"
I then posted thanking them for rewording the add.
The first occasion tells people clearly that they do not have to pay them at all. In fact it is almost encouraging people to take them off.
The second is more leaning towards paying on board rather than up front.
After the first reappeared this morning I wrote an other lengthy reply telling them that they should be explaining to their clients why these tips are in place etc.
The result is that I can no longer see the add or any evidence of my replies on my facebook page. I think they have "unfriended me" or whatever it is called.
That is such poor practice. Very disappointing :(
JUST wrong..... Won't be giving them my money. ;)

I think the fact that you thought Norwegian was part of Carnival is one of the reasons they no longer wish to be called NCL (too close to CCL) and prefer it to be shortened to Norwegian if not saying Norwegian Cruise Line.
I would definitely talk to the Latitude Representative onboard the Sun. I think they will give you Latitude benefits on the second half even if the system does not update right away. :)
Thanks heaps! I will check with them when on board! Really appreciate the responses! If it comes off it will be a bonus, as I figure a cruise will be a ripper!! :D

On our list is an 8N Canadian Rockies land tour, followed by an Alaskan cruise, followed by a Hawaiin cruise, followed by a cruise back to Sydney via the Pacific Islands all B2B2B.
Oh that's right, we fly out next Wed for our trip of a lifetime :D:D:D
YES!!!!
Happy cruising.
Please post back and tell us how awesome it is, and make us green with envy :D

wow.
just amazing!
Thank you so much! I originally saw a package deal from an aussie TA for the 31 dayer NCL Sun cruise around the horn in Nov 2015. I thought, "this looks like good value" & always wanted to do SA..... Had a durry on the internet, and found the cruise for 50% less the package deal. Figured we could get free accommodation on Hubbie's points and surely airfares from Aus wouldn't be as much as the remainder....... So I booked this you beaut 31 dayer on NCL Sun, no idea about the ship or NCL, or SA. (with English as my only language)!!!
Am so amazed and grateful that you have posted this pictorial review. Great photos and utube clips! :)
I am like the other poster, pretty clueless that we would get to see glaciers of the calibre you have shared. I am sooooooo excited now :D! Will be back to get more ideas and help for tours.
Thanks heaps.
& also a big thanks to John for your wildlife ID. fascinating.
Cheers.

I see that Africa is on your list but my advice would be to do a land holiday there. Africa is my favourite continent and there is so much to see. There is nothing better than staying in open camps (as long as you are sensible) and having elephants brushing against your tent or when we stayed in the Okavango Delta in Botswana lying in bed listening to the hippopotamus eating just in front of our accommodation and lions roaring in the distance.
I know that I will probably be flamed for this response as it is a cruising forum and I also love cruising but I think there are certain countries that you need to see by land, India for instance. If you just went to Mumbai you would not have seen the real India.
I have just returned from my 4th visit and this time I went to East Africa. It was tough going at times but the things I did and witnessed made this my favourite holiday so far.
Regards Elaine.
yes, I agree. Australia is the same imo. you miss so much just doing the ports. I hope you do not get flamed, very valid opinion :).
We are doing the Canary Islands, so I can kinda say we are doing Africa ;)!

:) thank you so much for the prompt response! not sure what you are doing "awake" at 1.02am;) but I am grateful for your answer.
I did read the loyalty info, but didn't know if my booking in advance and 1st cruise could elevate me to something more spesh than a noobie cruiser for the 2nd leg!!! :D Would be lovely to get more points for the 2nd leg for booking so far in advance but I am certain that is double dipping!
Not too worried. just thought I'd ask. Nothing can be bad with a cruise like this :D.
Also my bad re Prinny n NCL being competitors, I thought they were all carny brands. I will have to pay more attention and stop day dreaming about the cruise I reckon!!!
Cheers

Thanks for your kind wishes Mic. 1st time as a solo cruiser , 1st time on one of these Carnival ships and 1st time in a Vista suite , so I should have a few stories to convey. If not, I will make something up :)
Bwahhhhhhh ! this is the sort of review I love to read! Never let the truth get in the way of a good story ;), its "Un-Australian" if you do!!:D

Hi all :).
We are booked on a 31 dayer around Sth America 2015. (& yes super excited :D). The cruise is sold as 2x repos cruises. Will we get credit for our first sailing to increase our "status" on the 2nd leg of the cruise? We booked it as 1x cruise if that makes a difference.
I believe the Sun is an older ship, but very similar to what we have experienced on the Sea Princess (ie pax numbers and size). Are we able to transfer any cruise credits from that cruise with Princess?
Any advice for 1st time NCL travellers? Anything difference we should look out for / experience / avoid???
BTW, we don't really give two hoots if we can or can't, just thought I would ask! Interested to hear what others think.
Thanks :)
-
Can you please advise me how this is possible? Because I typically pack as if I'm moving away forever!!! LOL. We are going on the Sun as well and flying across the country so I don't want to lug a whole bunch of suitcases, but WOW 2 carryons for a week.... impressive!!!
We have done NZ for 10 days with carry on and still had room for souvenirs and purchases. :) love the freedom of carryon, but as advised, you probably don't look as swish as the other pax who have packed hair straighteners 5x foundations, 3x night wear shoes and multiple tops with matching jewellery and accessories. ;) It is what you are comfortable with.
We are used to flying so luggage restraints are a reality!
-
I'm interested to hear why people use the specialty dining? Is it a reflection on the mdr or that people want a choice of a different venue?
-
You don't??:D:D
:o no! i didn't know they had bars on the ship even:eek:!!! LOL!
-
Woops, I think I know the answer to question 2
"To print or request luggage tags, you must"
oh dear, I should slow down and take things in a bit more! Well, I'll certainly have that opportunity in 53 days!
Cheers
hi Hawaii. I am yet to travel on X but the Aussie NZ portal here has lots of Aussies who cruise with X, so they may be able to answer specific Aussie related questions :) plus we'll understand your accent LOL! ha ha. welcome!

We have just added the extra days after the 38 days from the Annual Policy, so not sure if you can do it for the beginning of the trip. My best advice would be to give Travel Insurance Direct a call. Any time I have called them they have been very helpful. If you happen to go with them under options there is a section for campaign code if you put in TIDTHANKS you get a small discount. I can also vouch for them when making a claim as two years ago when I had an accident 3 weeks short of going to the USA for two cruises and land vacation, had no hassles making the claim.
I have also looked at InsureandGo's annual policy, but for us is way to expensive (because of our age).
thanks cotton, great to hear from someone who has had to claim, and was happy with the process. :)

1 week to go , I am ordering a sunny day , light winds and a full moon for sail away day :)
Very good, don't forget to write up a scathing review if Carnival do not deliver the above requirements ;)!!
Have a great cruise. One week to go, how exciting!
-
This is my issue, not enough time and money to take advantage of all the cruises I want to do. :D
I know I know. Work is such an annoying pest! But then without would have the time, but not the money :(!!!
-
You are wasting your time, talking to a paid Russian troll:
".... think about it, a real person can't post five days and nights in a row without pausing to sleep. ."
:D Our Mic can, he's a public servant, he can pull straight up 8 hour shifts and not wake up :p !!!!!
Bwahhhhhhh *saunters off chuckling*
-
They know already, have informed some passengers, and yet people have not been allowed to cancel without penalty unless the passenger gets the media or social media behind their cause. Not good public relations.:(
yearh I agree. very disappointing.
-
Excellent
Thanks all
Very happy with vego options !!
Thanks for duty free options on the ship ! We aren't visiting Villa.
Numea - isle pines - lovu - mare : any hints on how much francs to get ??
isle of pines will be very small, not much to do we lucked in with a bus tour. $25 aussie dollars per person. for $50 had a blast. got to see more and do more. Very quaint little island. Most people that go on shore early (like we were still in bed or thinking about getting out of bed early ;)) were lining up looking fed up waiting for their tenders as we arrived at about 10.30am 11ish. glad we got there late as the bus tour left at 12. had we not have done that, would have been dull as. One of our best photos is from Isle of Pines :)
we have only sailed princess. I found their duty free grog very dear, and no cheaper than Dan M with a special :(.
Villa is touted as the cheapest, so a shame you are not getting there.
either way you will have a blast, enjoy it!

Icat. I am assuming $150 pp balcony?? Do u include grats for that??
I aim for under 150 pp for balcony too, but that is pre grats.
My Chrissy cruise was 200 pp for a balcony, but that was over Chrissy, peak time BB cat & included grats so was still happy to pay that for that time frame :-).
