  1. We received the full refund on 11 June for our 2 May cruise which was cancelled by O in March.

Nothing yet for the follow on cruise departing 14 May.

It's making me so annoyed when I read that others have been refunded much later sailings.

Why is O treating it's European customers differently than those from USA? I was willing to allow them some easing  from their contracted 2 week refund clause  due to the present situation, but now I just feel like a second class customer and it is rapidly changing the way I feel about O.

Completely untrue.  It is a matter of terminology. They all end up as discounts.  Here they are called rebates as the cruise lines don't allow "discounts"  You call them discounts but, they in the end are identical.  You pay less money than the posted rate for your cruise.

Our TAs can advertise the lower rate.

Hi all, I wish the prices were going down in the UK, in fact they appear to be going up rather than down! Plus we get very little by way of perks , the T/A’s here rarely give anything away, no extras for us.

That's right TAs here don't give perks. Instead they give a nice cash discount something, I understand, TAs in USA aren't allowed to do. I know which I'd sooner have.

When I go to oceaniacruises.com it goes right to the british site.

Really uncanny. For a long time I have been ignoring it and calling for prices, but it is really annoying.

    Anyway.

I used to get this in reverse I was getting the US site when I wanted  the UK one. I think it happened following a USA holiday. Clearing cookies didn't work but clearing cookies and then using someone else's internet did.

I am looking for some advice from those in the know.

I have four cruises booked over the next 12 months, one in June which I know will be cancelled, and one in September which I guess will be cancelled or which I may choose to cancel as I wouldn’t consider it safe seeing how things are going. Hopefully the others will be in better times.

I am considering my options, whether to take a refund or the FCC depending on whether Regent cancel the June cruise. The 125% FCC is a better option as I can’t get that sort of interest anywhere. I am minded to cancel the September cruise and take the 100% FCC.

I read somewhere that TAs will still keep their commission for cancelled or rebooked cruises. Does this mean that if I take FCC they will not receive commission on the replacement cruise?

The reason I ask is that I wish to change TA as I am dissatisfied with my current. Obviously no TA is going to take a booking with no commission ( unless, of course they are thinking of future business) which means I have to stick with my current.

Any advice would be helpful in making my decisions.

We booked an Oceania cruise using a FCC. The TA deducted this amount from the cost of the cruise and then worked out our discount on the remaining amount. I guess what I'm saying is that the TA will still get the commission but you will have to pay the full cost of the cruise.( ie the price advertised on Regent's web site)

For our friends across the pond our TAs are allowed to advertise a discounted cruise price. The discount comes out of their commission. I don't recall ever hearing of a TA here sending cheques after the cruise or indeed offering refundable OBC or to pay gratuities. The amount the TA gives us out of their commission is always up front.

The travel insurance policy I have ( which was is brilliant by the way) does not require any medical details at all. Therefore I do not advise them of any medication I am prescribed.

Can you tell us the insurers name please.

She said that $50 is correct. Did not tell me it was per cabin (Grr!) Wasted a lot of time on that one!

Does it mean we share the cap and tote bag as well?

    Mia😉

We got a cap and bag each but had to share a bottle of wine!

I found the passengers on O were a bit more feet on the ground

After my Regent cruise earlier this year I did too since I saw several passengers sitting with their feet on the table. In fact one "lady", obviously classier than the others, had removed her shoes. This was on Mariner.

  9. We have our 19th cruise booked so am thinking about our free cruise.

If I understand what you are saying I could book a cruise  6 months after number 19 and then ask, after we have taken number 19, that the booked number 20 is the free one?

Do we get O life choice with the free one?

Do we get O club benefits? eg OBS, flight deviation?

I don't suppose O would let us have 2  x 7 day cruises B2B instead of a one 14 day cruise would they?

  10. LHT28 is correct.

We also got the on board discount for each cruise.

We chose to book it this way as cruise 2 and 3 had both been reduced but the extended voyage had not. ( there's been many disgruntled posts about this happening in the past)

Cruise 2 and 3 were also sold as "Ultimate" (but not the extended cruise).

I certainly know how to do maths.

Nothing has changed. Perhaps you misunderstood your entire deal.

If you are an accurate reporter with this whole cruise having a single booking number, and segments 2 and 3 were already an "extended journey," that part of your overall fare price was already discounted compared to the two individual segments in that extended journey. You would then receive another 5% discount on segment 1 for creating the "custom cruise." (So, no double dipping there with discount added to the existing extended journey discount).

You would also receive all O Life benefits associated with each segment.

As for air credit, you would receive RT air credit for segment 1 and air credit for the extended journey RT (i.e., outbound on segment 2 and inbound on segment 3). What you should not have received (and probably did not) was RT air credit on each segment of the "extended journey" (i.e., RT credit for segment two AND a RT credit for segment 3).

As for the cruise credits, have you double checked that number awarded? I have seen some occasional flexibility in that area. But, it may be worth your taking a second look at what you officially "earned" vs what you got.

My post above is what actually happened. 3 air credits, 3 O life and 3 cruise credits. Although cruise 2 and 3 were available as an extended voyage I booked them as 2 separate cruises.

Incidentally I wouldn't part with any money unless I understood the deal.

Of course, the two segment "extended journey" cruises can be booked as individual cruises, I.e., Segment A OR Segment B. But, if the two segments are also marketed as an official "extended journey," you CANNOT book them as two separate cruises (each with their own original booking names/numbers) - each with RT airfare credit, multiple O Club perks, etc. If your TA does this, the error will get caught by the booking software.

    Has this changed recently.

We booked on board last summer for an autumn departure and received full O life benefits, air credits and cruise credits for each of the 3 b2bs. The second and third cruises were offered as an extended voyage. What we didn't get was the 5% discount on the 2nd and 3rd cruise. We did get it for the 1st though.

  13. I've still got the Currents and this shows that, like you, we were there 1300 to 2300. We arrived earlier though, but due to strong winds, it took some time to start tendering. The shuttle dropped us off at the Visitor Information Centre on Foyle Street. Last shuttle back was at 2130.

We walked the walls and did some shopping. It wasn't very nice weather, wet and windy, I hope yours is better.

Janet - that is exactly the same letter I was given today.

Indeed, after final payment one will receive OBC of the non-refundable variety (or an upgrade or FCC). I wonder if the OBC is in the amount of difference in the new lower rate vs the original rate or some “random” amount like the OBC for 2nd PPG?

Paul, I would expect it to be the actual difference but who knows. We'll just have to wait and see. It would be nice if we get the choice between SBC and FCC.

The part you underlined is obviously new - probably part of the new “PreCruise OR Onboard savings”.

In the past we have received the lower fare and not OBC. If the OBC is refundable then it’s OK; if not it is of lower value to us.

Its not that new since the exact underlined wording was in a letter we received on board the Regatta in May. ( We booked on board and brought the letter home so we could refer to the T&C at a later date.)

Like everyone else I would sooner have a cash refund but it doesn't look as though it will happen in the future.

  16. This is part of an email I received about the 30 day book before you cruise but I have just checked the wording on a letter we received on board and the terms are the same, ie  after final payment no cash refund. It will be interesting to know if the OBC is refundable but somehow I doubt it.

I don't know what "please note that the precruise and on board savings are not combinable with select promotions" mean. Is this just another let out clause?

**Best Price Guarantee: Booking with our PreCruise or Onboard Savings always comes with our Best Price Guarantee from the day you book up until the day of your future booked sailing. Should there be another applicable public promotion offering a better value through a combination of lower price and amenities on the cruise and category you have selected, you will be able to take advantage of this new promotion plus the added benefit of the applicable PreCruise Savings (Please note that the PreCruise and Onboard Savings are not combinable with select promotions). Simply have your travel agent call Oceania Cruises to have the new promotion added to your reservation (subject to stateroom/suite availability). Should there be a price reduction after final payment has been paid, the difference will be given to you in the form of a Shipboard Credit, stateroom/suite upgrade, or a Future Cruise Credit, at our discretion.

Oceania Cruises reserves the right to correct errors or omissions and to change any and all fares, fees, promotions and surcharges at any time. Ships' Registry: Marshall Islands. Company Registration: 04083983.

  17. Hi Josie

We always take the drinks package as our O life choice but I have looked at our booking and there isn't the option to book drinks on line.

Have you rang your TA or Oceania who I've always found helpful when they've had the opportunity to relieve me of money:D
