I emailed Celebrity about this issue on the 19th of Aug and got this response the same day. Haven't heard a word since....

I like the part where it says follow-up emails may further delay my response :D
Nothing new - I mainly made this post for the bump factor.

or you could tell them Daddy just saved $100 and now you have more money to spend on video games. then they high-5 each other.
Yeah, I guess it's just too much to expect adults to honor contracts that they agree to. Good lesson for the kids.

I think some of you booze smugglers with children are missing out on a golden opportunity. You'll have to explain to your children that even though Daddy signed his name, giving his word promising to abide by the cruise line rules, that really doesn't mean anything because it's inconvenient, expensive, or whatever.
And the kiddies can help, make it a family game! I bet a teddy bear would be a great way to smuggle a 5th of rum or maybe you could fill a bunch of baby bottles with your favorite hooch. Hollow out a big box of diapers for a 12 pack. How about juice boxes? Think outside the box folks!
Maybe the kids can come up with some ways to help cheat, too. Remember, the family who cheats and lies together, uh... nevermind.

Has anyone used rum runners in their checked luggage? Going out of Ft.Lauderdale on Oasis, have any problems?
The problem I'd have is signing my name to a contract agreeing to certain rules and then breaking that contract. If your word is no good, then no problem.

Canada wont let you in if you have a DWI conviction on your record. Happened to friends of ours that we have cruised with in the past.
A friend of mine had a DUI and goes to Canada every year fishing from the US. I think he had to do some paperwork but has always gotten in.

Based on the rules that have been posted in this thread, the penalty from the cruise lines for bringing on alcohol is that it might be taken away from them. If the cruise lines themselves considered this a major problem, then the penalty for this offense would be a bit more severe. Instead, they just take it from you and then return it at the end. No big deal.
The penalty can be much more severe. There are provisions that would deny you boarding or you could find yourself being put off in the next port. No refunds. Read the contract you signed and the guest conduct policy (RCI).
Haven't heard of any of the harsher penalties being used but really, the penalty isn't the point. Either you honor a contract, your word, or you don't.

... I follow most rules but I am much to smart to follow every rule society has placed upon me.
So, you're "much to[sic] smart to follow every rule society has placed" on you. Oh please, you're not Rosa Parks lol! It's not a societal rule, it's a contract that you agreed to, at least on RCI. You just evidently see no value in keeping your word or living up to a contract. But, if it makes you feel better to think it's because you're too smart, well.....

Now, I'm no lawyer, but I have seen them played on TV but it doesn't say that they DO prohibit or restrict it, just says that they MAY. Sounds discretionary on the part of the cruise line (this one at least). So if you do bring alcohol with you, you are technically not violating their rule, provided you accept that they might take it away..........:D
Perry Mason you're not. From the RCI Guest Conduct Policy:
"Guests are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages onboard; with the exception of
embarkation day when guests are permitted to bring onboard with them up to two (2)
bottles of wine (which are subject to a corkage fee) per stateroom."
No exception for the guest's convenience, no exception if you think it's a stupid rule. I really don't care if you want to smuggle alcohol on board. Just don't tell me that it is right or justified.
-
"Passenger further agrees that Carrier may prohibit or restrict Passenger from bringing any alcoholic beverages for consumption onboard the Vessel and agrees to comply with any Carrier policy covering such matters."
That's from the RCI Cruise Ticket Contract. I assume other lines have the same wording. I accepted these rules when I agreed to the contract. If you disagree, don't sign it. Doesn't matter if the rule is stupid, counterproductive, unenforceable, or whatever argument you want to use to justify breaking it. You accepted the contract. Maybe your word means nothing to you, mine does to me.
I'll admit that the fact that these rules are broken has absolutely no effect on me, doesn't diminish my cruise experience even a little bit. I just think it's wrong.

Kantours dot com does snuba in St Kitts. It looks like the same tour that RCI has available as a ship's tour.

Tilos Getaway Travel Fins for wide or large feet
I just bought a pair after losing all feeling in my feet in a pair of very tight XL full foot on a snorkel excursion.
They are open heel and I'm trying to decide if they will be comfortable with no boot. I think there would still be plenty of room even if I wore the boots but I won't know for sure until the end of Feb....
"The Getaway are an open heel strap design whose foot pocket is very forgiving for those people with E to EEE width shoe sizing. They may be worn with a wetsuit boot or water socks and those with average shoe size widths would have to wear them get a proper fit. They are great for traveling as the lengths measure just 18 inches for the small/medium size and 21 inches for the large/extra large size. Those with a size 14EEE shoe will fit in these as we know of snorkelers who have this size and wear them when in the water"

I'm booked with "tall building" tours and have the same problem so I don't think it's TA specific.
