  1. Well, as Fpacifico stated, I screwed up and lost our reservations. Fortunately we were still able to book the included excursions for these ports and was able to add one optional excursion.

    Thanks for the learning experience.:)

Sometimes the tour you want may open up so keep checking and check on the ship, that was another recommendation from another. Glad that you at least got something

  2. But English Voyagers comment about "all inclusive" was attached to a post from someone commenting on how to avoid paying a single supplement by finding a companion- which is a different topic. Has nothing to do if Viking is worth the money. Apples and pasta, to steal an analogy.

    Not disagreeing, lol

  3. Carl's, lol, that's funny because I get the opposite, people get nasty at me because I didn't vote for either democratic or republican candidate. I like how you handled that rude person. My husband know not to talk politics with strangers because he would be leaving with a sore ankle, lol

  4. I was on My Viking Journey page this morning and I wanted to pay for the items in my shopping cart. This would be 3 optional shore excursions and the Silver drink package.

at checkout I got the message "could not process payment, extension no longer available or sold out".

anyone know what this means? I am 70 days out and booked the excursions at 87 days out. Everything shows confirmed on my calendar,

    thanks for any info.

It happened to me, you waited to long to pay for your optional tour , one of the tours was sold out. The only way to determine which tour was sold out is to go to the tour again and click on that tour, it will then say if it's closed out. Take your order off and go back to the cart. Having items in the cart doesn't guarantee you have saved yourself a spot on the tour. Good luck

  5. Sorry, but what does "all inclusive" have to do with the problem of a solo traveler. Most times those traveling alone have to pay a single supplement - which is what that post was about - not what was or was not included.

To address that, I certainly never thought of Viking as ALL inclusive - but a lot included. Big difference.

The topic is wheather viking is worth the money

Even at Sandals, an all inclusive resort, there are items that you must pay for. Items that are included in Viking. So in a sense it is all inclusive but certain amenities require a fee.

  7. Ronbe65, my issue with your analysis is that Viking should reconsider the Caribbean. I have gone on the large cruise ships to the Caribbean and I'm looking forward to our cruise in February 2018 because I don't like the crowded ships and I don't like having to be charged for everything extra, drinks at lunch and dinner, extra for the spa and extra for speciality restaurants. Yes the included tours and lunch and dinner are included in the price as well as getting a veranda in every cabin. For myself, I love the special treatment that I receive from Viking from the moment that I book, and yes, I know that others may not have had the same experience.

  8. We're on the Bergen to London cruise on June 3. What I like about Viking is that they are not charging for the speciality restaurants or spas. They have included tours, but we opted for the optional tours with our friends. Only one day we are taking an included tour in the morning. I love piano music and jazz nightclubs so I'm looking forward to this. They also have nightly shows, destination talks, and movies. They provide free sparkling wine, wine, beer and soft drinks at lunch and dinner but we opted for the silver spirit beverage package as my husband and friends enjoy evening cocktails and different wines. I injured my leg so I'm looking forward to the spa. The prices for massages seem to be about the same for high end resorts, that my husband will enjoy. As for air service, they don't give deductions when it's included, I know this because we are going on the South American/Caribbean cruise. If you don't want stop overs then book your own, if stop overs don't bother you then take biking and save some money. As for the quality of the meals and the nightlife and the included tours, I'll let others discuss this. I've been on large cruise ships and honestly, I don't like the crowds so I can't wait for our Viking cruise

  9. I'm sorry but I don't understand the need to go to Cuba, all tourist dollars go to corrupt government officials including that Castro low life. From above, it seems that they want American dollars but on their terms. I won't go until the Cuban people are freed . And I love the Cuban people that I have met

  10. Peregrina, Thanks for the explanation.

We are on the 2018 Transatlantic.

We paid $595. for airfare pp.

It is still too early to even look for flights for March/Arpil 2018.

We are using a TA and will talk to him in May about deviation fo going in a day early pre curise and staying 2 days later post cruise. Our TA did say our cheap air was from the Viking departure cities. Both MSP and PHX are departure cities for us.

So I am hopeful I can fly Delta from MSP, a short five minute drive to airport.

My friend will be flying from PHX.

Flights may be open, I booked to San Juan from JFK last month on delta

  11. Yes - everything is expensive in Iceland, but the quality and freshness of food impressed me. If you like unique atmosphere, you might enjoy one of our favorites:

We also enjoyed their sister restaurant: http://fiskmarkadurinn.is/english/

I will look up the other restaurants where we dined during our visit last July, and will reply again when I have more information for you.

    Thanks, will look them up

  12. Looks like they posted a bar menu from the river cruise division where the on board currency is euros. On the ocean ships, the on board currency is dollars.

Thanks, I saw that and was wondering how I would benefit, lol
