I thought about doing exactly that, but I am terrified that if I do that and Royal Caribbean isn't satisfied with that on boarding day, I will be denied boarding.
As long as you have the proper paperwork for the service dog you can get on the ship For the island Royal really does not care if anything they will deny the dog of getting off the ship at that port. Just make sure its on your invoice that you will be bring your service dog. I know they have changed alot because people were bringing emotional support dogs and that is no longer allowed your service dog has to do a task.

Is it necessary to do a vet visit within 48 hours of getting on the ship for a Bahamas cruise? That is the one bit of the paperwork I am not entirely sure I understand. Thanks so much!
For Bahamas You can also call 242-397-7450/1 for an update on the status of your permit
The proper protocol is to use facsimile using the number 1-242-325-3960 to be received by the permit section. 48 hours is from the time you leave home when sailing they make an exception

She is licensed in Florida. We will be embarking at port of Miami and returning to the same port. We have cruised 30 times before and have been to all the islands at some time so now we just want to cruise and enjoy the ship. We do not want to take the dog off the ship. Hope this helps.

I just got back from my cruise. I totally screwed up that email address, so sorry.

Once you get hold of someone, it goes quickly. I waited 3 weeks, then started doing my follow ups. Once I reached her, it took a day.

I didn't send money. I was told service dogs don't have to pay the fee, I was willing to but didn't need to. I faxed the import form with a cover letter to the Director of Agriculture to 1-242-325-3960 and emailed it to Deandra Delancey at deanradelancy@bahamas.gove.bs. Then I followed up with her about a week later at 1-242-397-7450. She is extremely nice. She is the top veterinarian there.

Hello Linda the email is incorrect I don't think gove is right. I think it is just gov. Can you please verify for me please

Hopefully, this is my last question before my first cruise with Halo in a week.
The Bahamas does not require the Aphis. It does not appear Carnival requires it. Do I get one just in case? Or just have the vaccination records, the permit to import from the Bahamas and the health certificate (that I am getting Saturday, we leave Sunday)?
Linda and Halo
I sent in my money for the import permit to Bahamas back in February and have not received anything and they are not answering me my emails What did you do to get it?

I will be traveling to panama Canal with my service dog and I can't get answers from anyone. Do you know what paper work I need to disembark in Panama?
Welcome, it sounds like you had a great time with "Gabby" onboard RCCL. That darn potty box can or can not be an issue with our dogs. We ALL strongly suggest that if you plan on continuing cruising with your dog that you do some "potty-box" training at home. I have my dog use a "box" on my patio, at home and a "box" in underground garage at work,I have had two Service Dogs since 2002 and my first dog completed 15 cruises to Panama, Hawaii, Brazil, Mexico, Alaska, Canada and she flew to; Paris, Switzerland and we drove to Italy and Germany. My second dog will be on 10 cruises this December and just finished a 19 day cruise through the Panama Canal.
There are lots of other folks who have traveled far and wide with their Service Dogs, as well. And will answer all your good questions.
Most of my travels included the Aphis 7001 Form [filled out by your Vet.]; on this form will be all the information about the dogs health and well being to travel, including all current immunizations as well as the use of HeartGuard and flea & tick abatement supplement; the serial number of your dogs microchip and any rabies titer testing [if requested.]
Some countries may ask for special forms to be faxed to them in advance of your arrival and some immigration officials may ask to see all your dogs paperwork [and they may want to keep a copy, I ALWAYS make a few extra copies, just to give away], and, some may want to examine your dog and others could care less. Some may want to meet with you very early in the morning of your arrival to their country or island and some may not. Some may even ask for money to be able to take your dog into their country. I have NEVER given money to any official yet, and I've been traveling with my SD's since 2002. I just tell them that I don't have any cash.
I always suggest that you remain calm and assertive. The ship is being hassled by their officials and will NOT allow any passengers to leave the ship until all papers are checked and cleared by them!
I plan on cruising with my dog to Hawaii in December and NO ONE HAS STRICTER GUIDELINES AND DEMANDS THAN THEY DO FOR ENTERING WITH A DOG, EVEN BY CRUISE SHIP.

What do you mean, Had to go down for all mexican ports?
-
my husband had an issue at Walmart because his service dog is a chihuahua and carries her in his walker basket. The lady working at Walmart stopped him and said you are not allowed to have pets in the store. My husband showed her the badge and told her she was a service dog and the lady turned around stated, Service dog walk and another one asked if she was a seeing eye dog. I really feel sorry for these people. I can't help but laugh now.
-
Chris where have you gone with your dog. This is our first cruise with our service dog and we are just going to mexico because I did not know what to do to bring to other islands

What are their requirements in Belize?

Anyone know where I can get a health certificate in Fort Lauderdale? I am from Canada and the problem is by the time we get to Mexico they request a health certificate within 10 days and by the time we do the 2nd half the certificate will have expired
-
Hello Dianne, my husband and I are traveling with a service dog also. Our first trip with her. We are only going to Mexico what paper work did you need for Mexico?
-
I am going to be travelling on NCL and if you don't take your service dog off the ship do you still need all the Import permits for all ports?
-
I can't seem to find anything but what I want to know is that do you need all the permits for each port even if you don't get off the ship?
-
What paper work do we need for the service dog?
We travel with a service dog..she is going to be on her 6th cruise in September and 7th in November.....We've learned a lot and have some suggestions for you....-
Don't be hesitant to do it.....it's wonderful! And truly has made our cruising so much more fun!!!!!! :p

We've cruised on Celebrity/NCL/Princess/Carnival and HAL.
-
The Best (most accomodating-all around) - HAL
-
The Best set-up (potty-box) - NCL/Princess
-
The Best crew for dog friendliness HAL/Princess
- Passenger friendliness...every ship we've ever been on. We only 1 passenger in all of our cruises who absolutely refused to eat in the Buffet area, with a dog!
If you have any questions about the ship requirements/easy way to deal with "special needs" departments/cabins/dining area/potty box/food/exercise/hotel/excursions/airplanes, etc. Ask away......
I don't want to bore you with all the details...so, I'll let you lead the way! ;)

Going to Bahamas is not that hard once you have all the info and paper work. I am from Canada and I left Canada Jan.29 to go to Florida my vet signed the papers Jan.23 and arrived in Bahamas Feb.11th. There was no problem getting off the ship.
