  1. One of my pewters downloads the picture from Discovery Princess's webcam as it's updated and come Sunday I assemble them into a time lapse movie. (Please don't ask why.) I also frequently check the website. So I go to the website around 06:45 PDT and I don't see the Magnolia Bridge. Checking the folder that holds the week's downloads and start going back. I can see dawn breaking between 06:00 and 07:00 PDT so the site is being updated correctly. Going further back, I can see her docking at 02:00 PDT. As of 07:24 PDT when I'm writing this she's still there. Now I've never been to either Seattle, Victoria or Vancouver but what I'm seeing is consistent with the ship being in Vancouver. Am I crazy? (Other than the fact that I obsessively collect time lapses of future cruises?)
  2. I had the same question/concern and some wonderful members provided this response.
  3. Carnival, like AMC and several other companies is a "zombie" meaning it's taken on so much debt to survive the pandemic that almost all its earning are going to service the debt (at increasing interest rates) leaving nothing for investing in the future and and even less to returning something to the shareholders in the form of dividends or stock buybacks which is why one would invest in the first place. In the scheme of things, hiccups in operations are hardly being noticed by institutional investors. At least Carnival has some assets to use to raise money: all those ships. (As opposed to AMC whose only assets are the trademark and the popcorn machines. And that advertisement with Nicole Kidman that they run before movies. It's gotta be worth something?) Meanwhile, if you're a frequent cruiser and you buy the minimum at the right price, the shareholder benefit might actually constitute a minimally adequate "dividend".
  4. I had similar questions regarding a very similar cabin on that class of ships and some very wonderful members posted some very helpful responses at
  5. Thank you so much peoples for your responses. You put my mind at ease.
  6. After looking at the deck plan, checking every image I could find and freeze-framing videos I fell in love with one of those forward facing balcony cabins located right above the bridge. I mean what is there not to love: a view to both sides and forward, extended balcony, love seat and, whaddaknow, it's even a few bucks cheaper than the standard balcony cabins just a few feet aft with their view of only one side. Ya gotta love it, no? My heart has been all aflutter every time I think about it.... ...until I received the Deposit Confirmation e-mail and saw the dreaded words: "Part Obstructed View. Non-Glass Balc Rail/ Balcony Access When In Port Only." I guess this makes sense since at 20 knots the wind could slam the door with very dangerous force. But my question is regarding cruising through the Endicott Arm: I assume they slow down and even come to a stop near the glacier. Do they keep them closed then too?
