  1. I typically don’t recommend staying right at LAX…the area is pure industrial/desolate…All warehouse/distribution and large parking lots with a few office buildings and a string of ordinary airport hotels. Yes, you can jump on public buses to go to places like Manhattan Beach—but it’s not all that convenient. Or you can take an Uber or taxi and head to Marina Del Rey or Venice…but…

So, about the one time it makes sense to me is for a ONE NIGHT stay if you have a VERY EARLY flight in the morning…

For a multiple night stay, even if you grab a full day tour one day, you are still going to feel stranded in an undesirable area for a lot of your time…

Depending on HOW early your flight is, a good alternative would be to stay in the Marina Del Rey area. It is about a 4-5 mile trip from LAX—a simple drive down Lincoln Boulevard. And the area is a great deal more pleasant and with a lot of restaurant choices and nice walks. From most of the hotels on this list, it is a short walk to the beach and the Venice Boardwalk (highly recommended). And I also highly recommend the C&O Trattoria for dinner:

You may not get a FREE shuttle to LAX…but it’s a cheap Uber ride from there…and the trip won’t take more than ten minutes or so…barring traffic circling LAX itself—which you will encounter even with the LAX area hotels, so always plan for a little extra time. Most major tour companies will pick up from any of the hotels in Marina Del Rey for an LA tour…So, that’s easy enough…Even the HOHO bus Green loop stops at or near most of these hotels:

Here’s a list…starting with ones that MAY include an LAX shuttle (but ALWAYS call and verify with the hotel beforehand. Worst case is you take an Uber.)

    Foghorn Harbor Inn

Website says: The below list of amenities are all complimentary at the Foghorn Harbor Inn.

Airport transfers to and from LAX 24 hours (hotel call required)

The Doubletree Marina Del Rey (closest to LAX but farthest from Beach and Venice Boardwalk)

    Local Area Transportation

I don’t know if that “local area” includes LAX—which is 4 miles from the hotel, but I would call and ask.

    Inn at Venice Beach

These hotels would put you in a great location for tourists...walking distance from lots of great sights (Venice Boardwalk is a must--especially in good weather). Lots of restaurants, beautiful area...but also fairly close to LAX...

    Good luck...

Just make extra meat for dinner send leftovers with him

  3. Anyone have any "new ideas" for low carb desserts/sweet treats. My husband is a dessert/sweet fanatic but the doctor has recently told him he needs to try to go low carb/low sugar/Mediterranean/avoid sugars and flour, etc. So I need new ideas for "sweet treats".

I know this is old but take hwc add unsweetened cocoa and sweetener (equal, stevia) and whip in blender will be consistency on whipped cream

  4. Just thought I'd stop in and report how cruise went low carb. After 10 days on cruise and on road I was up 1 lb. but quickly lost that. I didn't find it hard eating low carb although breakfast and dinner didn't have much variety Could get boring fast. Dinner was easy and by end of cruise had trained waiter to not bring me stuff with carbs. All in all it was a success and even my doctor was impressed that I didn't gain

  5. This is my first time with faster to the fun and I'm sailing out April 27. On cruise documents it says boarding is 12:30 to 3:30. But under FTTF it says 11:00 to 12:00 I'd really like to check out of hotel and go straight to port. What time can I expect to be right
