So too bad...we had cfar coverage thru 'Travel Insured' for flights, New Zealand, Tahiti, Hawaii, etc..when Princess stopped sailing (March 2020) I had correspondence with TI.....they actually suggested that I apply for a refund as the policy had not yet gone into effect...that is, we had not begun the trip according to the dates that we had designated when we bought the policy.  They never had any risk or liability.  We had the refund long before the Princess refund arrived.

That was my experience with Allianz. I was outside (prior) the dates of the trip. I originally called regarding moving the insurance to a future cruise (which I had not yet booked) and he suggested I request a refund and provided me with the info to do that. I emailed a couple of supporting documents and in about three weeks the premium had been credited back to my credit card.

We just received (via email) our FCC for the Duchess "Mighty MIssissippi" which was to be happening right now. Will be booking next year.

Let me add from the email (edit not available)... The FCC is 125% of the original voyage fare. Valid on any 2020-2022 cruise although the credit expires on (must be redeemed before) December 31, 2021.

This was mentioned earlier: "Future Cruise Credit may be returned at any time for a refund of original payment amount".

I just learned a bit of concerning news. A friend from Pennsylvania just called to cancel his planned trip to GA as he would have to be quarantined for 14 days when he returns to PA. He can not afford that time off from work.  I looked up PA’s policy online and it does seem that those entering PA from several states (including GA) must quarantine for 14 days.

What does that do to those of us leaving from Pittsburg on the Duchess in Sept? We had planned to possibly spend a few days in PA before the cruise, but not 14 days in a hotel room somewhere!!

Also wondering if museums, historic homes, and other attractions on the HOHO bus tour will even be open. Closed restaurants are not a problem for us as we prefer to eat onboard.

Was in a similar discussion about Chicago. Your "few days" in PA would be quarantine. Don't think they would mind if you left before the 14 days have elapsed. I'd stay up-to-date with Pennsylvania website regarding their policy.

  4. We were booked on the, now cancelled, American Duchess/Mighty Mississippi cruise which would have been happening right now. I didn't hear that we had to get the credit first to get a refund. I was told that if I took the 125% FCC (which is what we are doing), we could later request changing it to the 100% refund. We are dealing directly with AQSC.

Got our premium refund from Allianz a couple weeks ago (we dealt directly with them too).

    Be patient!

Re the last two postings, it does appear that the language in AQSC alerts has changed, dropping mention of 100% refund.  Wonder if this is oversight or intentional??

Let me clarify my post above ... my info regarding 100% and 125% was obtained in a conversation with an AQSC representative when I was discussing my cancelled cruise, NOT the online updates they have been posting.

I have read their statement. It looks like they are giving 125 percent FCC but do not mention a refund. Can they refuse to pay a full refund if they cancel? Would they reimburse changes in air tickets? Thanks!

It is my understanding that you can take either a 100% refund or a 125% FCC. It was also mentioned that if I initially took the FCC, I could change my mind and take the refund. Might check directly with AQSC on that.

I have called the cruise line several times and was told that it would be refunded to me. When I called to find our why the credit was not issued at the same time as my taxes and fees, I was told that it was not refundable. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I won't be buying it again!

I got a 100% premium refund from Allianz...see my post from two days ago above (#65).

  8. It appears that Allianz, at the current time, is providing some coverage related to Covid-19:

"However, until further notice, although not covered under most plans, we are currently accommodating claims for:

    1. Under Emergency Medical Care Benefit: Emergency medical care for a customer who becomes ill with COVID-19 while on their trip.
    2. Under Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption Benefits: Trip cancellation and trip interruption if a customer becomes ill with COVID-19 either before or during their trip.

"These accommodations are strictly applicable to COVID-19 and are only available for customers whose plan includes the applicable benefit.  All other terms, conditions, and exclusions of the plan apply as normal."

    Read the whole alert here:

    https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com/coverage-alerts/2019-novel-coronavirus.htm

  9. Something to consider. In speaking to my cruise line rep, she mentioned that since the "shut-down" they have been on a skeleton crew. They are scrambling to get furloughed employees back in place as business is restarting. People who don't normally handling billing, etc. are now having to deal with that!

  10. We were booked on a recently cancelled AQSC Mississippi River Cruise. I insured the cruise with Allianz (directly) more than a year ago.

I requested a cancellation and refund from Allianz when the cruise was cancelled. I provided Allianz the document showing the cancellation as well as AQSC's web page outlining cruise suspensions due to the Corona virus. In my request, I also stated I was expecting a full refund or FCC from AQSC and that no claim has been or will be made against the policy.

Just this morning, I received confirmation of cancellation and issuance of a (full) premium refund from Allianz. They didn't state in what form the refund would be (I paid with credit card).

We are booked on the Empress 9/20/20 for a Columbia/Snake River. The boat is listed as having 223 passengers and 84 crew. I see that CLIA has called for cruises to be delayed until 9/15. I wonder if this means the AQSC will pause until then. We paid in advance and have our air too. We have insurance and hope it will cover us if we have to cancel. We are in good health but are in our 70s. We do not want to go and are hoping they will cancel. Anyone have a good crystal ball?

I believe today's announcement applied more for ocean cruises than domestic river cruises. The last update from AQSC is June 17.

    I'd keep checking here...

We are scheduled to go from Redwing to New Orleans on August 1 on the Duchess. With all the new spikes in Covid 19 being reported makes me extremely nervous. Here in Las Vegas social distancing is a joke in the casinos and only 30% of the people are wearing masks. My travel agent told me if we cancel 30 days in advance we would get 75% refund, what a joke. I haven't seen any guidelines as to how American is going to protect the passengers not only on the boat but on excursions as well

We were booked on the Mighty Mississippi for June 22...cancelled by AQSC and we will be using the 125% FCC and booking a couple of cruises with them in 2021.

Health and Safety...here is there current info.

    Heard anything yet?

While speaking to an AQSC rep last week (non-related matter) I asked that question. The rep didn't know and it almost sounded like AQSC is still deciding how to deal with that possibility.
