  1. We are going in a few days early and they wouldn’t sell them a one but we will try to hitch a ride with them when we get there.
  2. I normally would do my own thing and hook up with the cruise but I’m taking my 82 year old mother so This is a better plan for us.
  3. 1) Anybody recently done land from Fairbanks pre cruise and found the HAL more knowledgeable than 6 weeks ago? Are they asking to see test results? 2) We are arriving at Fairbanks airport 9pm and need transportation to the Westmark. Will we find Uber or taxis readily available?
  4. Your welcome, I had been looking frantically for cancellation info for awhile when this finally popped up. Yes, I am still anxious but not sick to my stomach anxious. I am taking a family group that includes my 82 year old mother. We have been canceled and rebooked 3 times.
  5. While looking for information about cruise cancellations specifically for our triple Denali Southbound departing Aug 16th I found this. https://gohal.com/policies/
  6. Just an FYI, the Tanana clinic wants to charge for an office charge of $338 to do a Covid test.
  7. Well yes, the safest activity is to stay home but I want to cruise so I will take all measures within my power to keep the virus or any illness from interrupting my trip. I will also not rely on false protocol made to give passengers a false sense of security. So your conjecture is incorrect.
  8. I’m double boosted and will wear the N95 mask when not in my stateroom. I’ve isolated for months at a time to protect my mother and I have a very old microbiology degree. The Covid Virus is all over that ship. An unlucky few will test positive and be ejected but many more are carrying the virus and will test negative. The most effective way to avoid becoming Ill (having symptoms that affect your activities of daily living) is to be fully vaccinated and wear the aN95 mask. Taking the test is a crap shoot.
  9. It’s not the testing that mitigates, it’s the quarantine after a positive test that mitigates. But I’m ready to be done with testing as long as full vaccinations are still required.
  10. The requirement was added about June 18th on HAL.
  11. We are staying at the Westmark but could take a cab. I’ll check the Safeway.
  12. As of now yes we need a negative test before land tour. Thanks
  13. I’ve been away from home so have been confused by updates. We are flying to Fairbanks Aug 13th. 3 days prior to our Denali land tour start on Aug 16th taking my 85 year old Mother. I really don’t want to mess with the telehealth testing, has anyone used a Fairbanks brick and mortar testing source that was accepted by Holland America?
  14. I’ve been away from home so have been confused by updates. We are flying to Fairbanks Aug 13th. 3 days prior to our Denali land tour start on Aug 16th. Then we cruise on the N Amsterdam Aug 21, flying home from Vancouver. Do we still need 3 tests for this. Pre land, pre cruise and pre flight. Are there any good land options in Fairbanks for testing? thank you!
  15. Departing Aug 13th for Fairbanks, land tour starts Aug 16th and cruise starts Aug 22nd on the N. Amsterdam. Are we still required to test within 3 days of the land tour and then again 3 days prior to the cruise. I keep thinking our trip is going to be cancelled again for the 3rd time so haven’t been taking it seriously but I guess it’s time to start.
  16. Can you just rebook another cruise for the dates you want essentially extending the expiration date?
  17. You did not come off whiny. Thank you for sharing your experience.
  18. I’m thinking I’ll use mine for daily laundry service. Coming off 7 days land pre cruise it would be a pleasure to not have stinky bags and be able to pack less.
  19. It sounds like you were very unhappy with your travel experience some of it the cruise lines fault some not. Regardless of fault I’m sorry you had a bad time. Travel is a crap shoot and we’re lucky most of the time everything comes together for a great time but once in awhile the travel Gods are against you. Right now odds are in favor of a less than perfect experience due to short staff and Covid recovery.
  20. It’s been awhile since I had to know how to pack for Alaska. I’ve looked for this in the posts and didn’t find it(though I am sure it’s here somewhere). When packing for the SB Alaska cruise tour I think we need to: Bag 1. Goes straight to ship from Fairbanks. Bag 2. In the am goes to our overnight accommodations. Bag 3. We carry with what we need for the day to keep warm, keep cool, snacks, etc and must fit under seat on train or bus. Does this sound right still?
  21. I try to wear the KN95 masks to protect me. And it protects others. But if I don’t have a KN95 mask or K95 masks available I’ll wear the surgical masks to protect others.
