  1. You guys answered my question, thanks!! I was wondering if the social media package allowed pictures to be posted to Facebook. But I have another question. Social Media package allows use of iMessage on iPhones? Thanks a bunch!!

Yes! My whole family has iPhones so I could just text them at home like normal.

  2. You may have to ask him to put the bunk up in the day so that you can sit on the sofa. Our steward recently left the bunk down and the sofa made as a bed for the entire cruise. A child napped up there occasionally so it worked out okay.

  3. Just wondering what the other cc people think and do ?? We are a couple getting ready to put final payment in a week or so and have not purchased insurance yet. We are both 50 in good health and our families as of now are good too.Do you spend the extra ?? Our cost is about $5000 each for a 13 day and I believe the basic is about $700 for the two of us .This will be our most expensive cruise so far and not sure what others do ?? Would love some input

You and your families are in good health but you and they aren't immune to accidents such as tripping and falling or being in a car accident. These are the things for which you should think about insurance. Browse this board for real stories of why people have used their insurance.

Check with an insurance provider other the cruise line. InsureMyTrip or TripInsuranceStore for other pricing.

  4. I would at that point demand to file a security report saying that I feel harassed and scared for my kids' and my safety.

I wonder if there was a source of noise in their cabin that sounded like it was coming from the direction of your cabin - but it was coming from somewhere else. Even the whiniest complainer wouldn't be able to hear anything from your cabin when you're not in it. If they were indeed hearing any kinds of sounds during the day while you were in port, it had to be coming from somewhere else.

This was my thought - that the neighbors had noise they only thought was from your cabin.

In our 4 cruises (not many in CC land), on 4 different ships, we've never heard noise from our neighbors or had complaints about us. And we spend a fair amount of time in our cabin.

I may know a line to avoid now. I despise nickel and diming. I'd rather pay more upfront and be done.

  5. Why not just bring these things with you...you can then decide if there needed or not...then return them if you don't open them. I think the hooks/shower curtain idea and pictures I saw of this creative option great.

I'm guessing since it's Alaska, they are flying and luggage space is tight.

  6. Does the video chat feature on FB Messenger work with the social plan? If not, does anyone know what my options are to be able to video chat with my kids (4 & 6) via FB Messenger video chat or Skype? Thanks!

The social plan didn't work for video. I read about spotty results for the top tier plan with video chatting.

  7. No reason to be condescending........

Please tell me who has excellent medical insurance that covers them everywhere they go on their trip?

So you are saying that this scenario can only happen on a trip?

This can and does happen anywhere, even at home.

Why not give some suggestions for insurance for passengers to purchase???

I don't think Hank was being condescending. He was also not saying the scenario could only happen on a trip.

People often don't consider whether their health insurance covers them outside of the home country and think of travel insurance as needed only in the event they miss a plane or have to cancel. They are also fond of saying that they are young and healthy and don't need travel health insurance as if only old or previous sick people can have accidents or appendicitis.

  8. We found MDR food on DCL to be ho-hum. Not terrible but not very good either. We just cruised the CCL Breeze, and thought it was much better. Buffets were probably comparable. Pizza was better on CCL. We didn't do any specialty restaurants on CCL so we can't compare to Palo which was excellent.

  9. Even if you carry on at the airport, you can check anything except bags with drinks at the port, keeping in mind it will be handled like the above picture. There is no need to lug anything much around. I had a shoulder bag with the electronics and my husband had a backpack with his CPAP, and that's all we carried on. The luggage was all checked.

When we took liquor on, we had to wheel it around until our room opened.
