I think part of the problem is everyone on the boards make such a fuss about formal nights and makes a point to tell people to stay out of the dining room and suggest "alternatives" as an option. Giovanni's is an alternative restaurant and is usually considered a more casual venue. I agree a sleevless shirt might not be a great choice but it certainly wouldn't have made a difference to us.

I certainly hope they are checking these boards because while my experience has been really great it is going to do grave harm to have all these negatives. It is very true that the answers should be the same to the same question so I wonder where all the differences happen. Come on Royal get consistent across the board so everyone can say the same things I do. We know you can do it or we wouldn't be so "Loyal to Royal". It sounds like you are losing some of your loyals. Hopefully, those of you waiting for the callback will be getting it ASAP.

I have had the total opposite experience...great customer service both onboard and through land based servers. Really noticed a difference in the attitudes and pleasant, patient service. Sorry you are having trouble, but, please try calling back until you find the best fit for you. I have always find you get different answers from different people even when you ask the same question. Hope you find a great customer service rep and that everything works out!

No limes anywhere on our Oasis cruise April 12th but it didn't impact our fun!
-
Our recent Oasis cruise was far more casual than formal and we enjoyed it very much. We saw a majority of nicely dressed but certainly not "traditional formal wear" cruisers. Everyone was having a great time. Service was incredible and all diners around us were a joy no matter how they were dressed...clothes really DON'T make the "man".

We have also been lucky enough to avoid bad experience in the CL. We are Diamond plus and also book suites so can feel for both sides. However, every time we have been in the CL we have met incredible people and had so much fun. Yes, it got crowded but we squeezed in and made room and were blessed with lots of laughs for it. Always go in expecting to have a great time and it usually happens! I would not spend a second trying to figure out why someone was a jerk...they will always be one!

Our favorite is the pavlova! We were in a GS on Brilliance the first time we had it and the Maitre"D knew we loved them and sent them to our suite every night! Love them.
-
Thanks for taking so much time to feed our cruising addiction! We sail in April for the second time on Oasis and can't wait!
-
That was our point also. If you are both diamond plus it is a wasted perk for one of you unless as some have said they do allow you to book a second night. We have never asked but we are pretty new to diamond plus.
-
You are right I saw that on another thread! I liked the ideas of not having the books but didn't consider the down side. I guess there is always a down-side! Thanks for the heads up reminder.

We said that last cruise when my husband and I sailed together. We both get the coupon but can only use 1 because of the night. It seemed like a waste but we were able to give it to another couple in Chops that night which made us feel better.
-
So, could you use it 2 nights because there are 2 of you or did they let you use same coupon twice? Thanks for all the incredible replies. I was pretty sure it was diamond plus but wanted confirmation for my daughter and her husband who DON'T have a coupon and now I only have 1 cuz hubby has to stay home this trip!

Refresh my memory, is this available only in Diamond Plus booklet or is it in Diamond as well? Cruising with our girls who are diamond but my husband isn't cruising with us so I believe there will only be one certificate between us but not sure. Thanks for the help, as always, Deb

Just spoke to a vacation planner who acknowledged the problem with booking appts at the website. He was not aware that is had started before this morning though. He thinks it will be back up by tomorrow.

And, I don't consider myself a "victim" if I make the choice willingly. Everything is changing and, of course, you have the right to choose whether or not you want to continue to cruise. I think giving me the "choice" to decide what I want to spend my money on is one of the only ways for most of us to continue to cruise without being totally priced out of the market. I know when I fly I don't have much choice on what I am served in flight any more. I used to get a full meal and a whole can of coke instead of 6 peanuts and a tiny plastic glass served to me in a seat that is totally claustrophobic for me but the planes are still full. Things change, life goes on.

I like the option of eating where I want. So, the extra price doesn't bother us really. We just did a land vacay and the cost of food ON TOP of the cost of the room is still far more than we pay for our cruise and we never cruise without at least a balcony. If I can sail in a balcony cabin for $100 pp per day, I don't think it is outrageous to pay a little more for food. I think the value of a cruise is still really great compared to other options out there. JMHO

If you use the BOGO for a restaurant on the first night of your cruise (specifically Oasis) are you able to also purchase the Central Park Dining Deal once onboard?
-
I KNEW I would find a cruise critic buddy with the answer. Thanks so much! Hope the Royal website comes up soon. Deb

Ok, I can't do a search and want to know if anyone has info on whether this cabin is bed by closet or balcony. Can someone help? We just booked last minute yesterday and are so excited. Tried checking Royal Caribbean website but parts of its search function are down as well. Thanks, Cruise Critic Family, for being here when all others fail. Deb

The solarium pool really is more like a walk thru water feature. You could not swim mostly stand under the water sprays.

It is great to hear about the smart casual in Blu. I was reading some heated discussions on other threads about people being pulled aside and made to wear a bored jacket. DH has lots of jackets but we prefer not to have to carry them onboard any more. Blu sounds perfect for us. thanks again for the information.

We love Royal but not so much the Oasis class, I agree with the feeling that there is not enough of an at sea type feel when onboard. Always running thru one "neighborhood" or another and never really relaxing. We enjoy them for what they are but would not say they are the "hands down" winner of the seas.
-
We were able to get the beverage package as a "perk" for booking on Celebrity and from the boards over there both people in the cabin do NOT have to buy the package. We got it for nothing so hubby(who doesn't drink alcohol any more) can use it for everything but alcohol which is really nice. We would never consider the package with royal because of that rule. It really is a shame because my husband is an alcoholic but hasn't had a drink in 40 years would hate to see him start just so I can buy the package! LOL

I don't mind the tendering process but I don't really like the lifeboats...I know they could save my life one day but they are a little claustrophobic for me. We would probably stay onboard. And, we are diamond plus with Royal and have yet to have to use a lifeboat for tendering, guess we got lucky! Thanks for the help, truly appreciate your knowledge. Deb

Bobal, I did read that but I also hear the same complaint from cruisers here in the states. You talk to one rep and get one answer and talk to another and get another answer. I think you should be confident that the answers will be the same no matter to whom you speak. As I said, our experiences lately have been exceptionally good and I HOPE they will make sure that EVERYONE can say the same very soon. I hate reading that people are jumping to other lines because they feel they are not being served efficiently. I know they can do it because they have done it for me and I certainly hope it is not only because we are Diamond Plus!
