  1. Cruised on the Anthem 18 April 2016 for 12 nights to the Southern Caribbean an enjoyed the cruise immensely.

What stood out for me was the technology (from check-in to the on-board experience). There is an abundance of technology at work, such as, the Robotic screens in two70, Bionic Bar, RFID cards/wrist bands, conveniently located Royal IQ i-pad kiosks, Royal App, X-box, and Voom (no problem streaming the Warriors playoff game on ABC – woohoo!). Realize with technology comes “reboot”…logout/login…and a few frustrated users not comfortable with using technology. Virtual and 3D art abound on the ship. A few pieces of the art are interactive. It was great being in a technology laden 21st century cruise ship.

May favorite thing was having two bathrooms in our Jr Suite.:-)

The furniture in the rooms and sitting areas is ultra-modern and chic, kind of like art. (Warning: Furniture is low to ground and requires leg and core strength to get out of it. Hahahaha!)

Favorite Dining Options: Jamie's Italian, Michael's Genuine Pub, Chops and Coastal Kitchen and two70 (salads and roast beef sandwiches). I was impressed with the choices in the Windjammer.

  2. Hi Jim, thanks so much for a wonderfully prepared review with pics, narration and videos.

We were on the Anthem after your cruise, April 18-30th, and thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. After reading your review, I learned something new about the Anthem, “…the Solarium's secret little features: the viewing platform, directly above the bridge, with spectacular views.” I saw people above the bridge, but was not sure how to access it.

We enjoyed watching your cabin video, where you pointed out the neat features in the stateroom. We were in Cabin 9222 (JS). We loved the modern room with the quiet self-closing drawers, quiet closing balcony door, the USB ports, the plugs that allowed us both to charge our camera batteries at the same time and so much more. And, the biggest surprise, we had 1 and ½ bathrooms. Our stateroom configuration had the bed between the two closets (additional larger closet on opposite wall) and the couch near the balcony.

BTW…While we were on our cruise the workers repaired Gigi. They removed the red scarf, patched and re-painted the damaged area. She looks great!

Again, your review was excellent and I look forward to reading future ones.

  3. That's not the newest list. I wish search was working.

Use the google search query and "Precede your query with site: if you know you want your answer from within a specific site or type of site (.org, .edu)."

    Here is how I searched.

    C&A Offers Gold site:boards.cruisecritic.com

That's how I found the list I posted.

  4. Thanks for the replies, I was wondering if anyone knew the actual offers you get onboard on your seapass. I would like to book excursions and spa ahead of the cruise but don't want to pay upfront if there are offers for these things once onboard.

Here is a full list of onboard offers (subject to change) from 2014:

Credit link to Patti (cruisenfever) and many thanks!

  5. BVE stands for Bon Voyage Experience. It's offered at some US ports and cruises. The charge is $39 and you get to board the ship early, around 11am. When you board they take your boarding photo. Often there is a short tour of the ship. At 12 noon there is lunch in the MDR with a glass of wine included. After the lunch you're on your own to explore the ship until 3 pm when you disembark the ship. Remember to go to the photo station to get your photo. It's a fun way to see a ship plus you can get the $39 back as a credit on a future cruise. While onboard you can purchase additional FCC.

I'm doing an BVE in May with friends I'm traveling with in August to Alaska so we can all see the ship together.

    Any other questions please ask.

    Tom :)

Thanks so much for sharing this information. I have made a reservation for a BVE in April. I'm looking forward to the tour, lunch, photo and more importantly purchasing FCCs.:D

  6. #$@% I can download it but the phone says can't open file.GRRRR:(

    samsung Galaxy 4. HELP

    Alternative site: http://www.zedge.net/ringtone/1480879/

On my Samsung phone I clicked (or type) link in the browser. Download the file using the browser.

Go to folder "my files" (in Apps)-->Device Storage-->Download, and select the ringtone. On the pull down menu click "move". Move file to the Notifications folder (or Ringtone), also under device storage path.

Go to settings--->my device-->sound--->notifications and change to royal_caribbean_ding.

  7. Oasis and Allure have outlets near the bed.

Bob, I thought there were plugs near the bed on the Oasis too. We were on the Oasis in a Jr Suite in January, and pulled the end tables out and looked under the bed and could not find plugs. Where are they located?

@kontraxed We've requested an extension cord before, sometimes we get and sometimes not. So, we always carry one in the CPAP case.

  8. When we very "cleverly" forgot to get extra FCC we were able to book a BVE and go aboard for the afternoon. Since you are on the ship you can purchase FCC at that time. It made for a very enjoyable 4 hours or so onboard and we were able to purchase a couple of FCC each. The only down side was having to get off and watch the ship sail away without us.

    What does "BVE" mean?

    ~~TIA~~

  9. The TV will have an active HDMI port. On the Oasis, the one on the side of the TV did not work, so we used the HDMI port that the ship's video is connected to (active) to plug in our HDMI device. Allure ships will have the same type of TV.

For your Apple TV 3rd generation: Here are the instructions for connecting to the TV's HDMI port.

For configuring it, here are the instructions for using and IOS device (like your phone or ipad) to set it up.

    Easy Peasy!

  10. Actually' date=' there is plenty of info about dining on board Princess. Here's a good link to start with: http://www.princess.com/learn/onboard/food_dining/ (which Loonbeam gave in his post), but also look for the words "Dining Options and Hours" to get the link to an informative PDF.[/quote']

@Cruisin' Chick Thank-you for the link. It was very informative for a Princess Cruise newbie like myself. Can you tell me if at the Horizon Buffet, you get your food and then look for a table, or are you provided a table upon entering Horizon?
