  1. Is there still a charge for entrees, if you buy the dining package of three restaurants which include Izumi? I can't see just getting a free cover charge as much of a deal otherwise.

Yes, but the dining package includes $20 credit pp at Izumi's that is applied to the cover charge ($5 pp) and menu items ($, ala carte pricing) selected. The dining package saves on average ~20% across the Chef's Table, Chops and Izumi's total.

  2. We were on the Legend of the Seas November 2013 and Izumi was part of the Chef’s Table Dining Package we purchased. It was during dinner at Izumi’s (dinner was delicious btw) that I learned of the sushi making class happening the next day. The class was sooooo much fun, and not as easy as Chef Dexter made it look. We learned how to make and roll the different types of sushi, cut it, and present it. I would definitely do this class again.

Not only did we have dinner and I did the sushi making class, but I went back for lunch ($3 cover). I had the Tuna Tataki ($8), Dragon Eel($8) and a Kirin Lager($4.75). I had sushi leftovers for later.

  3. Ship – Legend of the Seas

    Deck - 8

    Stateroom # - 8556

    Stateroom Category – JS

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? Very noisy doing the day with chairs and tables being moved and carts rolling back and forth across the above deck, as the stateroom was located on the deck below the Solarium near the Park Café. The metal panels in the ceiling squeaked when the seas were a bit rough.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? No

Balcony View? 180 degree ocean view. Great for watching other ships and sea life (turtles, porpoises, jelly fish and manta rays)

Balcony Size? Balcony was normal for the size of the stateroom.

Was wind a problem? No and we had a couple of windy days (40 knots).

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? N/A

Any other comments? There was lots of storage for belongings in the room, as we had four suitcases. The suitcases did not fit under the bed, but there was plenty of room behind the chairs and in the closet to store the bags. The raised sink was small and it was difficult to wash hands due to the position of the faucet. It was easier to fill the sink with water first, then wash hands in the sink. The positive was the bathroom had a bath tub. But, there was limited head room with the dropped ceiling over the bath tub (about 6 feet total from bottom of tub to ceiling) for showering purposes. It was fine for me, but my 6’1 significant other had to slouch a bit. He still liked it better than the narrow shower in previous staterooms. On the days the sun was on our side of the ship, we had to pull the drapes closed to keep the cabin cool. Overall, the junior suite is a good size room, but if you want to snooze during the day or are a light sleeper, this cabin would be very noisy.
