  1. Hi,

I hope you have the answer to your question. My work place’s firewall blocks all posting to community discussion boards like CC, so I couldn’t respond from work to your question.

Actually, I have the Tapatalk app on my phone and I saw the message flashing this morning that there was a new comment to this thread when I was listening on a tax webinar online. I was tempted to reply from my phone but I knew couldn’t type fast enough on the phone to get a response out before all the smart folks at CC chime in. Sure enough, as I was counting 1 alligator, 2 alligator, 3 alligator… Bob responded with his lightening typing. I knew I couldn’t beat him.

Other people have chimed in as well with their correct answers but I just want to add couple points.

If you look all the way back at post 487 where I scanned the daily compass (yes, there’s a reason why I scanned these and why I always take a hard copy in my backpack off the ship so I know about food time back at the ship), under “daily planner”, they always list the opening/closing time for the various food venues. So you will see that the WJ close by 3 PM officially for lunch and reopens at 6 to 9 PM for dinner.

Having said that, go ALL THE WAY DOWN to bottom of that page under “snacks”, you will see that they bury the 3:30 to 4:30 pm afternoon snack time for WJ (who actually reads that far down on a daily compass while on vacation? Seriously - move it higher). I have never tried the snacks in WJ at that time so I cannot say what’s being offered but from Sherri’s post, it sounds like taco and other munchies you can have if you missed the regular lunch time slot.

Also under the “snacks”, you will see you can get food to eat at Café Promenade or Sorrento’s pizza or even room service in the afternoon for free. In theory you can also get Johnny Rockets for a late lunch as well as they are opened from 2 to midnight but that’s $7/pp so that excludes cheapo dad…

    Thank you!!

  2. It seems like folks are really starting to get into the MV rewards for this. But it's a wonderful way to save at least 1000 bucks on cruising.

    Sorry, MV?

  3. Great review!! My sister and I sail her in 28 days!!

Do you recall if there were shampoo/conditioner dispensers in the shower? That is the one and only thing that is causing us to check a bag and if they are in the showers then my problems solved. I know I can buy inflated priced stuff after landing but why if it's there.

    D

It's been a couple years but when I last sailed Freedom class the showers had a combo product in a dispenser in the shower that dried out our hair and skin. I'm not a product snob at all but I'd plan on hitting up the drug store. Also, in Florida you can grab your two bottles of wine there too.

  4. Grand Cayman has been the one and only port stop where my Dear Husband has agreed to come along on a guided RCI shopping excursion. I convinced him that that would be the easiest way to get to the first or second tender.

So we followed the shopping guide to the first Diamonds international shop right across the street from port (that was the minimum requirement for attending), collected the trinket and made a quick escape. It worked well for us since it was just the two of us.

    Miryam,

This seems like CC insider gold. Could you please specify how you did this for us newbies? We've reserved a cabana at Royal Palms and would like to get our money's worth.

    Thank you so much!

  5. Obviously I can't speak to the OP's experience, but I think we should all put ourselves in the shoes of these employees. Their job is difficult, as is any customer service position, they work long hours with little time off and are often away from their families. If I was told that my scoring of the food or something else over which they had little control affected their ratings, I'd give them that 5.

I can say that my experience with my waiters, assistant waiters and cabin stewards have all been positive, so perhaps I'm biased (and lucky!), but I bet if you or a loved one had a job or career that depended on surveys, I'd bet you'd feel differently about survey speeches.

(I also actively judge people on how they treat wait staff and other customer service employees. I find it's a good indication of ones character.)

  6. I forced my sister to wear a dress on first MDR night. She was miserable. When checking in there was a man in front of us in jeans and an older tshirt. My sis saw him and ran back to the room to change into shorts and a tshirt. The man (and another pair of sisters) in shorts and t-shirts were at our table all week. He was a veteran cruiser, extremely intelligent and funny and everyone, including the older women covered in jewelry, enjoyed his company.

I feel sorry for those negatively affected by what others wear to dinner. I was happy in my pretty dresses, they were happy in whatever. Namaste.

  7. Help!!! I'm cruising in a week for the 1st time on a RoyalCaribbean ship...(Freedom Of The Seas)...I wonder if anyone can tell me if there's enough mirrors in an inside stateroom (deck10) so that while getting ready we are able to see the back and/or side view of ourselves?? I know that's a strange question but a 'front view only' is a bummer while getting dressed up for formal nights and trying to put my hair into an 'up-do'! I hate to pack a hand mirror and then it's at risk of shattering in my suitcase.

Some ships I've been on have a mirror in the bathroom cabinet that we pull out and maneuver it so we can see side views of ourselves. Others have one flat mirror in the bathroom and another flat one in the main room. Not gonna cut it :(

I was on Liberty last week in an inside cabin on deck 6 and I could see the back and side of myself in the mirror. There was a mirror on the desk and a mirror on the wall behind it. I'm assuming all the inside staterooms on Freedom class are the same?

  8. I don't think I've seen this yet.

Sunscreen can take the lettering off of your seapass card (and deposit it on your skin!) I didn't think this would be a problem but I had to get a new card at guest services before leaving the ship for a port because they may not have let me back on.

I had my card on a lanyard and had to replace it twice (at no charge of course) during my five night trip.

Yes, I spent a lot of time on deck and am a big believer in sunscreen.

  9. So, if you don't NEED to be gluten free, please don't be. It makes it harder for the rest of us.

So let me see if I understand you. Because I am intolerant to gluten and eating products containing it give me GI issues on which I'd rather not elaborate, I am somehow harming celiacs? I understand what a difficult life it is to maintain. My daughter's close friend is celiac. I fed her in my home many times. I was insanely careful, and most of the gf products that are around today were not a short time ago. I know I am lucky that I don't have to worry about cross contamination or small amounts of gluten but I don't understand why this upsets you so.

I try to not even say the word gluten so I don't confuse the staff. I ask what is in things and make decisions on what I can have. I have educated myself to eat without making myself ill and without making restaurant staff make a huge fuss over me.

For those that are worried that we that that don't NEED to be gluten free are going to eat all your gf bread, pasta, pizza, etc, don't. I don't like fake food and happily go without. I am overall much healthier without all the while flour.

  10. Unless you have Celiac disease, there is NO BENEFICIAL reason for being on this diet.....as a matter of fact....there are more calories, fat....etc. ....in a Glutton free diet. This is the FAD of 2012 to present date that people think is beneficial...I am sooooo tired of hearing about it. ONLY 1% OF THE COUNTRY HAS CELIAC DISEASE. .

What a weird thing to get so mad about. Are you a doctor or nutritionist? Maybe some other medical professional? If not, settle down.
