1. Are you cruising to see new ports ???
2. Are you cruising to see the largest cruise ship ???
We have done the Oasis and Allure just to see the ship(s). We had been to all the ports before. The ship was the real destination...
Tomorrow we board the Navigator. Booked that because the embarkation/debarkation port was in Texas (wanted to visit sister) and we are going to a port not visited before (Roatan).

Thanks for the great review. Wife & I are embarking Sunday. Same itinerary. Hoping for warm, sunny days.

Wife & I were on the Allure in September, One deck below yours in cabin 11319, just a few cabins aft of yours. (Allure & Oasis boardwalk balcony staterooms are almost the same except for themes).
We thoroughly enjoyed our balcony. Had a great view of the boardwalk.

You pay the $12 per person per day gratuities (either prepaid with your reservation of $12 per person per day added to your on board account. These gratuities are totally separate from any drink package or drink package tip.

I don't buy the motion story. The reasoning I believe is that the wine list does not have to be updated when a vintage runs out giving the cruise line the ability to change vintages at anytime.
Vibration is another enemy of wine. As red wine ages, it is common for the wine to “throw sediment”, a natural aging process which physically separates solids, principally tannic acid, from the wine. For this reason, collectors will often try to introduce as little movement as possible into the aging equation, for fear of re-integrating sediments back into the wine.
On a larger scale, vibration introduces kinetic energy into the wine, which is the opposite of what you are seeking to achieve. A 2008 study has found that even low levels of constant vibration detrimentally alters the chemical composition of wine in as little as 18 months. In 2011, wine writer, researcher, and educator, Maria Lorraine Binchet summarized the 2008 study as follows:
“The organoleptic information is there, just cloaked in chemical terms. The effect of vibration on wine is that it kills flavors and aromas. From the abstract:
Decreased Tartaric Acid = the primary acid in grapes, responsible for the taste, feel and color of a wine. Decreased tartaric acid means the wine tastes and feels less like wine.
Decreased Succinic Acid = reacts with other molecules to form esters, the defining flavor components of wine. A big effect.
Decreased esters = decreased flavor.
Increased Refractive Index = the wine becomes sweeter [yet loses overall flavor].
Increased Propanol = decrease in aromas, increase in smell of cooked potatoes. "High concentrations of propanol are probably an indication of inferior wine [Fleet, 1993]."
Increased Isoamyl Alcohol = tendency to form acetone/acetates; smells of fusel, whiskey, banana popsicle. Indicates the wine has degraded.” ...

Read Your Entire Review.
I surely hope you sent a copy of it by letter to Royal Caribbean.

We print ours also. We also have plastic holders from Amazon.com that are designed for Royal Caribbean luggage tags. They aren't very expensive and work quite well. You need to make sure you order the correct ones as they are designed for various cruise lines.
Thanks for the note about the Holders on Amazon. Just ordered a package. No more stapling & taping...

Looks like one of the robberies happened early in 2013, I found another in 2012 and 2009.
These are really rare occurrences. You have a better chance of winning the mega lottery than being robbed on an excursion off a cruise ship.
DW & I have made over 80 stops in the Caribbean since 2006 and have never felt in danger of being robbed.
Just about every port you visit in the Caribbean relies on tourism (Cruise Ship Visits) for their economy.
The 2011-2012 Business Research and Economic Advisors report states that cruise passenger and crew spending contributed approximately $340 million to the USVI coffers and that there were approximately 6,350 jobs in the territory linked to the cruise industry.
There are some precautions you can take before going ashore. Do not carry the entire contents of your purse/wallet. Only take the minimum you need, a little cash for tips, souvenirs, etc. Maybe one credit card if you're going to purchase any big items. Leave the majority of your jewelry on the ship.
Hope some of that helps...

Wow - That sounds like so much fun. I've always wanted to do a new years cruise, but never booked on because of the price. Reading this makes me not care so much about the price!
Have a blast and save some stella for me! Tell Paul at the Oasis Pool Side bar I said, "See you Jan 9th!" If you can't remember my name just tell him that guy who drinks stella with a camera, he will know.
Stella's one of my favorites too. Will look for Paul at the Oasis Pool Side Bar.

Not really luggage related, but I was wondering.
When you go through TSA check point at the Airport and your wife has her married name on the airline ticket and maiden name on her passport will that cause any problems ?

Thanks for the Great Pics & Review.
The Bahama 3 and 4 day cruises out of Port Canaveral on board the Enchantment are our favorite getaways. A half days drive and we are there.
We really enjoy the Enchantment, for a seventeen year old ship that sails with up to 4,800 passengers each week, we think She's great... We are booked in October and December...
We've sailed the Sovereign 3 times, Monarch 11 times and Enchantment 7 times to the Bahamas out of Port Canaveral since 2007... We've visited Nassau 29 times and CoCo Cay 21 times.
I've got to mention the New Years Eve Cruise on Enchantment...
We did this cruise December 30, 2013, New Years Eve in CoCO Cay and New Years Day in Nassau... We have it booked again in 2014... We will be Celebrating New Years Eve in one week in Nassau....
The Enchantment knows how to Party on New Years Eve. Parties about the Ship for any taste, they had two combined bands in the Centrum doing Pop/Rock. They had a Latin band in Boleros, They had the Ship's Ochestra doing Big Band music in the Spotlight Lounge and a Pianist in the Schooner Bar. Every host/hostess started bringing out trays of complimentary Champaign about 11:45pm. There was a Buffet on the Pool Deck at 12:15am and if you were wondering what was happening in the Viking Crown Lounge, well, they started a Disco Party about 12:15AM (The First Party of 2014) that went, I'm Told, until 5AM... Reyno, the Concierge, had a party in his lounge too...
The Enchantment is just a FUN ship.

In 2005, the Enchantment of the Seas was overhauled. Part of overhaul included stretching the vessel by cutting it in two amidships and adding a 73-foot (22 m) long section. Enchantment of the Seas entered dry dock at Keppel Verolme shipyards in Rotterdam on 15 May 2005. The mid-body extension section was built at Aker Finnyards ahead of time, allowing the construction to be done in just over a month.
The ship resumed service on July 7, 2005, less than two months after entering dry dock. The new section included 151 new staterooms, outdoor trampoline bungees, suspension bridges, an expanded pool area, a 64-jet interactive fountain area for kids, and floor windows allowing an unobstructed view of the ocean below. During its time out of service, Enchantment of the Seas also received an overall renovation, which included paintings by Paul Critchley for the Windjammer cafe.
When the extension project was approved, an extension of Enchantment of the Seas 's sister ship, Grandeur of the Seas was also planned, with tentative plans to extend other ships in the Vision class (and possibly throughout the fleet). However, while the Enchantment of the Seas project was successful it proved to be prohibitively expensive, and all future extension projects have been cancelled. Instead, the Voyager class was extended on paper, and the Freedom class was created, using the shipyard capacity previously booked for the Vision class extensions.

Our First Cruise Ever was an Alaskan cruise on Vision of the Seas in July 2006 (RT from Seattle).
We have now completed 4 Alaska Cruises.
In addition to the Vision above we have sailed the Radiance South Bound in July 2009, Northbound in August 2011 and again Northbound in June 2013.
I'm sure we will do another soon.

I see it's been three years since your last cruise and points only last for about 3 years I think.
As other's have mentioned, you probably need to call someone at Visa or Crown & Anchor who might know.
That RC Visa is my only CCard. Use it for everything, pay off monthly. Get a lot of OBCs. It's about 1% for normal purchases and 2% for purchased through any of the Royal Family.
You might want to look at one of the current cards that give you a flat 1.5% cash back on every purchase.

Thought you might have meant any wine you picked up in port before boarding the cruise...

Really? Many fires ? :roll eyes: I would be interested in your source for this info. I acknowledge that even one fire is one too many, but, please, this is a little over the top. JMO.
25 Years In The Navy and every sailor knows your worst fear on a ship at sea is a fire. You can not get away, you can not call the fire department. You are the fire department.
Here is ONE TO MANY
Reported by NBC NEWS
March 23, 2006
MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica — A fire apparently started by a cigarette broke out aboard a giant cruise ship early Thursday as it sailed through the moonlit Caribbean, leaving one passenger dead, 11 people injured and at least 100 rooms scorched.
The Star Princess, carrying 2,690 passengers and 1,123 crew members, bore evidence of the nighttime drama as it pulled into Montego Bay’s port. About 85 exterior cabins were blackened from the fire, a stark contrast to the otherwise gleaming white exterior of the ship. Metal was twisted, evidence of the heat of the blaze.
“We consider ourselves very lucky,” Klemens Fass, of Toronto, Canada, told The Associated Press after he and his wife were evacuated with other some passengers. “When we got out of our stateroom ... there was someone lying in the hallway passed out. He was being attended to but it was very, very scary.”
A smoldering cigarette is suspected as the cause of the blaze, said Horace Peterkin, president of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, who toured the ship after it docked here.
Cruise LAW News in 2010 reported The cause of the fire was a cigarette being flicked over an upper balcony. Some of the Princess cruise ships are designed with the balconies of the lower cabins jutting out (photographs below).

The OP's question was: What's is a "non dcc".
Well, I might have got the DCC part.
-
I see you're from Australia. This is probably what that DCC is..
Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) or Cardholder Preferred Currency (CPC) is a financial service in which holders of credit cards, when making a payment in a foreign currency, have the cost of a transaction converted to their local currency at the point of sale. It allows customers to see the exact amount their card will be charged, expressed in their own home currency, but the exchange rate is generally less favorable than that offered through their credit card company. In addition, if the card issuer charges a fee for charges made outside of the card holder's home country, that fee will be added in addition to the DCC fee, despite the fact that the charge was made in the home currency.
Check it out at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_currency_conversion
