  1. The problem with Nassau is getting back onto the ship and having to get through the pawing and groping masses back through customs. Not worth the effort IMO.

We have visited Nassau 35 times since 2009.... Probably gone ashore half of those times... Sometime just a quick walk over to Sr. Frogs for a Margarita and Lunch...

Neither my wife or I have every been Pawed or Groped in Nassau. And they do not have a CUSTOMS check... Just port security that does a quick look at you seapass card and a photo id (drivers license).

  2. Just off carnival and had to claim out liquor bought either on the ship or in port on debarkation morning what is the procedure on celebrity. Can we carry. Bottle on to the ship. What about liquor purchased at the on board shops or in port

If you debarked in Galveston, just remember, Everything is different in Texas.

Texas liquor laws have limits and taxes on liquor brought into the state. They do not have enough manpower to stop everyone coming into Texas on the highways but they sure do have you trapped when you get off a ship in Texas.

There was probably another ship in port with you...

Last time I returned to Galveston, I used the services of a porter in the terminal, after going through US Customs we entered the Texas checkpoint, our porter had told us to just nod our heads no as speedily wheeled the luggage cart through the area.

  3. We did a 12 Night Holidays Cruise on the Serenade last year. December 23 to 4 January out of Fort Lauderdale...

We had a great time, Christmas in Labadee, New Years Eve in St. Johns and New Years Day in St. Maarten.

Lots of Christmas Decorations all over the ship... A super New Years Eve party with different types of entertainment in all the different lounges. Unlimited Champaigne starting about 11:45pm...

The New Years Eve Dinner in the MDR was terrific. Individual Menus. All your NYE Party Favors (it was also one of the formal nights)...

I have attached the Menu for New Years Eve

    Have a Great Time.

  11. Hi! Booked on the Radiance of the Seas for 05/17/2017 cruise to Alaska. Will arrive in Vancouver the night before embarkation. Any suggestions for a hotel would be appreciated. Wondering if staying at the airport makes more sense since we will be arriving in BC after 10pm. Ideas?

    Linda T

Sue & I are booked on that cruise too.

Visit the Cruise Critic Roll Call at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2220492

We have stayed at the Bestwestern's located downtown, then a short cab to the pier. This cruise we decided to splurge and we are staying at the Pan Pacific Vancouver (right above Canada Place) they deliver your luggage to the ship and all you need to do is take the elevator down to check-in.

  12. Hi just wondering which tablets people recommend

I saw a lot of blue & gray water in my 25+ years in the Navy. Fortunately I was/am not prone to motions sickness, in fact, a north atlantic storm on a small frigate was a lot of fun.

Motion sickness, sometimes referred to as sea sickness or car sickness, is a very common disturbance of the inner ear that is caused by repeated motion. Anyone can develop motion sickness, but people vary in their sensitivity to motion. Motion sickness most commonly affects children from 2 to 12 years old, pregnant women, and people who are prone to migraines. In addition to sea travel, motion sickness can develop from the movement of a car or from turbulence in an airplane.

While it may be impossible to prevent all cases of motion sickness, the following tips can help you prevent or lessen the severity of motion sickness:

Watch your consumption of foods, drinks, and alcohol before and during travel. Avoid excessive alcohol and foods or liquids that "do not agree with you" or make you feel unusually full. Heavy, spicy, or fat-rich foods may worsen motion sickness in some people.

Avoiding strong food odors may also help prevent nausea.

Try to choose a location where you will experience the least motion. On a ship, those in lower level cabins near the center of a ship generally experience less motion than passengers in higher or outer cabins.

Do not read while traveling if you are prone to motion sickness.

When traveling by boat, it can sometimes help to keep your gaze fixed on the horizon or on a fixed point.

Open a vent or source of fresh air if possible.

Isolate yourself from others who may be suffering from motion sickness. Hearing others talk about motion sickness or seeing others becoming ill can sometimes make you feel ill yourself.

The over-the-counter medication meclizine (Bonine, Antivert, Dramamine) can be a very effective preventive measure for short trips or for mild cases of motion sickness. Your doctor also may choose to prescribe medications for longer trips or if you repeatedly develop severe motion sickness. One example of a prescription medication is a patch containing scopolamine (Transderm-Scop) that often is effective in preventing motion sickness. Remember that scopolamine can cause drowsiness and has other side effects, and its use should be discussed with your physician prior to your trip.

Most prescription and OTC remedies need to be taken/applied before the ship gets underway.

Fortunately, Sue does not suffer side effects from scopolamine patches, we put one on before boarding and it usually lasts a 7 day cruise.

  13. Panama Canal weather is Hot year round resting at 9 degrees above the equator. The Winter (December to April) is supposed to be the driest of the seasons....

We did a SanDiego to Miami Panama Canal cruise in November of 2013. All ports of call had warm (Mexico) to hot (Panama) weather. We did not have any rain... A really nice cruise.

  14. I'm sure you will get a lot of replies.

I usually wear nice pants and a collared shirt on Smart Casual night and on formal nights I will include a tie on too...

When we cruise close to home (travel by car) we will bring sport coats.

I have rented a tux for special events on some cruises...

  15. Just received this email from RCL:

Hello, this is Royal Caribbean International. We would like to provide you with important information regarding your sailing on Friday, August 28, onboard Majesty of the Seas. The ship is scheduled to have important maintenance performed on its water system. Because the cruise terminal at the Port of Miami is very limited in space, boarding will take place between 4 p.m. to 6.p.m. We ask that you NOT arrive at the port for boarding before 4:00 p.m. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation and we look forward to welcoming you onboard.

Has anyone had delayed boarding before? How has it affected your trip?

Sorry for the Post... I was thinking 2016... not 2015.

  16. I am a native Floridian and have cruised most my life . My husband and I most recently went on the Allure to Jamaica and Cozumel. We have done the Carribean so much I thought it would be neat to go on the 9 day anthem cruise and explore New England. Overall is visiting Boston , Maine and Nova Scotia good on a cruise in late September ? Is it typically cold and rough seas ? There are only inside cabins available , is this a problem ? I haven't seen any reviews specific to the Anthem and this itinerary.

Overall it sounds like the anthem has poor service and it's hard to get a drink and a long line for everything. Is this the case in the longer New England cruise or is it mainly the Bermuda cruise with all the complaints. I have never been on a bad Royal Carribean cruise , is this one much different than the others ? Finally is this typically an itinerary for older people? My husband and I are in our 30's and like some fun and nightlife too.

We did a Short, 7 Night NE/CAN Cruise on Jewel October 8-15 of 2011 round trip from Boston... Visited Portland, ME; Bar Harbor, ME; Saint John, NB/CAN & Halifax, NS/CAN.

Most of our excursions/tours included Lobster...

Our weather was spectacular for October. Boston SAT 10/8 Sunny 80: Portland SUN 10/9 (Low 59) Sunny 80: Bar Harbor MON 10/10 Sunny 72: Saint John TUE 10/11 Mstly Sunny 64: Halifax THUR 10/13 MCloudy 63

It was an above average Fall in the Northeast for a couple of weeks...

We've done four Oasis class cruises but cannot comment on the Quantum Class...
