  1. Saying "should" doesn't help. If you look, as the OP did, there are no more interior QUADS for August 26, 2107. However, with the help of people on this thread, he has booked a quad oceanview.

Change Should to Might, Maybe, Possibly, Never. I was really wondering if they were trying to book this month as the Subject line might make you think or in the text where it was this month.

I did just one check for I believe the Adventure, Aug 26 2017 for 2 adults and 2 children and found a number of inside cabins on decks 9, 10 and 11, forward and aft...

The original post did not mention which Ship in August of 2017/2016...

  2. I'm looking at a cruise for August 26, 2017 and the travel agent is telling me all the inside cabins are already booked.

Your Subject 'Over 12 months away and no more rooms available?' and your Post are confusing.

If you are booking an August 26, 2016 cruise (only 21 days from now) there is a good possibility that cabins are fully booked...

If you are booking an August 26, 2017 cruise there should be interiors available.

  3. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good hotel somewhere near the Newark airport or the cruise port? I've searched some sites but it appears the choices are few and far between.

A Priceline search of Hotels near Newark Airport shows 106 Hotels in the Newark, Jersey City, Meadowlands area.

It also shows 121 Hotels if you search the Bayonne, NJ area...

Garmins Mapquest shows 50 places of lodging with 5 miles of the Newark Airport.

You could also check Trip Advisor...

  4. I took it down to CS yesterday evening and was given the usual management spill by the food and beverages manager. Why do these people feel that they can spin you the company line and you will just accept it. Do thy think we are stupid?

Please tell us what the Managment's Usual Spiel (spill) was as I've never had the Tainted Crystaline Water.

Hopefully it made no one sick..

  5. We did the Romantic Rhine on the inaugural mid-April and wrote a short review which is on this board, but if you have any specific questions that no one else can answer, I would be happy to answer. If I had to use one word to describe the trip the word would be "excellent" in every way.

    Cole

My previous post's been answered... Mid April... TKS..

  6. Our most recent was the inaugural on Imagery II and there was nothing that we could suggest to improve our experience. The staff was outstanding, food unbelievable (both taste and presentation) and no, men do not need to wear sports jackets for dinner, even on the special evenings. We saw one sports jacket and that was probably because there was a large group who had never sailed on a river cruise and it was a carryover impression from the big ship cruises. If you are considering Avalon, I wouldn't hesitate to tell you to do it. Cole

    Hello B. Cole,

I just started reading this Avalon thread. Sue & I are doing our first river cruise on Avalon Imagery II, December 10, Christmas Market, Amsterdam to Basel...

Noticed you were onboard for the inaugural cruise. We were wondering when that was...

    Thanks

    Dennis & Sue

  7. Let me begin by saying I usually cruise with 2 different cruise lines. We recently cruised on the Grandeur, and I was disappointed. I think it was because it was different than what I am used to. We ended up spending so much time in the casino, that we ended up with rather large dollars off a next cruise. We really had no plans to use them, but found out there was a cruise on the Majesty that we could get for free, prior to another cruise we had paid for. (We paid gratuities & port fees only).

    Thanks

You cruised the Grandeur and had some disappointment. It will be different than any other ship due to it's Class (If you sailed other class Royal Ships) and the Crew...

Spent to much time in the casino (not Royal's or Grandeur's Fault).. BUT, then you won or earned enough points/money to pay for a cruise on the Majesty..

I just wonder what your disappointment was.

OH, I've had burgers, onion ring and chocolate malts at Johnny Rockets on every cruise that I've been on with a Johnny Rockets. Their burgers, IMHO, are pretty good, I like mine med rare at home but realize ships have to cook their ground beef a bit more...

    Can't address your other questions...

I am sailing the Majesty in August and again in October. Sailed the Monarch a number of times until it retired.

  8. Hi, just wondered if anyone knows how early we can actually board the Enchantment next month. We live within an hour of the port, so we can go any time. Love to get the most out of day 1!

We're cruising on the Majesty next month. Our Guest Ticket Booklet says 'CHECK-IN BETWEEN: 10:30 AM - 3 PM' ....

You could probably go at 10AM, They won't start check-in until they are ready and you might have to have a seat until they open the ship...

  9. Howdy all!

I have gone on a few cruises with family but this fall/winter I am looking to cruise with some friends. Specifically it is a husband and wife and their three year old child.

So all together it would be three adults and one 3 year old.

Thoughts as to how this would all play out? Thanks!

You might not be really close friends after that cruise.

    Here's another suggestion...

Get two cabins... You and your female friend in one cabin and let Daddy have the 3 year old for the cruise... Sounds Happy To Me...

  10. We sailed the Monarch 11 times from January 2009 through and including the final Monarch cruise of 29 March 2013.

We got to know Seamus ...

In June of 2013 we sailed Radiance from Vancouver to Anchorage and spent a bit of time talking with Seamus again. He was enjoying the Radiance but did mention the weather was a lot different than Nassau and CoCo Cay...

A really nice person and great Maitre'd...

  11. Just off the Radiance and although we had a great cruise as far as weather, scenery, ports, and service in dining venues, I had several issues while on board the ship. Enough of them that I feel the need to write a letter about the problems I had.

I know I've seen the address on here to either email or write whoever it is that these things are addressed to, but I can't seem to find it at the moment. Does anyone have that info? Thanks in advance. :-)

    A Handwritten Letter to:

    Mr. Michael Bayley

    President and CEO

    Royal Caribbean International

    1050 Caribbean Way

    Miami, FL 33132-2096

is the best want to communicate the issues you want addressed.

Next would be a Typewritten Letter.

    Last would be an email...

  12. We arrive in Venice at 11.00am then get transfer to the cruise ship which leaves at 16.30. Does anyone know if we will have time to get to st marks square and back.

    Thanks

From your post it appears you are arriving the same day as departure...

First.... If your flight arrives from someplace outside of Italy, you will be going through Italian Customs... Next... About the quickest way from the airport to the cruise terminal is by taxi and that is a 25-30minute ride... From when your flight arrives to the terminal could take from an hour to more... I would be checking with celebrity for Airport to Terminal transfers (guarantees you get on the ship).

I am sure somewhere in your online checking or cruise confirmation there will be a statement concerning boarding times. Most cruises now required all passengers on board 90 minutes before departure, that would be 3PM for a 4:30 departure...

As I recall, St. Marks is about Half Way around Venice from the Cruise Terminal by water taxi...

I do not believe you have the time for a visit... I would be more worried about getting onboard...

    Just my humble opinion.

We cruised out of Venice in October of 2012... Arrived three days early for some sight seeing..

  13. Hi All,

My husband and I are trying to decide what is the better time of year to do an Alaskan cruise..... May or late August/early Sept, based on weather, wildlife sightings etc.

What are your thoughts? Thank you.

Sue & I have made 4 Alaska Cruises, A round trip from/to Seattle, 1 Southbound Anchorage/Seward to Vancouver and 2 Northbound Vancouver to Seward/Ahchorage.

Vision OTS 7 Nights July 2006

Radiance OTS 7 Nights July 2009

Radiance OTS 7 Nights August 2011

Radiance OTS 7 Nights June 2013

We have booked the First Radiance Alaska cruise for May of 2017, It's 9 nights and has additional ports of call in Sitka & Haines...

We loved them all.... Check the prices and you will see which are the favorites.

    Dennis & Sue

  14. Thanks!

Did you happn to have two other documents that answer frequent questions:

Boarding document with food venues for lunch on boarding day.

Week long entertainment schedule on one page.

The Day 1 Planner for Ft Lauderdale shows all the venues open for lunch....

Our entertainment schedule was on one of the pages.. (however, I did create this document on my own from one Oasis offered a couple years ago)

  15. Thank You

We are going on the same itinerary next week and this helps a ton

2 quick questions if you don't mind:

1)Did you see the prepaid 10 pack of drink vouchers on board and what day did you remember seeing them?

2)Did you have any trouble getting the reservations you wanted for wither shows or restaurants if you didn't prebook

    1. I did not see the Prepaid 10 Pack drink vouchers, but I was not looking as I had purchased a drink package.

    2. I had reserved all my shows six months out. The only show you might have any difficulty booking is the Adult Comedy Show. There are only about 250 seats in that show and only about 10 showings, so only about 50% of the cruisers will see it.

  16. Sue & I were on the OASIS for the 30 April - 7 May, 7 Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise visiting Nassau, Bahamas; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas USVI and Philipsburg, Sint Maarten (The Netherland's side of St. Martin)...

I scanned and made pdfs of all the Cruise Compasses, Daily Planners, Shopping Map/Guides, Senior Officers, Useful Information, Luggage Valet and Airline Check-in Application Form, Diamond Concierge Welcome Aboard, Diamond Plus Savings/Coupons, Letter of Information about Zika Virus and the As you Depart document.

I have put them all online and here is the link

  17. I'm debating if we should wait to book onboard too, or take advantage of the 30% off they are offering now and seeing if they will apply our D+ discount to that when we board.

    Any experience with this?

Can you tell me what the D+ discount was?

D+ Discount was $60 each (can not use both on one package)

Do not know if you can use the discount on pre-booked pacakges.

  18. I do not have time while cruising to steam, iron, press, roll, etc my clothes. Hang em up when I unpack and wear them when needed.

I hope it does not upset any other cruiser if they see a stray crease on my shirt or trousers, it does not upset my wife or me.

I have on occasion rented a Tux to look good on formal nights.

Your experience may off course differ. Just an Opinion and we know what they are worth.

    :):):)
