We are on Quantum from Singapore ☺️

Quantum Of the Seas in Singapore will follow the normal Sea, Sky and Star Class like the rest of the Quantum Class Ship sailing around the world, so there's no Silver or Gold VIP. I'm hoping Royal introduces the Key on Quantum but I highly doubt they are going to.

Solarium will be open to all, North Star, Bumper Cars, Ifly are all free. Food in the MDR will have a mix of Asian and Western Dishes. Passenger count will be mix between Asian and Western and from all parts of the world.

You will have to check the cruise planner if they do private runs on the North Star. If not then I think you will need to email Royal on this.

You might find Quantum sailings from Singapore somewhat more "enjoyable" then those sailings round trip from China.

Thank you so much for posting so much details about Quantum.  We are booked on a b2b over Christmas and really looking forward it.  Would you mind me asking, was the Silver and Gold VIP (similar to the Key) available on your Cruise Planner prior to departure and do you have anymore information on what it included?  Also, was there any information on private time on North Star or hiring the day beds in that area?  We are celebrating big birthdays and anniversary and I would like to surprise the other half with some extras.  This is only our 3rd cruise, the first 2 were in OS then GS - we will be in a JS this time so aware we won't have the same perks as a full suite but the VIP passes may help my husband get over the disappointment of the extras he really enjoyed.

Are you sailing on Quantum B2B from Singapore or Spectrum from Hong Kong? Because  Royal Caribbean runs Quantum in Singapore differently from Hong Kong and China.

  3. It is interesting that RCCL is not stating that it is dry dock for propulsion repairs. When it went into dry dock in 2017 RCCL said it was for, "maintenance on components of the ship's propulsion system." They have just said it is unscheduled maintenance this time. As others have said, it must be below the waterline though, if it required a dry dock.

Well if they had said it, people will be demanding to know what caused it and why it happened again.

  4. Hello,

We are not in a suite, but since most of the passengers spend time together in line at reception, we have spoken to a number of people who are in Suites. Two had the sewage issues and most have the air con issues. This is by far the worst cruise (and cruise line in my opinion) I have ever been on.

I would voice concerns with P&O now in the hopes that you can get some guarantees. When you are on board they will do nothing.

Now I'm starting to get worried. I booked the Pacific Dawn right next August after her drydock session on a 7 night to Darwin. Seems to me they can't seem to get it right after the dry-dock.

  5. I'm probably dreaming but this is what I hope to see from RCCL on-top of the current benefits

  6. A travel agent in Singapore said that the deployment of Quantum Of The Seas for the 2019-2020 season in Singapore was a trial only. It was to see if Singapore and the Southeast Asia market can provide a demand for the Quantum Class to home-port there every winter. If it works out, then Quantum Of The Seas will continue her dual home-port if not, she might go somewhere else.

If Quantum leaves, RCCL will definitely replace it with a smaller size ship, probably a Voyager Class or a Freedom Class.

  7. I did the same route on ovation 2 years ago when it launched and there was no work being done was fully completed

I have no doubt ship will be fully functional :)

Gutted michaels pub has gone :(

What Room did you book? If you book the suites then you will be able to get access into the Suite Neighborhood. If not IMHO, this ship is meant for Suite Customers only.

  8. Even if Royal Caribbean increases the tip to 30 USD per day or the percentage to 30%, the same people will still be happy and willing to pay the increased tips.

Just wondering what is your limit to the amount that RCCL is charging for the daily gratuities?

  9. Only one sailing showing so far, hopefully more will be loaded soon

Go to the Rooms Page and you will find the deckplans for some of the decks..

    Here's what I noticed

    Solarium is only for Suites

Observation Deck and Dining Room only for Suites

    Aft Balconies available

Sky Pad is on the Port side at the aft sticking out.

    Indoor Solarium is gone

Spa covers a part of the forwards section on the starboard side.

    Private Lifts for Suite Class

In conclusion, unless you are book in a suite, you are better off sticking to Quantum Class and leaving Spectrum alone

  10. Thank you for this very informative post, to all who contributed! We are also booked on the Oct 7, 2018 cruise leaving from China, it would be nice to meet the others on this forum (I guess we will stand out ;) ). We're first visiting Beijing for a few days, and will be on the ship until Singapore. I realized early on that this was going to be a different kind of cruise! During our trip to Hong-Kong we got introduced to the Chinese way of life already. We avoid Windjammer so it looks like we will avoid the scrum for food in there :halo:. One interesting fact I read here is that a lot of the bars are empty a lot of the time. Is everyone else in the Casino then?? Is it true that a lot of Chinese travellers only take the short cruise option? Does the population change somewhere mid-cruise then? Can't wait for October!

The cruise you are going ( Tianjin to Singapore) is classified as a re-positioning cruise hence the OP posts does not apply to you. Based on the majority of people onboard Rccl will cater to that market. On our Voyager HK-SIN, the majority were from Australia hence entertainment is catered towards them to list an example.

Chinese travelers will most likely go for the short cruise option mainly because of their career and them not wanting to take too much leave from work. I doubt the casino is big enough for majority of the guests on but it will be packed. Bars will be mostly empty because they don't fancy drinking.

Doubt you will see people disembarking mid cruise.

  11. It doesn’t look like anything has been released yet?

China Phase 1 has been released

Voyager to sail from Hong Kong to Vietnam, Philippines & Japan

Quantum to sail from Tianjin to Philippines & Japan including a special cruise to Japan & Russia

    ( Vladivostok)

  12. I honestly doubt they will have any market in the US and the repo cruise from Shanghai to USA or Australia to Shanghai will be mostly empty. But the interest will be there and it will have to depend on the reviews from the first few months to see whether the US/AU market will embrace it.

If Global Class works out in Asia, West Coast Of US, Australia, be prepared for Royal to send in their Oasis Class to challenge the market.

Dream & Star Cruises are a fan of 2 Night Cruises so the itineraries for Global Class will probably have them

West Coast USA itineraries will probably include LA, San Diego, San Francisco( Not sure if it can go under the Bridge) and a trip down to Mexico.

Australia & New Zealand. The Sounds are out of the picture and she will be too big for most of the ports in NZ & AU.

Asia. Possible, but if you look at the passengers numbers for a 5 night cruise. You will think they are thinking too far fetched.

Looking forward to seeing the itineraries for the Global Class.

  13. There has been a lot of activity for RCI and their model for China.

The notations in the Gibraltar, April 19th booking for Spectrum of the Seas would seem to indicate it is a fuel stop and may be traveling without passengers.

That will be a big disappointment if it happens. It will be like Norwegian Joy.

But I seriously doubt they won't as Quantum & Ovation did carried passengers all the way. However, seeing this as a brand new class and ship, they probably will want to iron out stuff before the ship gets to China.
