Judging by the picture it looks like bubbles for breakfast in the Terrace Cafe.

    Well done!

Actually that was yesterday afternoon. I’m 6 hours ahead of CST

I had earlier ( during the Pandemic) heard a report that the Nautica hadn’t been in U.S. waters for years. Interesting that the US Coast Guard would have jurisdiction as it isn’t a U.S. flagged vessel. Perhaps since it’s a U.S. flagged territory??

It’s because its coming to the US.

    Orv,

Trying to figure out which CDs are still with O.  Who is the CD on Nautica?

Steve Campbell, from UK, Leeds. I think I’ve seen him before but can’t remember when

  2. I’m currently on Nautica and the CD mentioned something I did not know on his morning TV talk. We’ve had US Coast Guard inspections and this was the reason we couldn’t embark a couple of days ago until 3pm. Being in Scotland this seems out of the ordinary and he said it was because Nautica has not  been to the US in 20 years or more. I don’t know if he is right or not but thought that was interesting.

So far have enjoyed the food and service. The previous cruise missed quite a few ports due to weather. We’ll see how this one shakes out.

While I don’t really plan on doing a day to day live from report I’ll probably post a few observations here. We are in Kirkwall Orkney Islands today and it is rainy and windy. I was just here about a year ago so I’ll probably make it a ship day.

  3. So, Nautica does have an evening pizza setup, I’ll try to have it in a day or two. Maybe tonight after the Captain’s party. I’ll be in great shape to judge it by then. So far I’ve had 2 meals in the Terrace and 1 in Waves. They’ve all been pretty good 👍. Strawberries, blackberries, mango and pineapple were all delicious this AM.

So it is clear that Oceania told both Nautica and Sirena that they would be at Leith for more than one year before the announced change to Rosyth (whether this was 2 or 6 months ago makes no difference). To then force the passengers on Sirena to cough up $40 each way is not good business practice. For those of you on Nautica who feel that Sirena should make your own plans (which of course we are doing) and not complain about it is very revealing.

If the roles would have been reversed I would have made plans accordingly and did my best to enjoy my vacation. Life’s too short to let little things eat you up. I’m just happy to be alive and be able to travel, physically and financially.

I would say the complaints are what's revealing. Hope things get better for you.

This is not the case. When we booked and up until 2 months ago, we were told we were in Leith. Please do not say that this is normal procedure as you are wrong.

All I know is that I’ve been booked on Nautica for 23 months and my invoice has always said Leith.  Probably the reason yours was changed is that it’s a port stop and not an embark or debark. But it is very common practice for cruise lines to port well over an hour from the cities they advertise where they stop. They have been doing it for years. In most instances it’s up to the passengers to determine how to get to the main city. I could give you a long list but I don’t see any reason to. Anyone with cruise experience knows this is the way it is.

Now if your itinerary advertised Leith as your port stop all along and changed it at the last minute I can see how you would be annoyed. But they also reserve that right. You have had a couple of months to make plans. Enjoy your cruise.

We have cruised with Oceania enough times to earn Silver in Oceania Club, but partly due to longer cruises. We didn't hobnob with the crew or CD. However I appreciate the work of the CD and it does feel different if you have a good one. But one thing that a CD did that was really useful to me (may have been Dotty) was during tendering to a port was annoucing that "now is a good time for independent travelers to go ashore" - due to a lull in shipboard excursions.

I’ve noticed most of them do that.

Which is why you ALWAYS look at both the tag before/as it is being put on your suitcase AND you look at the receipts you are given.  Does the claim check have your locator.  Does it match your destination.

You are 200% correct and it was a lesson learned and now always applied.

  8. We were in a PH on a cruise and not only was our butler able to get us an extra reservation he also was able to add some friends of ours that were in an inside cabin to the reservation.

But, there are no absolutes, many factors involved in any of these situations.

Only 2 are aft I think, they are on deck 11. Most of them are on deck 12 forward of the pool deck.

Actually, only 2 Oceania suites face aft. The rest of the Oceania suites face port or starboard.

Yes, I said that 19 hours ago.

  10. We leave in a couple of days on this flight and want to pick up a couple of bottles for the trip.

We are on Lufthansa and connect in FRA. If we get duty free in BOS is there a problem at either customs, immigration etc at FRA, especially if we have to go back through security again?

If there is a problem taking it through security will there be a Duty Free available to us in FRA to purchase liquor? Never made this type of connection with that much liquid before so don't have experience with it.

If not, Edinburgh has liquor stores, if push comes to shove we'll buy some there.

    Thanks for any insight.

but noise has been a huge issue (see for example Sir Gary Bembridge's long positive vlog right up till cabin noise being a non-starter for future booking) we bring travel noise machines and rarely heard neighbors but when we did yeooow, win for WS

I just always tell my wife to turn up the Eagles the neighbors are listening.

Aren't the Oceania Suites aft?  They are cheaper than the Vista Suites and may suit your needs....I have just never seen the allure of that silly tiny room with an additional tv in it....might have been useful when we had to travel with young children....

Only 2 are aft I think, they are on deck 11. Most of them are on deck 12 forward of the pool deck.

  13. Actually I just double checked my original invoices from the FCC that booked our last two cruises onboard generated and neither one of them show the OBC for booking onboard, but they do show my Oceania Club Level amenity. In both instances I've had to ask our TA to generate a new invoice that has the amenity for booking onboard added to it.

Perhaps it's not on the original one because you have the choice to take it on the cruise you're on or the future cruise you book.

The $100 credit that was applied to the cruise immediately was not your O Club SBC but rather the booking bonus that everyone gets when you made an on board booking.  You have the choice of either applying it to your cruise that you are currently sailing on or applying it to the new cruise that you just booked.

Your SBC for O Club should appear on your invoice but sometimes the computer system doesn’t catch the change.  A telephone call to O should solve the situation and for sure it should be applied correctly by the time you board.

If the OPs invoice says Oceania Club Bronze Shipboard Credit $100  then that is what it's for.

The onboard booking amount might easily be more than $100. On that line it clearly says what I posted below. This is from one of my invoices for an upcoming cruise. Just an FYI, on my invoice they both were applied immediately. Without seeing their invoice it's hard to say.
