  1. Andy,

I believe the statement by the Celebrity person regarding being able to pay only the difference for a drink over $8 (on Classic package) is an error. The first question was related to the Premium package and my guess is that was the question he/she answered. I think the 2nd question, which was directly behind the first, was either not seen, or ignored-which, of course, is unfortunate.

If*a Guest selects 123 Go with the beverage package, and the premium upgrade.... and then wishes to purchase a $14.00 beverage, would they be permitted to pay the difference ? If*a Guest*elects the standard beverage package, and wishes to purchase an alcoholic drink higher than $8.00, would they be allowed to pay the difference ?

Yes, we would allow the guest to pay the difference. As a matter of fact we are permitting this onboard now.

Anyone who has ever had the Classic package knows that you pay for the cost of the entire drink if it is over $8. I'm sure you'll get this clarified during your upcoming Connie adventure, but all the info being "bandied about" on this thread continues to confuse the issue.

    Have a great cruise!

My wife and I were discussing this today. There really would be no need to upgrade to the Premium package if it were true. Our main reasons to upgrade is for Glenlevit(about $9) and for the Molecular drinks ($12) But you would only have a couple each a day, it wouldn't add up to the 11.50 difference.

    Hi Gimletgal & Kaz,

Rest assured, it's at the top of my questions list. I will do whatever I can, to make sure we are all on the same page. I will try to report from the ship, or as soon as I have a definitive anwser.

    Thanks for your patience.

Enjoy your cruise and please get everything straightened out on Constellation before we board on the 4th. ;)

We enjoyed listening to the jazz music from time to time but found other bars we liked better (particularly Michaels and the Molecular Bar) so didn't spend too much time here. The bartender was pretty inept when it came to prepare mixed drinks!! Here are the bar menus for those interested:

I remember seeing her either on the Infinity or Millennium.

Nice easy quasi jazz, but not really my thing. I can see how a lot of people would like her though.

  3. Thanks for this info, I was just going to ask about the ability to upgrade the package to Premium. Wish I'd thought to put the reservation on hold - I think I was charged the full deposit, instead of 50%, although I don't actually know what a full deposit would be on a PC cruise... maybe it was 50%.

Anyone heard if you can get one of the beverage packages converted to a premium non-alcohol package?

I think the Panama Canal deposit is $450 per person, $900 for 2, that might have changed.

Some other posters have reported not being able to get a Non Alcoholic package instead of the Classic. I'm pretty sure that Celebrity has number crunched their reasons why on this. I would surmise partly because the markup on many of those items is not as profitable for them as alcohol. Also people can consume more of them.

  4. Has anyone seen the classic beverage package show up on their reservation? We upgraded on Jan 7 and here it is almost two weeks later and it still is not showing up on My Celebrity. At first I heard 10 days, but then it turned into "up to 6 weeks".....but we leave in 4!!!! I tried to call today to check on it, but they are closed, so I'll have to check tomorrow. :(

Have you noticed how many times Host Andy has mentioned they probably won't show up on your My Celebrity? He said it will show just on your invoice. Until people start reporting that they are showing online I'm going with his answer as he's more informed on this than most of us.

  5. Its $10 a day (classic pkg)PLUS the 15% gratuity, thus $11.50

I believe they are asking about the daily gratuity charge, not the cost of the upgrade from Classic to premium.

The daily gratuity charge will vary by the room category. I know mine for the CC level is $12 a day. The balcony rooms are $11.50. I'm not sure about the inside and oceanview. I do know the suites are a little higher due to the butler but not sure how much. It's all on the X website.

  6. I think this is a great deal by Celebrity!

To make a long story short, all 3 of my booked cruises have been changed to this promo, and we are definitely dollars ahead.

The one on Feb 4th we have a group of 8, we had all already bought the Premium Alcohol package but was able to cancel the package, will get refunded for it, got the promo Classic and then upgraded back to Premium. We all had to pay the prevailing rate but as a group will come out around $1200 ahead. All this for a cruise in 3 weeks.

My Feb 9th I just went with the Classic.

My May 31 which I switched from the Gift Card promo we're going to upgrade to the premium.

This is good PR for Celebrity also. Can't figure out why I bought those Open Passages now though, but I'm sure I'll use them somewhere.

  7. I am a bit confused. I am sailing this month and plan on booking my next sailing while on board to get the 2 category upgrade, OBC and the $100. deposit. On top of that, do we also get this new 1,2,3 promotion?

It's getting a bit confusing. Thanks.

No, it's either or. Do the math and look at your situation and decide what would work best for you.

  8. I can empathize with the folks that are always disappointed when there's a big price drop right after final payment when they've already booked. Compared to my $200 gift card match a Classic package for 2 would be about $500 better on our just booked 7 night Solstice trip.

Oh well, you buy your ticket and take your chance, I was happy with the deal I got.

Seems Celebrity is going all out to fill ships though.

  9. Hi, nope they do not have a passenger choir.

On our transatlantic on the Equinox the acapella group held choir rehearsal every day. The choir sang in the guest talent show.

What she said. This was a group of passengers. At least the one I was on Nov 26th.

  10. We got our cabin assignment for our Summit cruise. We are in 6010 forward. Way forward, but I think it will be OK. Already ordered new luggage tags, so I don't want to change it again. Unless they would upgrade us to something better. One can always hope for that, but never happened before.

    Thanks for your help.

    Gwen :)

Those deck 6 cabins tend to be a little different animal than most of the oceanview cabins. You might do a search on them. I was thinking about booking one last year but wound up getting one on deck 3.

  11. To be clear, the Prestige Package covers glasses of wine but not bottles of wine during dinner? The inclusion of bottles of wine during dinner would be a plus, even with a reasonable dollar cap. We usually have wine with dinner - usually some of the nicer selections to go with the great dinner menu!

On the plus side they were more than happy to open a fresh bottle of whatever wine by the glass you wanted. They do have some very good selections on the by the glass menu.

  12. Hi,:) If I am not mistaken I think all the M class ships have these

new cabins now. I believe they were added during the "Solsticization

    process".

Thanks for the reply, I didn't word the question quite right. What I meant was do all of the M Class ships now have these new rooms in that area and do they all have the larger windows than the standard OVs?

I know that not all the Solsticization was done the same on all the ships, I didn't know how that affected this area.

  13. The Oceanview cabins that were put in during the recent refurb on Deck 3 have huge windows. They are converted meeting rooms. Staterooms 3112 thru 3144 are excellent. Windows are huge. We stayed in one of them a couple of months ago. They are the best. Great location on the ship.

Wine-O, do you know if this is all of the ships that have had rooms added to this area or just the Summit?

  14. It's you're call, but EVERYHING is included in the Prestige Package except the Louis XIII cognac. :D

Just a disclaimer, at least the way it was explained to me, If it's on the bar menu it's included. Polo has quite a few single malts that are not on the regular bar menu that are not included in the package. The Louis XIII is on the regular bar menu, or at least was on Regatta in May.

  15. I don't know about the Cellar itself, but I know it wasn't accepted in the machines at all.

As far as me cheating. Yes I did cheat. I will admit it. Am I bragging, no, I'm just making a truthful statement about my experience and I can tell you that a lot of other people were doing as well. The whole discussion was whether or not purchasing the package was worth it. So I was just elaborating on my experience. To each their own. I dont think I was "stealing" from the cruise line. Frankly, most of the bartenders knew what I was doing and didnt give me a hassle about it. I had no issue using my own card if need be.

    Edited to add:

Cheating...Inst it cheating if you bought the drink package and cancelled it and then bought it again when it went on sale?? Thats "cheating and bragging" too.

Your comparison there is pretty fuzzy thinking.

  16. We are going on our first cruise in MANY years in November. We are trying to determine whether or not we should buy beverage packages. We drink very little and were thinking about bringing the allowable two bottles of wine onboard to drink on our veranda before dinner. We generally drink a lot of regular water all day long and are planning on bringing collapsible water bottles to use onboard and on excursions. We might want an occasional cocktail or specialty coffee, but I am thinking that we may want to "pay as we go" instead of buying a package. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Karen

I think you've answered your own question. You should simply drink the supplied drinks, tap water and pay for the occasional drink as you get it.
