  1. Robin, I still think Oceania is about the best bang for the dollar....all and all they are still very good as all the lines are facing the same issues. We don't go on the "r" size anymore as we like the added venues and newer ships. There are so many more newer ships on line on all the lines so we will be dipping in with other cruise lines but very carefully! Maybe Ritz Carlton next

Though it would NOT surprise me if they did this for cabin levels B-G. Something to make the Concierge levels and up seem a bit more special. Not unlike the limited access to the outside spa therapy pool area that seems rather unnecessary in light of the general overall equality of passengers in other public areas of the ship.

    I agree.....there should be a greater difference

  3. The difference between an B1 and A4 is about $200.00 pp....for that you have the conceirge which can help you with dinner reservations, tours and flight or hotel info.....you have the lounge for convience and what have you....and a slightly better selection on room choice.....it's like anything in life - do you need anything but air and food....it's not going to break the bank but if you can't afford it.....

I am considering a cruise on either of the above,  Love both ships.
I keep reading about and hearing from friends about  other cruise line service levels (including luxury cruises) and that cruise ships are understaffed due to a variety of issues.

I am wondering if recent cruisers on the Riviera or Marina can offer any insight.

    TIA

we haven't been on a full cruise since they returned ....the most about 80% capacity so there  has been no shortage of help whatsoever....maybe the big monster ships are suffering.

  5. That was we never left Horizons before 1am.....

The other really big factor are sea days....we had 11 on that cruise so there was plenty of drunkin/drinking nights...much more than if in port the next day.

On transatlantic last year on Riviera, every night there was live music and dancing in horizons after the show. Timing coincides with two for one happy hour, so I rarely missed it. Lots of dancing to great live music. Different music genres on different nights. Very talented musicians, lots of fun. Horizons often had a good turn out, with a full bar and many tables with passengers. Four or five entertainment staff, including the associate social director were dancing nonstop (it seemed). This made it really easy for anyone who so desired to also dance. Couples danced and solos danced. Great fun!

other than that, I agree that the nightlife is very sedate.

Hi Robin.....I have to laugh.....we had such a great time on that cruise....it depends on just a couple of guests and then many come out of there shell....Whenever lefts Horizons before 1am and had a blast everynight! We always have a great time in Horizons on the Riviera

and the Marina after 10pm....thats when all the old folks are put to bed!

but some people prefer to have it prepaid.  Why can't they live their lives their way???

because if you don't use it all you lose it....but to each is own....if you want to give me your money I'll hold it and pay for your stuff...your not getting a discount for prepaying unless you choose excursions and not everyone uses it all or they have to add more $ in at the shops to get rid of it. It only makes sense for O not for the passenger. I'm really surprised that you would post that response but I guess this is your life!

To each his own.  The OBC works very well for us.  We rarely do ship excursions, but occasionally do.  We use it for drinks, corkage fees, and spa treatments and gratuities. it works well for us.,  We do not yet have 10 cruises so we don’t always get free gratuities from our TA.

it really depends on how you use it. If you are just going to go shopping in the boutique at the end of the cruise to use it up, than it is not worth it.

    Terri

but your not gaining anything.......and you have to spend it on board....

  9. I know the

House Select PackageUnlimited Champagne, wine and beer with lunch and dinner $39.95 per guest, per day

and You can upgrade to the Prestige Select for $20 PP PD Unlimited premium spirits, Champagne, wine and beer wherever and whenever you wish
which equals $59.95 per guest, per day

But I would like to know what an individual drink would cost - say a Smirnoff martini verse a Belvedere Martini, or well scotch and a Johnny Walker Black??

I need help as I can't seem to get an answer out of the folks that handle shareholder OBC's. My question is the amount of credit for Riviera's grand voyage Monte Carlo to Miami. This cruise is also marketed at 2  separate voyages: Monte Carlo-Rome (10 nights) and Rome-Miami (16 nights). Seems to me my credit should be based on the 2 cruises or $100+$250=$350. Or is my OBC based on one cruise over 15 nights or $250?  A $100 difference. The first option seems much fairer; and eliminates gaming the booking process. I realize there is a small discount for a B2B; and a similar one for booking a grand voyage.

if the cruise is sold and booked (a Grand Voyage is normally B2B+) then its the total # of nights....if it is not sold and you have to book it as a  back to back you get a 5% discount plus separate amenities. The combination (Grand Voyages) are already discounted.

We are in a clear minority Susie.  That's fine.  My biggest disappointment is I have to wait until February to enjoy O's fine service, food and clientele.

You don't have to wait till Feb....and we all hope that the service and the food comes but at the same level or better pre-covid- but I think it may not.....and if the airlines is any indication on how clientele will act we are in for a whole new experience!

He gets the money and we get the shaft. So far he has cancelled 3 of my cruises, including the 2021 WC which had the best itin yet. Other lines are cruising Caribbean; why not O?

    Are you really serious...DS

Yes, but we're not talking about 8 months of cruises being cancelled. More like 3, with the exception of some of Insignia's that was cancelled in Feb. They were still some sailings at the first of March if I'm not mistaken, which could be.

eight months is close....many people will cancel there cruises before they have to pay additional monies. Cruises past October are being canceled by guests at this point  as this year is in question.

Yes you are right !! I have had to forfeit $800 from a deposit for another cruise  that was not till 2021  and the law in the U.K is that all monies must be repaid with in 14 days for a booked holiday that is cancelled.

I  see no reason why a multi billion dollar company  should try to withhold their loyal customers money for 3 months I saw FDR on T.V telling everyone that bookings were up 2021 , pity the interviewer did not ask why they are holding on to peoples money.

I cannot see any defense as seen on this board of people making excuses for a company of their stature .

     RANT OVER !!!

i think you problem is with the UK laws....in the US we don't have those problems

I would be skeptical on that 30,000 number. I don't think Oceania would have that many people booked on cruises that are being cancelled. I'd like to see the math on that. Now if we were talking all 3 of the cruise lines that might be different.

One thing I will agree with is that I think we have a few too many apologists here. I truly do believe that Oceania is intentionally delaying refunds. Although I've been a customer for years I find this practice hard to defend.

well 2 ship with approx 625 rooms, 3 ships with approx 325 rooms that would equal 2225 rooms....average length of a cruise 12 days - so in a a 8 month period there would be 20 cruises x 2225 rooms which would be over 45,000 refunds...cruise lines book out over 2 years so I wouldn't be too skeptical about those numbers

I was promised a full refund within 6 weeks after I cancelled 8 weeks ago for a September cruise.  As I had paid the full amount, the money involved is considerable.....no replies to emails

they are quoting up to 90 days due to backlog

Hi , I am new to this forum.

I've been cruising several times with MSC & Costa, booked Ponant for end of August 2020 (hope it will not be cancelled!).
I have an issue with Oceania, they cancelled the Mediterranean cruise on Riviera starting April, 19th 2020, and they let me no choice :  FCC of 100%, but they refuse to reimburse my credit Card or make a FCC of 125%, which is a general practice.
Is it legal ? Has anybody encountered the same issue ?
I'd like also to get the answers of people booked on the same ship, what is their status ?

    Thanks

the question is who canceled....did you or Oceania.....and they did not offer you 100% cash back or 125% FCC?
