not sure where you are getting this information, but American Airlines says bag check cut off time is 45 minutes prior to domestic flight or 60 minutes prior to international flight (departing Miami)

    https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/check-in-and-arrival.jsp

if you are not checking bags, as long as you make it to gate prior to door closing (10 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights)

    you are right

  2. checked baggage has to be there 2 hours before departure....carry on you can be there less than 1 hour....airports are empty and you can breeze right through! The only question is if you get held up disembarking for screening or customs.....under normal circumstances it's not possible to make that flight.

The temperature screening is a gigantic bit of theatrics! That's all. With an incubation period of at least 14 days and some experts have suggested possibly longer, and given that some infected individuals are asymptotic and pass along the virus to others (i.e., community spread), there is no way to keep this genie in the bottle! And especially impossible to do this on a cruise ship with everyone in such close quarters. And g*d-forbid this is a case aboard, then no ports will allow the ship to dock!  So here we go on an 18-day transatlantic crossing. It is scheduled to stop at multiple locations that already have coronavirus cases. This includes Brasil, and the Canary Islands. No specifics from O; only to say that they absolutely refuse to refund or to issue FCC. I'm over 65 and have compromised immune system so this might be my last cruise... on earth! For the entire time, we will be looking over our shoulder fearful that someone coughing or sneezing is a carrier and that we have caught it. Or on the port calls when we take the O land tours, fearful to mingle amongst all the other cruisers and locals. So tell me, how is that going to be enjoyable? It is not surprising that the cruise lines are prioritizing their profits over the health concerns of their customers since they operate with razor-thin margins. Fortunately, the airlines (at least United) which issued us a full refund when we cancelled our Polaris transatlantic flights and gave us a full credit for our flight to BA have a strong customer focus. So sad that I no longer have any faith, confidence or trust in O! Can't wait to see what lame position they adopt once WHO declares this thing a global pandemic. Only a matter of weeks as cases and deaths are escalating daily. Has anyone been successful in getting a refund or FCC from O? Looking for tactics and advise.

it is a rough call as we feel the same way......but if you are hesitant why not just stay home......it's only money....or like you said maybe you're last cruise....either go to enjoy or don't go.....

Congratulations on getting your tickets refunded.  I’m not expecting such a wonderful outcome with Singapore Airlines since we have never flown with them before and have zero clout.  People on a Singapore Airlines thread have said good luck to everyone in this position because their customer service is pretty bad in contrast to their great onboard experience.

So what’s happening to the Nautica after the passengers debark on March 4?  I don’t see an itinerary listed on Oceania’s website.

i had great experience with Singapore on multiple occasions....they are very good.

    Great info and many thanks.

After much persistence, and escalating to the 1K customer service, United relented and refunded both of my tickets to the original credit card.  They did not have to, but thankfully 36 years of being an MP+ member and my 3 million miles flown did have some loyalty benefit.

it's all about how you speak to them....

I know...  🙂  Should have used FF miles instead of a cheap business class fare.   Still have hope since all they have to do is make a change to the flight which grants automatic waiving of the change and refund. Will wait to the last minute to cancel as two can play the game of chicken  🙂

good luck.....as the news is changing so this just may not be the best time to travel overseas.

In the cancellation email they said they would reimburse/refund for $300 pp.

The original mail said OBC for $300pp.

I plan on asking for both, assuming I cannot get a refund from United.  But like you I am waiting to see if they do waivers of the fees as the virus hits more places.

I had booked Singapore airline on the direct flight from EWR to Sing in business class using miles and also on United direct from Tokyo to EWR again using miles in business class. Both airlines at first want to charge me cancelation/redeposit fees but after asking for exceptions because of the virus both waived the fees...you really shouldn't have any issues...just be polite and ask.

Again you like to rattle stuff without facts.

    1) FACT 1 -- All other cruise lines other than Oceania and Regents have cancelled this itinerary.   Crystal has not cancelled.  Symphony just left and is doing a Singapore to Singapore cruise..   Serenity is also schedule to port in Singapore.  Crystal did offer 100% FCC for those that did not want to go.  But they are still cruising with 200 happy cruisers.

    2) FACT 2 - Oceania does have a section on their web site.  So does Regent..  The links are at the bottom of their homepage.

    https://www.oceaniacruises.com/coronavirus-statement

I do agree with one item that Oceania should bend and provide an FCC for customers that feel uncomfortable going.  That just makes good business/customer relations sense.

Oceania hasn't updated that since the 12th and the fact is they are not offering a fcc .... What else can be said

I agree that this is not the cruise that was purchased previously I am a physician and think that this cruise is of significant risk to passengers, crew and the general public upon passengers return home. The risk is not only of infection but of signifiant infrastructure chaos related to potential for cancelled flights, further restrictions to those who have been in Singapore and risk of quarantine. All other cruise lines other than Oceania and Regents have cancelled this itinerary.

All of our flights to and from the ship have been cancelled due to cancellations of our flights through and out of Hong Kong. This is a major deviation of itinerary with a change in disembarkation port and a significant increased health risk. They refuse to advise us what their plans are. Their screening techniques have now been shown to be infective for coronavirus. Every other cruise line has coronavirus updates on their web site but not Oceania. We are in the process of looking into what our legal options are under the circumstances. The American public also needs to now that people are being financially pressured into embarking on a cruise that may bring them back to the US with the ability to infect others.

yes I agree 200 % .....at this point their decisions to me as a business owner makes absolute no sense.

I believe you can sue anyone at any time regardless of what the contract says.  Doesn't mean you will win, but it might not hurt to try.  Look at the guy that dropped his granddaughter off Royal Caribbean.

That may not be the best example, as the idiot in question is presently out on bond for negligent homicide

He was obviously 100% to blame.

I have no idea what that would have to do with this unless the grandfather worked for Oceania....OMG how crazy this world is

Unfortunately, the fine print in the "Terms and Conditions" that govern these trips, you wave your rights to pursue a class action.  The U.S. Supreme Court has approved of these class action waivers.

But are you saying (based on your call sign) we may be able to take legal action?

  12. 9 minutes ago, Jancruz said:

Thousands of people have the same problem, You will not get full refund so try to understand Oceanias and every other cruise lines position..I suggest you try insurance..or try to negotiate something for 2021

    Jancruz1

yes it's not Oceania's fault but surely they can be a little more accommodating...full refund in the form of a future cruise credit would be a reasonable response

Scheduled with Oceania for March 4 trip starting in Singapore and supposed to end in Hong Kong.  Oceania changed itinerary with offer of 25% refund and 25% credit on another trip. New plan does not work as Thailand (three stops) won't accept boat.  I have demanded a full refund with no favorable response. We are not going on this trip, and will pursue what legal rights we have.  Anyone else with same problem?

also wondering if this could qualify for a class action suit

I just spoke to my travel agent about the 25% refund for the March 4 cruise that was promised last week. The Oceania response was basically that they will get to it when they get to it without any dates given. They will not even notify the travel agent when it is refunded. You will only know when you see it on your credit care at some date in the future. They did not say what month or year.

are you saying that you officially canceled the cruise? What about the 10% refund and future cruise credit?

I am interested in people's response since I am in the same situation.  I have booked a private tour at 2PM the day we disembark from CIV and have booked a transfer with O to our post cruise hotel in Rome.

O's transfers are pretty pricey which I assume will be X 2....I have always found that it makes much more sense on doing a tour from The port dropping us off at the hotel upon completion....especially if you can get one more couple. Plus there is plenty to see on the outskirts from CIV into Rome

I end  my cruse on a Saturday at Civitavecchia and have a Oceania arranged shuttle from the ship to my hotel in Rome (near Villa Borghese). The ship arrives at port at 6 am and according to Oceania,  all are off by 9 am.  What time generally does the shuttle leave for Rome hotels and about when should I expect to arrive at my hotel? I am trying to plan activities for Sat in Rome.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Personally I would cancel the shuttle with Oceania and have a driver/ guide pick me up at the ship. I would tour Rome or the out lying areas having the driver drop me of at the hotel upon completion.
