  1. I booked a specific cruise and only paid the deposit. I knew which date/sailing I wanted so it made logical sense.

I am also safe knowing it is refundable if anything unforeseen should happen prior to final payment date and know they will honor price discounts before payment due date (I recently upgraded our cabin to a suite for less than we were paying for the balcony at the time of purchase)

If you know exactly where you want to go and when then I suggest booking the exact cruise then you can monitor the prices. Should you not wish to be rushed into making the decision on board then go with the other option.

I only wish I had started doing this earlier:) we now spend the week before we sail deciding on what we want to do next:D

    Hope this helps

  2. A friendly hint here.

When you attach it, whether you choose to laminate or tape over I always find it best to staple at the bottom and also right at the top by the handle you are attaching it too. That way there are no big gaps that can be caught on something and accidentally tear it off.

I then put clear tape wrapping round over the staples.

I know this might sound like overkill but this way it is firm, the cabin number is easily viewable and I am protecting handlers hands from the edges of the staples.

  3. I am sorry you did not enjoy yourselves.

My DD has sailed with us since she was a baby. I have never noticed an issue regarding smoking around the ice cream station, although again it would be helpful to know the ship you were on and the exact location of the ice cream.

I have never seen anyone or been escorted to a cabin and I have stayed in plenty of suites including the RS:confused:

Regarding missing items it is a quick fix by a polite conversation or note to your cabin steward. Robes is something that I always find late getting to our cabin as they are probably the last things to get washed from the previous cruise.

Whilst I know they cut back on towel animals (some ships I think only do it on Formal evenings now) again I asked our cabin steward if it was possible to do every night for our DD and with the exception of first and last night he happily took care of for us.

Chocolates - we miss as well, not sure if they still do in suites but. Celebrity do some good pillow chocolates:)

  4. Whilst I know in the past you could not book from UK with the US office (I am originally from Uk now residing in USA) I did notice the other day when I was looking for a number on their US site contact page that they now list a US number for international travelers to reserve cruises. I don't know if using UK site it would show up. Maybe try switching to the US site, put a hold on a cruise you like and call the international number to book.

I think this has been a relatively recent addition as I always have to go look up C+A number to call them and this side of the new year was the first time I had seen it listed.

  5. I was in Vegas in June staying a the Luxor. I went to the M-Life desk and showed them a printout of my C&A status showing I was Diamond. They gave me a Gold M-Life card. I will soon be going on Enchantment of the Seas. Is there any value to bringing my gold M-Life card and showing it to the casino manager? Will he give me anything (like a specialty restaurant voucher)? Or will it be a wasted effort since I am just a "reflected" M-Life Gold member?

As a side note, I was able to leverage my M-Life Gold card to gain Hyatt Gold rewards status. That means a few extra perks like free WiFi at Hyatt hotels.

I think you pretty much answered my question, but just wish to clarify.

Did you start as C+A to get mlife to then get Hyatt.?

I am in the process of getting set up with mlife online as we are far from Vegas but feel a trip coming on and being d+ was going to do online then call to get our status upgraded like someone else mentioned.

In the meantime we have an upcoming cruise that requires a pre night hotel so. I would love to know the benefits of the Hyatt rewards if we are able to get status from mlife.

  6. Thank you for the great thread.

In case I missed it somewhere, what was disembarkation like?

We are on the Navigator in June and last sailed into. Galveston on the mariner. It was a nightmare getting off as there were computer glitches and the line we were in was suddenly closed to reboot. The supervisor then saw we were not on US passports and tried to throw us out of the line we were in which was the line we were told to get in as we are green card holders and she didn't want to know anything about us being legal residents and told us to get into the non resident holders line!!!! We actually couldn't move anywhere as we had all our luggage with us and it was mayhem.

Fortunately we were called forward by one of the other immigration officers as we were at the front of the line by this stage, and the supervisor came over and grabbed our passports out of his hand and literally threw them at us. He explained we were perfectly entitled to be there as we were residents and the supervisor stormed off. Sorry about my discontentment but it was the worse port we have ever sailed into, and if it wasn't for traveling with relatives that picked this sailing I would probably have sailed from somewhere else!

With all the new customs fees for duty on duty free into Texas I am dreading that it may even be worse than last time!

Before once you had cleared immigration you were straight out on the street so have they moved the immigration lines to accommodate a new area for customs?

Any info you can provide would be appreciated.

  7. Thank you for the reply.

I have literally just heard from them. They said everyone even b2b people have to be off the ship all day Sunday. Nobody is being allowed to re board before 3pm. As such RC are giving all B2B people free excursions for the day with lunch included as obviously they can not eat onboard. I am guessing it must be pretty big for them to be going to that expense!

  8. My recommendation if they are unable to change before you go then just go to the concierge the first evening and explain the situation. I have seen them print out the gold cards many a time for passengers. Your room key would get you in in the first place.

You will probably need to speak to the concierge anyway as if my memory serves me correct on FOS Suite guests do not need tickets for shows on board especially the ice show. I am sure I saw a couple with the same situation and they gave all the children the gold cards as well as they were all minors and it prevented issues for show seatings etc.

    Hope this helps

    Good luck!

  9. Have sailed from Rome before. Spent two nights in Rome beforehand walking distance from the Termini. We got the train to Rome from the airport and then the train to Civitavecchia the morning of the cruise. It is a short walk from the train station that takes you to the entrance of the port where there are free shuttles that take you to the ship.

There are several trains a day but you need to pay attention to which are the express trains as ones with several stops take an age to get there.

If you do decide to get a hotel I would be happy to let you know where we stayed. We were able to walk to most places only needing to get transport to Vatican City. Please bear in mind that most Italian hotels especially in big cities have VERY small rooms.

If you are going to Rome it would really be worth the extra couple of days to take in the beautiful city.

  10. Hi all,

I hope this comes out alright as I am a first time poster but have been reading your pages for a while with much interest.

My parents are currently on the splendor around Brazil and are doing a B2B.

When they boarded they emailed and said Norovirus was on the ship last week.

They emailed again yesterday to say they had been told they have to disembark on Sunday for the ship to be cleaned before they can get back on. They did say they would email me again today to use up the last of their free minutes as they are diamond + to give me an update! but I have not heard from them.

Whilst I know there are not many English Speaking passengers on board I was wondering if anyone knew anyone currently sailing and if they had heard anything.

    Thanks
