  1. We are on the Grandeur NOW and waiting for our second half of our B2B to begin.

I just read all the speculation in this thread...interesting speculation.

    Yes, we had rough seas.

Yes, we had some waves larger than others.

Yes, there is some damage to deck 10.

Yes, that is the canvas ceiling cover.

    NO, that is NOT seaweed.

We spent that day both before and after the damage sitting in the Concierge Lounge, dining room, Diamond Lounge, etc. watching the beautiful rough sea. It was pretty much a normal rough day at sea for all of us both before and AFTER the OP's post's photo was taken.

We are expecting to sail on time this afternoon.

Thanks for the update, Beachnative! Is Deck 10 in the area off limits? I'm assuming repairs are being made by the crew? Glad no one was injured!

  2. Pepper Daisy, thanks for this information. I plan to go from Grandeur in May. Did you buy your tickets in advance or when you got there? If you bought them after you got there, how long did you have to wait in line? If you buy tickets online, are they for a specific date?

  3. Sorry I thought it was for TAs...they must have a different event happening on the same day.

I just read somewhere that someone from CC Editorial staff will be on/in the Session.

I suspect the webinar started out for TAs, then when so many C&A members were invited to the reveal in NYC on 3/26 and got told they were too late, it was full, they were invited to the TA reveal? Just guessing at this!

  4. I can see it (a large number of Quantum class ships). I've thought the newer "jumbo-sized" ships to have a number of drawbacks, including (a) can't always see what you want to see on-board, and (b) it automatically overwhelms some ports. I like the ideas of a "not-quite jumbo" sized ship but still with most of the amenities.

just one person's view, of course.

I agree with everything you said!

  5. I think it's a great idea to compile questions here. But it is only a 2 hour event which will involve serving food. I don't think we would be able to get all of the questions answered in a 2 hour event, even if it was all Q&A! I will pass on what I find out.

I won't be able to post until Thursday because I won't get home until really late on Weds. Hope some of the more local cc members will be able to give you more timely news!

  6. I too am sorry for your loss!

I often cruise solo. It's much more relaxing for me to have the freedom to do as I desire. I have found that when I am solo, more people approach me and start a conversation than when I am sailing with others. You won't feel totally alone.

If you have MTD you can ask to be seated with others or by yourself, depending on how you feel at the time. Sometimes the others you are seated with will agree to dine together again. It's a good way to meet a lot of people without committing to eating with anyone you don't enjoy for the entire cruise.

Good luck! I know you will have a great time!

Edited to add: Forgot to mention, take a jacket or sweater with you whenever you go to a buffet to keep your seat reserved.

  7. I would call them and make sure the problem is corrected. RC's system has been having really weird glitches lately. Earlier this week my C&A account wouldn't let me log in. I called C&A and the rep told me that my information had been transferred to my aunt, who has never cruised before and has a different first and last name, age, and lives in a different state than me. The C&A rep had no idea how that happened. The only link we could figure out was I sailed in a cabin with my mom back in 2010 and my aunt is sailing with my mom this coming August.

I called C&A when they first opened for business and was only on hold a couple of minutes. I took her about 15 minutes to get the problem fixed, but I have my C&A account and cruise history back.

Called last weekend to change my cabin for a B2B to make sure I was in the same cabin for both cruises. Was assured it was taken care of, but it was not. Called again today, no help, the cabin I needed wasn't available. I don't think I was lied to, just really bad IT issues.

  8. A great place for breakfast in Fort Lauderdale is Bahia Cabana! Call them and ask if they will store your luggage while you eat breakfast if you come by cab. Great food, and you can sit outside at the Bahia Mar marina. The water taxi comes in there, starting around 9 or 10, and paddle boat leaves from right there. You can cross over to the beach from there if you want.

  9. I guess I'm not "Select" enough for them. :D

Ray, guess RCCL would rather you spent you $ on ships already available to Floridians? Very few option for people in Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, and they are generally more expensive than Florida cruises. Its less expensive for me to fly to FL to get on a ship than to go from any port that I can drive to from the Mid-Atlantic area. The market for Quantam is not centered in Florida...

Forgot to mention, when we sail from Baltimore or Bayonne, unless it is hurricane season, it is two days before we get to warm weather.

  10. Just wanted to mention, Southwest allows 2 free checked bags per passenger. I usually check one going and 2 coming home. Also, for $20 each, you could use the luggage valet coming home if your flight is not too early. You put your luggage in the hall on the last night and see it again at your home airport. Well worth the money! Not all airlines participate in this program at Port Everglades, though.
