Pepper Daisy, thanks for this information. I plan to go from Grandeur in May. Did you buy your tickets in advance or when you got there? If you bought them after you got there, how long did you have to wait in line? If you buy tickets online, are they for a specific date?

And it looks like it has a nice outdoor seating area based on the renderings... if so, that in and of itself is a huge upgrade!
The outdoor seating on Brilliance class is wonderful! Oasis class windjammer is not very user friendly or appealing, just my opinion.

Sorry I thought it was for TAs...they must have a different event happening on the same day.
I just read somewhere that someone from CC Editorial staff will be on/in the Session.
I suspect the webinar started out for TAs, then when so many C&A members were invited to the reveal in NYC on 3/26 and got told they were too late, it was full, they were invited to the TA reveal? Just guessing at this!
-
And yet my DW just got an invite to do a Google Hangout session with AG on March 27 at 1:30 to go over all of the great new stuff on Quantum - go figure:confused:
I got an invite also, D+ and not a TA. The links don't work for me.

I hope some of the new technology involves iPhones or iPads for the waiters. Seems like if they could place orders immediately they would be more capable of tweaking dishes as well as having it automatically cross check the dishes against what we fill in as food allergies and other issues in our documentation.
Haha! I love the more personal touch that involves human interaction!

I can see it (a large number of Quantum class ships). I've thought the newer "jumbo-sized" ships to have a number of drawbacks, including (a) can't always see what you want to see on-board, and (b) it automatically overwhelms some ports. I like the ideas of a "not-quite jumbo" sized ship but still with most of the amenities.
just one person's view, of course.
I agree with everything you said!

I heard on board oasis the other day that there will be all new ships like quantum - 18 of them ! But that's just hear say

Wow, that's a pretty wild rumor!!!

I think it's a great idea to compile questions here. But it is only a 2 hour event which will involve serving food. I don't think we would be able to get all of the questions answered in a 2 hour event, even if it was all Q&A! I will pass on what I find out.
I won't be able to post until Thursday because I won't get home until really late on Weds. Hope some of the more local cc members will be able to give you more timely news!

We went to a reveal for oasis in NYC and it was at the Nokia Theater off Times Square.
It's being held at Location 05 on 34th Street in Manhattan.

I too am sorry for your loss!
I often cruise solo. It's much more relaxing for me to have the freedom to do as I desire. I have found that when I am solo, more people approach me and start a conversation than when I am sailing with others. You won't feel totally alone.
If you have MTD you can ask to be seated with others or by yourself, depending on how you feel at the time. Sometimes the others you are seated with will agree to dine together again. It's a good way to meet a lot of people without committing to eating with anyone you don't enjoy for the entire cruise.
Good luck! I know you will have a great time!
Edited to add: Forgot to mention, take a jacket or sweater with you whenever you go to a buffet to keep your seat reserved.

I would call them and make sure the problem is corrected. RC's system has been having really weird glitches lately. Earlier this week my C&A account wouldn't let me log in. I called C&A and the rep told me that my information had been transferred to my aunt, who has never cruised before and has a different first and last name, age, and lives in a different state than me. The C&A rep had no idea how that happened. The only link we could figure out was I sailed in a cabin with my mom back in 2010 and my aunt is sailing with my mom this coming August.
I called C&A when they first opened for business and was only on hold a couple of minutes. I took her about 15 minutes to get the problem fixed, but I have my C&A account and cruise history back.
Called last weekend to change my cabin for a B2B to make sure I was in the same cabin for both cruises. Was assured it was taken care of, but it was not. Called again today, no help, the cabin I needed wasn't available. I don't think I was lied to, just really bad IT issues.

All I can say is it will be epic!

Oh, come on! Give us just a little hint! Will you be there?
-
I plan to attend and take pictures. However, I hear another big storm may be brewing that day.
-
Seems like solo travelers will be relegated to inside cabins?
-
Still loyal to Royal, but sure wish they could find some IT people who know what they are doing!

A great place for breakfast in Fort Lauderdale is Bahia Cabana! Call them and ask if they will store your luggage while you eat breakfast if you come by cab. Great food, and you can sit outside at the Bahia Mar marina. The water taxi comes in there, starting around 9 or 10, and paddle boat leaves from right there. You can cross over to the beach from there if you want.
-
You can ask your cabin steward to store it for you, if necessary.
-
No, Rhonda, since it would be lovely to see you again. I'll be on the Explorer. :)
Lucky you! Have a great time!

I do not find that wording strange.
There is NOTHING in the original invitation that promises to feed you.
It merely talks about revealing the culinary experience ON BOARD the Quantum.
:)
But I am glad that you won't starve. :D
Carol, are you going?
-
I guess I'm not "Select" enough for them. :D
Ray, guess RCCL would rather you spent you $ on ships already available to Floridians? Very few option for people in Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, and they are generally more expensive than Florida cruises. Its less expensive for me to fly to FL to get on a ship than to go from any port that I can drive to from the Mid-Atlantic area. The market for Quantam is not centered in Florida...
Forgot to mention, when we sail from Baltimore or Bayonne, unless it is hurricane season, it is two days before we get to warm weather.
-
I got email confirmation, also, asking for full names. Maybe they are printing little menus like 150 Central? Wonder if there is a celebrity chef involved...
Bought train tickets for myself and my daughter. It will be a great girls getaway for us. Now we have to decide what else we want to do in Manhattan. I heart NYC! Don't get there often enough.
-
Just wanted to mention, Southwest allows 2 free checked bags per passenger. I usually check one going and 2 coming home. Also, for $20 each, you could use the luggage valet coming home if your flight is not too early. You put your luggage in the hall on the last night and see it again at your home airport. Well worth the money! Not all airlines participate in this program at Port Everglades, though.

D+ and plan to attend. I'm assuming it will be a big publicity event with a few appetizer samplers offered?

Was onboard last week. The plan is to dam off the water around the azipods and suck the water out, then make the repairs. The crew will be staying onboard for extra cleaning and training for something new coming up.

Thanks for the update, Beachnative! Is Deck 10 in the area off limits? I'm assuming repairs are being made by the crew? Glad no one was injured!
