  1. Costa Maya is an nice port, but there isn't anything tourist-y for miles around after you leave the Shopping Area, because of a hurricane, I believe. It gives you a realistic feel of Mexico. The shopping center also has a pool. I remember one particular guy, from the shopping area. He was so 'beggy', he took my whole family into his shop, and gave us massages. It was awkward. I forget his store name, (typical Hispanic tourist jewelry tral) but if it is run by the same person, avoid it if you don't like getting 'fondled' by someone weird...

Also, be aware, Costa Maya is the name of the port area. Mahahual is the village outside of the port.

  2. Hi,

Please note, I cover 3 topics in this post. They are marked by dashes.

-I have just recently come off a 4 day to Cozumel and back on the Carnival Paradise. The ship was in great condition for it's age, only complaint is some of the lighting was down in some areas. Loved the dining, the pools, the entertainment, and the kids club for me ("Circle C"). But, the itinerary was the low point of the cruise. I've been to Cozumel 5 times, and it just kinda gets boring. One of the purposes of this post is to ask you, the CruiseCritic community, what type of new, shorter, 4,5,6 night itinerary options do you want out of Tampa? If I were to answer, I would pick Grand Cayman, Key West and Jamaica.

-The other topic is to ask what new things do you want to see on the Carnival Paradise? The ship is nice, but if you cruise it more than twice, it would kinda get old. So, what new additions to the Carnival Paradise would you enjoy?

-The last topic is as follows: what ship/itinerary would you want out of Tampa, if they build a new cruise terminal off of St. Pete?

    Thanks in adv. ,

  3. I can't wait to hear what they have in mind to resolve the "Skyway Bridge" problem. We need to be able to accommodate the "mega ships" here in the Tampa/St Pete area, or we're going to lose a lot of tourist business.

    "SKY"

Exactly. I wouldn't know where to turn if Tampa lost it's cruise industry. I've been cruising out of Tampa for 8 years, due to it being only 35-40 minutes away. But, if I had my opinion, I would build the cruise terminal out past the Skyway. My itinerary/ship choice would be a 2.0 Conquest class ship doing Southern Caribbean and Eastern Caribbean routes.. That would be Paradise ;).

  4. Hi all,

First off, let me say I am a Carnival-loyal man, just off my 5th Carnival cruise. My family and I have an open booking on any RC cruise, and we would like to try a voyage. My parents have been on 1 previous RC cruise, the December 1st, 2013 sailing of the Freedom of the Seas. But I have some concerns. Coming off Carnival, I am used to the standard 185sq ft cabin, while Royal Caribbean goes between 142-164sq ft. So, if I were to book an RC cruise, are we getting smaller rooms, for higher prices? Another problem, is that we would have an infant on the way, so what ships, cabins or itineraries would you recommend for a 5 person family?

    Thanks,

  5. Hi there,

My family and I have a few questions. They will be listed below:

-Is there a candy shop aboard the Paradise?

-What are the art galleries like? Are there Thomas Kinkade pictures?

-Will they possibly have my lovely Escargots in the MDR?

I leave tomorrow, and I am so excited. But once these are answered, I'll have more of a peace of mind.

    Thanks,

  6. Hi all,

I have a question. My family has booked the 4 day western out of Tampa on the Paradise, this Thursday. They booked the FTTF package. What time should we arrive at Tampa with the FTTF?

Also, they have booked a shore excursion in Cozumel, the Catamaran Snorkel and Beach combo. What time should we get off the ship to go to the Catamaran?

    Thanks!

  7. Nice rendering, but the Vista will not share a platform with the Royal/Britannia class because Carnival doesn't share platforms with P&O Princess.

I'm actually amazed that they don't share with Princess, since Carnival owns Princess.. Right, or am I stupid?

  8. Hi there,

This Oct-Nov, my Step mom will be having a child. We will, of course, want to go on another Carnival Cruise, but with an infant of 6 months +. What are the booking procedures, do I book a room for 5, or 4? And do I have to pay full price if it would be a family of 4 + an infant in a cabin?

    Thanks,

    ^^FM

(By the way, I may still be 12 years old, but I am technically my family's Travel Agent... I've got the smarts. ;) )

  9. Hi again,

As you should know by my ticker, I am going on the June 19th sailing on the Carnival Paradise. I am booked in R299, and it has the king bed push together, along with two Pullmans. I don't like sleeping upwards, so would it be possible to get a trundle bed for the cabin instead of me having to sleep in a Pullman?

    Thanks,

    ^^FM

  10. I believe Carnival Fantasy, an older sister ship to the Carnival Fascination, is based in Charleston, SC. And the ship/ships with the Ropes course is the Carnival Magic and Carnival Breeze. Magic is based somewhere in Texas, maybe Galveston ( I honestly don't know. ), and the Breeze is based in Miami. I would recommend driving to Port Canaveral, and choose the Carnival Liberty, or the Carnival Sunshine, both are great! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask any more, I'll be happy to answer! :)

  11. I have been officially booked in R299, so I don 't think I can switch. I guess I have to wait for the upgrade fairy if I want it that bad, or, if there is one empty GS, I can ask Guest Services on sailing day.. I can only hope. Thanks all for your help.

P.S: Sorry, Elaine, that was just my first reaction to what you said, it took me time to think it through.

  12. Hai'dere,

I have yet another question. Anyone know any good secrets for upgrading to a higher class cabin for free/cheap? I am currently booked in Cabin R299 on the Paradise June 19th sailing, and I really, REALLY want a Grand Suite, because of a couple of reasons, such as my desire to have a balcony and to have a larger room, because I have a large, 4 person family. Just wanted to check and see if I can know any of your secrets ;).

    Thanks,

    ^^FM

  13. Hi guys,

Quick question. When would be a good time to arrive at the Tampa Cruise Terminal? I am going on the Carnival Paradise June 19th of this year, and I'm planning it out to every minor detail. I like not having to wait long ;). Please get back to me.

    ^^FM
