Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. You could save yourself some money on the Tromso tour and do it yourself. The Havila ferry docks in the middle of Tromso and the Full Steam museum is about a 10 minute walk from the ferry terminal. The polar museum is almost next door to the Full Steam museum. The gondola runs every day (unless it is too windy) on half hour intervals, although if there is a queue they run continuously. You can check if it is running for the day you visit by looking on their website Tromso cable car It either gives the status (either opening times or closed status) on the home page. You can book tickets in advance on the website or on the day at the cable car station. The price is the same. If the weather is bad with low cloud/heavy rain I would probably not bother with the cable car as the main reason for going up is the view. To get to the cable car is around a 20-25minute walk over the bridge if you are fit (and don't mind heights). On the other side of the bridge you may want to stop at Tromso cathedral as well to break the journey. Alternatively you can get a taxi to the cable car station, or the number 26 bus. The bus goes from near the ferry terminal.
  2. If you use this link, it brings up the full history for the P&O website. https://web.archive.org/web/20210227134511/https://www.pocruises.com/ At the top right of the screen you should see this 'bar chart' , which shows the years and frequency snapshots have been taken of the website. Use this to select the year you want to look at. As you mouse over, you should see the highlighted year/month change.
  3. Try the internet archive - here's a direct link to the Aurora 2008 world cruise itinerary on an archive version of the P&O website. You should be able to navigate through this to find what you need. https://web.archive.org/web/20061201201549/http://www.pocruises.com/QuickFinder/Cruises-R801-2008-Itinerary.aspx
  4. Assuming 'cabin with shower only' means no bath, most on 'F' and 'E' deck are shower only. You need to download the detailed deckplan and then zoom in to look for cabins with this symbol
  5. We've recently made a select booking choosing an outside cabin on Deck F (avoiding pull-down bed) for the 16 night Norwegian sailing next March. We selected the auto-upgrade option on the booking thinking we could always refuse if we did not like the offered cabin - now we know that is not the case - and an 'upgrade' could easily leave us on deck F but into the type of cabin we want to avoid. I can't find any option on the booking to change this option (it doesn't even mention it has been selected) - does this require a call/email to customer services to change our opt-out option? Thanks
