  1. Not pointed at me Brummijam. As I said I Follow lots of Marella cruise forums. I haven't commented on this particular one ( yet ) . Never come across so many rude people on a forum before. Very argumentative bunch of cruisers 😂 As i said before I'm no spring chicken but I'm still young in my head so didn't for one minute think the comment was aimed at me 😂🤣
  2. This topic may have been done to death but it crops up almost everyday on the Marella forums that I follow. Don't forget there are lots of first time cruisers who genuinely don't know the dress code and are unaware how many times the question has been asked. The most recent post was from someone cruising for the first time and asking if she could get away with wearing ripped jeans and wedges. Most people said no and quoted the dress codes as printed in the brochure and suggested she wear dark jeans without rips. Then there was the usual " I paid for my cruise so I'll wear what I like " hence the comments about people wearing football tops, trainers and tshirts. Someone said they couldn't wait for the time when some people were too old to cruise.😂 Sorry to disappoint them but we intend to cruise till we drop.🤣
  3. Unbelievable ! No regard for others who may be more vulnerable !
  4. On another Marella forum discussion about wearing ripped jeans, football tops and tshirts.
  5. Hope you manage to get back in touch with your friends Jim and hope you and your wife are feeling much better.
  6. I was just about to ask Jim if I could do the same on other cruise groups but I think we are in the same groups RR so I will keep an eye out for any info. Hopefully someone will know them and get in touch.
  7. So sorry to hear you and your wife were unwell on your cruise Jim. Such a disappointment after looking forward to it for so long. Sadly Covid is still with us and for some, despite being vaccinated it can be quite debilitating. I hope you both continue to feel better and be back to full health soon.
  8. The women in the laundry room didn't need drink the were bad enough without it. The altercation started because a woman took another woman's laundry out of the dryer and dumped it on top of the machine. A right old barney ensued. Agree that more women than men are often the worst for wear. Alcohol and hormones. Feel sorry for the husbands 🤣
  9. Been on Spirit, Celebration, Majesty and Dream. All gone now. My last cruise before the Pandemic hit was on the Dream, little did I know that was the last time I would sail on her .
  10. Sad to say I have seen a few people who have overindulged. Have also witnessed two fights. One between two men on the Celebration and one between two women in the laundry room on the Spirit and I don't mean just arguing, I men real fisticuffs. Have also seen a domestic. Woman was so drunk she could hardly stand and cursing and swearing at her other half. Hardly what I would call enjoying yourself. Have also heard of a whole family being thrown off the ship a few years ago for fighting.
  11. I scrolled back to try to find the post but couldn't find it. He may have deleted it as there was a lot of negative comments on it. Don't think he got the response he was hoping for. Although a handful of people thought it was funny , most disapproved
  12. Have seen posts on a few cruise forums of quite large groups of ladies on Marella cruises posting lots of pics about their great time on board. I never ever thought it may be hen nights until a few days ago when a guy posted that a party of 42, him and his mates mates were having a stag do on a Marella cruise in a few days time. Their aim is to drink the ship dry. Needless to say there was lots of comments about the wisdom of allowing this on a cruise. I know Marella allow groups of people to cruise together but didn't think they would accept such a large group of males on board on one booking. Perhaps they all booked two at a time so that it wouldn't be picked up. Glad I'm not on that cruise ! Is this the latest thing. Stags and Hens on AI cruises ?
  13. Great views from the Sky Bar. I remember the trio who played in there in the evening. Canta Serenata They were from the Philippines and also played in various venues around the ship during the day.
  14. I noticed that too. Favourite ship and favourite port
  15. It's the women with the tattoos and beer bellies that put me off my cocktails 🤣
  16. Just don't get this smart jeans and smart shorts bit. Surely jeans and shorts are casual wear. Someone arguing on FB that he only wears smart jeans and smart shorts and all his clothes are designer labels. Some of my clothes are also designer labels. I get them at TK Max and he probably does too otherwise he would be cruising with a more upmarket cruise line, lol
  17. Sadly I have been reading of several flight delays on social media. Most are from Manchester but a few from other airports too. A flight from Glasgow was delayed and the cruise passengers were flown to Palma then on to Malaga and finally joined the ship in Gibraltar losing two days of their cruise. A couple of days ago there was a long delay on a flight from Leeds to Corfu. The passengers then received a message asking them to return to the carousel to collect there bags as the flight had been cancelled along with their cruise. This was due to a technical fault and the cruise with flights from other airports went ahead. Some really sad stories.
  18. Hello again Brummijam, " No mention of being banished to the buffet there " As I mentioned in my previous post. The the reference to people who don't wish to take part in the Dress to Impress and would prefer something more casual can come along to the reception then dine in the buffet restaurant was in the CRUISE NEWS. What RR has posted is the same as I posted in my original post and is from the BROCHURE. Glad you don't think I'm a tut tutter. 🙂 I'm no spring chicken but I'm no old fuddy duddy either. I love my Marella cruises. Love the bands, love the quizzes, love the shows, love the crew. Just a bit disappointed in the attitude of some passengers who ignore the guidelines. Sleep well 😴
  19. Hi Brumijam, The information on the dress code that I pasted is from the 2020 / 2021 Marella brochure page 25. Unfortunately I don't have a more recent one as they are very difficult to come by. The other information that you have underlined is from the Cruise News. Dress code for Dress to Impress is as above but states " Should you prefer something a little less formal, come along to the reception, then dine in the Buffet Restaurant " Glad you had a good cruise and everything went well but as had been said before cruises can vary from week to week with different guests on board. Unfortunately some people have experienced people dining in swim shorts and vests. The fact that this topic crops up so often on Marella cruise forums on social media proves that it is a bone of contention among guests. I am not a tut tutter just someone who has enjoyed many Thomson / Marella cruises for over 20 years and feel sad at the drop in standards.
  20. The problem is some people interpret this wrongly and some have turned up to the MDR in swim shorts and vests. Then there are ones who know exactly what it means and deliberately flaunt the guidelines for each restaurant and look at people as much to say " Go on I dare you to comment ". There was always a note at the bottom of the cruise news with the dress code for that evening. I guess some people don't read it. As for the dress to impress night Marella say " It's the chance to get suited and booted but if you don't want to take part there is always the buffet " Just been looking at a video that someone on a Marella cruise forum has posted. Guys leaning on the deck rail watching the sailaway. Lots of " Bum Cleavage " on show. Not a good look, lol ! 😂🤣🤮
  21. Heated discussions going on in a few Marella cruise forums at the moment about that same old topic. Dress code. Someone asking if they can wear trainers, jeans and shorts to dinner. Some saying dress as you would going out to a nice restaurant at home. Others saying wear what you like it's your holiday you paid for it. Some saying they enjoy getting dressed up as it's the only chance they get to wear their nice clothes. One man complaining that women can wear sandals but men cant. One guy ( new to cruising ) just told a lady " if you want to dress up go with another cruise line " Marella what have you done ? !
