We were on the Liberty last week too. The shows in the main showroom were pretty lame. None that I would say you can't miss. Carnival needs to kick it up a notch entertainment wise.

Only way to go. Early Saver can't beat pack n go rates. Usually 1/3 the cost of booking early saver.

Early Saver isn't what it used to be. Especially with the new we pick your cabin sales. Pretty much eliminates any reduction they would give you.

Overrated: Faster to the fun. You people are paying $50 to get on the ship an hour before me. I'll just sleep in more, get to port at my leisure, and still have a fine time.

 

(Though it may be worth it for itineraries that see a lot of tenders).

We also had ATD. It was very slow. See my post earlier. The last night we just ate dinner in the buffet so as not to waste 2-1/2 to 3 hours in the MDR.

We book ATD and find if you go early like 6-6:30 or late 8 or later. The service is faster. Between 6:30 and 8 very slow.

The Asian band that played the lounges was just so-so. I have had better bands on other ships. The band's change ships also. You can go on the same ship twice and the lounge bands could be different.

Carnival passengers believe that anything goes, including dress up night. It's become a joke. So where what he wants. However, you can buy suits for $150.00. Eventually he will need one.

You do realize that this statement was made by the Carnival Corporation President and CEO Arnold Donald, and was not specific to CCL alone.

 

His statement was made to travel agents, and was to tell them he felt their commissions would increase. He said it is a goal to increase fares. He said in part that there was a "dramatic increase in capacity" in the Caribbean and that dampened fares. He says there will be a near double digit reduction in capacity next year.

 

The part I thought was funnier was his comment about not chasing down passengers to book direct with Carnival, and the company is not in competition with Travel Agents.

 

Again, temper all this with he was speaking to 900 travel agents at the time.

We pretty much have committed to booking last minute from now on. So will still pay below regular price. Used to do early saver but do to too many "special" catagories created to screw you out of price drops we quit early saver.

Our last cruise we just purchased a case from bon voyage prior to sailing. It's only $20 for 24 bottles. Takes the hassle out of lugging water on.
