  1. I had heard the forward suites were nice, except there all don't have a balcony you can sit on. They do have large windows overlooking the bow of the ship, though. Plus, the bedroom is seperate from the rest of the cabin for regular Haven suites.

The H7 was really nice. The balcony is small off the living room but perfect for two the have two wicker chairs and a table.

In the bedroom you have a big window overlooking the bow.

Large bathroom with a nice size tub.

    Really nice cabin.

    The H7's on 9 and 12 are a little larger. I was on 10.

  2. We just got off the Breakaway, forward facing Haven penthouse, and I completely agree that once you go Haven, you'll never go back.

For me, the priority embarkation and disembarkation is worth the price all by itself. Watching the HUGE line of people we were bypassing at both ends of the trip, I could not believe how many people were waiting in those lines!

I was not at all impressed with our butler. I doubt he was assigned to only the forward facing suites. I think he was busy up on the Haven courtyard. He didn't even get my simple requests right: keep the room stocked with coffee pods and Splenda.

We had breakfast and lunch in the Haven restaurant a couple times late in the week but wasn't impressed. They were the worst meals we had on the ship. I definitely wouldn't pay extra for that perk. The concierge escorted us to reserved seats a couple of times for shows and that was. I've except that they want you to meet them 45 minute before show time high I thought was excessive. One time our concierge found us as we were finishing dinner right before the Cirque de Soleil show and personally escorted us to a sweet front row table. That was pretty cool.

Finally, the beds! I don't know if Haven cabins have different beds, but our bed was amazing. It is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in besides my own. My wife and I really did not want to leave the bed.

You won't regret spending the extra money!

Wow I was on the BA in a forward suite H7 8/28.

Our butler was amazing I mean the best! He brought the snacks we asked for everyday and was always checking in on us. Anoop was awesome as well.

We loved the food in the Haven. We only had breakfast there on the last day.

The suite was perfect. Small balcony but we used it almost everyday to have coffee on.

  3. To the OP, I was on this cruise and agree 100% with your review.

We stayed in an OS and it was so dusty and dirty.

They had nothing planned on the ship with the bad weather in port. Boring.

Also the food was not up to par in the main dining rooms and the buffet. We ate at the Asian place it was ok (very salty) and the steak house also just ok.

The only show we saw was Epic rock that was ok.

  4. Recently went to Cagney's, Moderno, Teppanyaki and La Cucina.

I would drop Cagney's. There wasn't really anything special about this restaurant to me.

I would put Teppanyaki on your list as I thought it was probably the best meal of the four.

Next, I would drop La Cucina but mostly because it was almost a 3 hour meal for us which was annoying. They did still have the oil/dressing for the bread on our sailing a month ago - someone above said they stopped doing that.

3 hours is way too long.

Did they have the three oils with the bread or just one?

  5. First, I'd move Le Bistro to the location of 5 O'Clock somewhere so it has more space and waterfront seating.

Second, I'd add a pool to Spice H20 and get rid of that stupid grotto.

Third, I'd make the hallways a little wider and reduce the number of rooms so the ship isn't so crowded.

I agree with all of these. I love H20 on the Epic. The whole ship needs to be wider.

  6. I'm going to 'guess' it's been changed due to confusion with it saying "guest fare" when it's a *free* cruise. They changed it to Admin fee. Why they just didn't change it to NCF, which is basically what it is, I have no idea. NCL is the only cruise line that I'm aware of that when comped one pays a NCF.

    Harriet

RCCL and Carnival do not charge any fees when it's a casino comped cruise.

All you pay is the port charges. I don't know about other lines.

  7. Hi Harriet,

Wishing you the best health possible, and then some. Sally had alluded to ill health, but didn't go into details (when she visited us at home in Toronto).

You know, the Jade sailing for August 6th has a GV. I'm not sure about the promos, but I know somebody will be onboard and in a celebratory mood. ;)

    Stephen

    .

That sounds amazing. I have never been on the Jade but I have heard great things.

Just curious, did you get a hug from Sally? because I did and she gives the best hugs in the world! Love her.

  8. I met you once, briefly, Harriet. In that moment, my first impression was that this lady is tough. That's about the top compliment I give people, and it makes me think that if anyone can kick cancer's ass, it's a tough lady like you. I hate hearing your news.
