  1. I am so disappointed . my dh and I are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary in 2016. We want to cruise on the "Breakaway in April of 2016 with our kids and grandchildren. We will be paying for all the rooms and thought I was all set for the M6 category and then looked at the price. It was over $5000 per cabin. I thought that was ridiculous! what is with that price. I have cruised a lot and never paid c lose to that for 14days.!!!!!

Wow that is high, when I booked it was $40 less than the family mini suite for the week. And to be on deck 8 was great I took the stairs one flight up or down. I never heard any noise at all from other cabins.

You should keep an eye out for price drops as your cruise comes closer.

  2. Can't beat that location, close to the action in 678 Ocean Place ,the waterfront and I loved being so close to the water.Im on deck 11 this time around.

    Best part no chair hogs!

We bought Vibe passes for the week..... to be honest I only went once, Really enjoyed being out on the balcony. Next time I will not get the Vibe pass if I have this cabin.

We also had friends we met on the cruise watch the fireworks from the balcony the 7 of us fit just fine :)

  3. Have been thinking about the charge for Ocean Blue and even with a discount I think we will pass. After buying the UDP we still have so many options so no need to spend the extra.

DD likes fish but not usually her first choice and I cannot eat lobster so it will be easy for us to pass.

I agree about Ocean Blue..... not worth the extra money.

You can go to more than one restaurant per night with the package.

I may buy it next time and go to the Brazilian restaurant every night. If your group eats there I don't think they will be dinning twice in an evening :)

    Love the salad bar!

  4.

Bear3412 You were right! 8140 does indeed have an angled balcony. No noise great location.

Your info helped us on our June breakaway cruise.

    Thank you :)

  5. I'm also loving the idea of prime rib and/or all you can eat baby back ribs in O'Sheehan's!

I had the ribs on my June cruise on the BA they were really good.

Friends and family went on prime rib night, they did not enjoy it (dry and no taste) I hope they step that up.

  6. I don't know about buying a sundae but if I can get a good chocolate malt for $3, you bet I'll be treating myself on our cruise in January.

It's a whole lot cheaper than a frozen alcoholic drink (though I like those too) and something I don't have very often. I look at it this way, if I want to save money, I eat the complimentary things. If I want a treat, just like at home, I pay for it.

Nobody is making me spend more money and I've never felt like I was being nickled and dimed.

The Banana Split was $4.50 on the Breakaway they will make it anyway you want

its big and worth the calories.

My son had apple pie and asked for a scoop of ice cream on it, no charge.

  7. It looks FAB! But it would be enough for 2 for lunch and supper, :p

We really enjoyed O'Sheehan's and my fav. was the Corned Beef and Rye, DH's favourite was the All beef hotdog. yummmm hope there's something to compare with it on the Sun in December. :p

Yes two can share that for sure but I had an all out food fest in my room

Then three hours later we ate at the Brazilian restaurant which was excellent.

This was my pig out day on the cruise :)

  8. Learned so much with all the ice cream talk! My 6 yr old will thank you all. I think the buffet for free Ice Cream but possibly getting milkshakes at O'Sheehans will be worth the extra money.

Another question, does anyone know how much bowling costs? I understand there are 2 lanes at O'Sheehans.

They will not charge him for one scoop of ice cream.

I think someone said bowling was $5

  9. I think they pretty much have the bases covered...except. I wish the Mexican restaurants were still there. They were the least expensive (maybe why they're gone) , but I thought were very good. I realize the US cities have a Mexican restaurant on every corner. However, the ones NCL had offered a bit above the usual.

I agree the Mexican on the Dawn was so great! I wish they would put a Dos Caminos on board the ships :)

  10. I haven't tried (we never have had trouble getting all OBC spent) but apparently one could cash them out at casino paying 3% convience fee and then depositing remaining cash to onboard account in Guest Services.

    Wow thats great....I didn't know that :)

  11. Hi Everyone!

My fiancé and I currently have our honeymoon cruise booked for the last week in February on the Breakaway. We would be in a spa mini suite. The more that I read about the Breakaway and how it is such a huge ship with LOTS of people and kids aboard, the more I'm wondering if it was a good choice. So I'm exploring other options for ports we could drive to. Any input/advice about this would be great - especially from anyone who has done both!!

    OPTION 1

Breakaway out of NYC in February 2015

    Spa Mini Suite

Train to Penn Station, then taxi to Port

    Destination Bahamas

    OPTION 2

Dawn out of Boston in October 2015

    Balcony Room, purchase Spa passes

    Drive to Port, park there

    Destination Bermuda

Approximate total cost for the Breakaway cruise for us would be around $400 more (at current prices).

I love the Dawn and Bermuda. If you can spend a night in Boston and do some sightseeing that would be a bonus :)

I just got off the BA to Bermuda also a great ship! But I would take Bermuda over the Bahamas, and the Dawn over the Breakaway.

  12. Thank you, I have been enjoying looking at all the things Norwegian has to offer. We are planning an alaskan cruise for next summer, can't wait. The planning and research is half the fun.

I know I love the planning.......I just got off the Breakaway last month, I'm already planning a cruise for December. I hope we can do Alaska in the near future:)

  13. Had a Christmas cruise booked on Carnival but canceled as their no smoking on balconies came out yesterday. I enjoy my morning cigarette with coffee on my PRIVATE balcony so hink I am going to book on the Getaway for Christmas.

    Goodbye Carnival!! :p

I dont blame you....I have heard great reviews about the Getaway :)
